Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Sage HR was used mainly for payroll purpose ; to ensure we get reliable HR reports , integration with accounting system , Integration with time and attendance system ; we had TMS - installed biometric clock and need payroll system which can integrate with TMS , looking for good customer support

Pros

  • Payroll
  • HR reports
  • integration with time and attendance

Cons

  • reporting format
  • integration with accounting system

Likelihood to Recommend

for purpose of payroll Sage HR is very good ; it is particularly suited for medium scale organisation , its integration with time and attendance system is very good ; it needs improvement for seamless integration with accounting system ; if we use Sage accounting than yes it works very well ; if we use other accounting system like Xero , MYOB than integration is bit difficult. we also had implemented Sage HR - extension of basic payroll - gave ESS - employee self service option , delivery of payslips , various management reports , storage of performance review , job description , reporting lines - it was really good web version of Sage HR.

Sage HR

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Sage HR for distributing payslips and allocating holidays. Using Sage HR makes the holiday booking process so easy and avoids any overlap between staff. Being a small business it saves time with everything being in one place allowing me to concentrate on the other aspects of my job.

Pros

  • Easy to navigate
  • Great for staff to use for Holidays and Payslips

Cons

  • Be able to see all staff on a calendar at once
  • Time keeping

Likelihood to Recommend

If only for the timekeeping of staff Sage HR is worth it. I do not use Sage HR to its full capacity as we are only a small company with fewer than 10 staff however I would say to any business get Sage HR - I can imagine that when you are trying to manage 10s of staff from both office and hybrid it can be hard. Sage HR makes this easy.

Sage HR - Useful Tool

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Sage HR is used in our organization to facilitate leave management, expenses and project tracking along with announcements and organizational charts.

We were previously using Excel for all of the above and this lead to emails flying back and forth and a much less streamlined process compared to what we have now using Sage HR.

Pros

  • Leave management process
  • Expenses
  • Survey creation

Cons

  • Home screen customisation
  • Support function
  • Search function

Likelihood to Recommend

Suitability is a case by case basis, however one scenario where Sage HR is suited is for a growing team that can utilise the leave management module to maintain and report on increased leave volumes and coordinate with team members across different departments and locations including remote working.

A smaller team may not find this as useful.

Problems and no Support

Rating: 1 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use SageHR for Time Tracking, Time and Attendance and Performance Management.

Pros

  • The mobile app is decent.
  • Quick Feedback is good.

Cons

  • Time Off policies are confusing to setup and don't work as expected. We've particularly had issues with long-term leave interacting incorrectly with accrued PTO - such that employees on long-term leave had their PTO automatically adjusted incorrectly and we had to resort to complicated manual calculations to determine the correct amount. When we reached out for support around this we never got an answer as to why the system had done the automated adjustment it had done and no advice on how to prevent it from happening again in the future, despite multiple efforts to follow up with them.
  • Performance Reviews are confusing, with many different components housed in different areas but all controlled by the same configuration settings. On the dashboard the Self-Reviews and Peer Reviews look almost exactly the same and HR is constantly having to retrain and help users to complete their reviews.
  • Their support is basically non-existent. Support staff will reply to chat or email, but don't offer any assistance beyond restating what is in the help documentation, which isn't helpful. When real issues arise, such as a system glitch that wiped out the vacation accrual for all staff, they just respond that 'engineering will look into it' without communicating an ETA, or explaining what the problem is.

Likelihood to Recommend

Don't use it.

Well-Suited HR Platform for Small to Mid-Size Companies

Rating: 7 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

At my company, we used Sage HR to manage, engage, and retain our workforce. Sage HR provides great visibility of our whole workforce (especially remote workers) in real-time and allows us to understand what is going on at all times. Whether we were wanting to recruit, schedule shifts, manage timesheets, or manage performance reviews, Sage HR allowed us to seamlessly do it all in a central location without making it overly complicated.

Pros

  • Customization of Templates and Dashboards
  • On-going Employee Performance Tracking
  • Compensation/Timecard Management

Cons

  • Updating information in a central location that implements changes across whole system.
  • Custom reporting and history
  • Time off policies tracking and management

Likelihood to Recommend

For smaller companies, Sage HR is a user friendly system that allows you to streamline HR processes all under one roof and a time efficient manner. The other software it is able to integrate with is also a bonus allowing processes to be simplified. Ultimately, we really enjoyed using it to allow our team members to engage with it but also to make engaging with our team members simpler on the HR team and requests always recorded.

I have tested many HR software and finally found a cool one. The features I like are performance management and leave management. There are simple 1-2-1 schedules, personal/company goals, and training. We can even set-up birthday alerts! Support is great and easy to reach.

Pros

  • Leave tracking.
  • 1-2-1.
  • Goals.

Likelihood to Recommend

Cake HR is well-suited for managing people and supporting them!

My thoughts on CakeHR

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Today, CakeHR is being used within my organization to track time off, one-on-one's, annual reviews, and goals. The features that CakeHR offered ant the price they offered was by far more superior than other HR applications I looked at. Prior to using CakeHR, we were keeping track of time off in a manually managed Excel document. CakeHR was implemented across our entire organization and has been a huge success since day 1.

Pros

  • Time off policies are clear and transparent.
  • The review process functionality was extremely easy to use.
  • Support is outstanding . If you ever run into an issue they are always available to help.
  • Onboarding document control is really easy to manage and stays consistent with a growing company.

Cons

  • A few more override features for time off. For example, I would like certain people to get notified of PTO. CakeHR can't do this currently. So I had to grant authority to approve, which gave my admin the ability to see the email of approval.

Likelihood to Recommend

Keeping an accurate time off calendar, with specific buckets, is extremely important. It has helped my company grow without having to manage things in Excel. Also, implementing an annual review process by using CakeHR has been very clean and transparent with my employees. This also allows me to see year over year. In years past, we used Word or a Jotform which made it challenging to pull up years past.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use CakeHR to manage any day off requests for our team. It's a great tool for keeping everyone updated on their day-off allowance and vacation day requests. It's also easy to approve requests and see reports on remaining time off. We also use this service to keep track of employee start dates and other valuable information.

Pros

  • Day Off Requests
  • Management Approvals

Cons

  • Setting up unique holidays can be a little confusing
  • Setting specific profiles for employees is a little tricky

Likelihood to Recommend

We use CakeHR for keeping track of day-off requests and vacation time. Works great for us!

A solid HRIS for SME's, good price, excellent service and functionally, with regular feature updates

Rating: 9 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use CakeHR to manage all aspects of HR (ex payroll and recruitment) for all our employees in HK and Shenzhen. It's particularly useful for managing time off and employee data, and is very user-friendly - I only have to do minimal user training as its very intuitive. More recently I have been using the performance management modules to great effect and this has saved me many hours of admin and Excel sheets!
This system allows for a good deal of employee self-service through the desktop and mobile apps and speeds up their onboarding/removes the associated HR admin so we can focus on the person rather than the papers.

Pros

  • Employee self service - the apps and desktops GUIs are very intuitive.
  • Leave management - this manages itself through the app and system, saves lots of admin.
  • Customization - you can tailor the system more and more to suit your specific needs.
  • Updates and Customer Service - the CakeHR team gave dedicated a lot of time to bring out weekly updates and systems improvements which shows they are dedicated to making this a great product - the fact that they were bought by Se recently is also testament to their ongoing mission.

Cons

  • Only minor tweaks to the functionality that they have queued to implement anyway.
  • The recipe functionality can be improved as some of the functions are still a bit buggy.

Likelihood to Recommend

Wells suited for startups and SME's as it's well priced and has everything you need.
It could be used for bigger enterprises but depends on the features big firms would want - cakeHR is still growing and now with Sage, I think they will be able to target the big firms.
