ReferralCandy is great!

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

ReferralCandy is currently used for our referral program that is offered to all customers. This allows our customers to refer new customers while offering them a discount when they refer someone. We use this program to help spread the word about our products through our existing customer base. This program is offered to all customers who complete a purchase with our company.

Pros

  • ReferralCandy has an easy set up that is easy to use.
  • The automation of referral candy saves me a lot of time.
  • ReferralCandy has great communication when I need assistance.

Cons

  • I would love to see a multi-tiered referral or reward system so that we can offer certain customer groups unique offers.
  • I would love a feature where you can issue a reward to a customer without them "qualifying for it".

  • Discounted referral rewards.
  • Managing customers and visibility to see how many people customers refer.
  • Integration with Google Analytics, and our email tool.

Return on Investment

  • ReferralCandy has been positive because it allows customers to refer new customers to discover our brand.
  • We'd love to know more about how this affects our customer acquisition cost.

ReferralCandy: All the Sweet With No Downsides

Pros

  • Integrates nicely with BigCommerce's checkout process
  • Easily customizable when it comes to aesthetics
  • Simple and clear admin interface

Cons

  • I think they could offer more granular control when it comes to how and when customers are emailed. For instance, one option just says "Don’t worry! We automatically stop sending reminders if your customers don’t read them". I want to worry, advertising is a delicate balance of trust with your customers and I don't want to turn them off by hitting them up too much.
  • I have no idea if this is theoretically possible, but how they track referrals (through an external site) can be blocked by adblockers. Wish there was a more local (to our website) way to track referrals.
  • It would be nice if ReferralCandy allowed basic dictionary word selection or a "bank" of messages that are the defaults for sharing on social media so that every shared message (because what customer actually changes the default message?) isn't the same.

Return on Investment

  • There's been no negative impact
  • We have increased word of mouth advertising by incentivizing customers who would otherwise not post about our products
  • We have raised brand awareness by having more links pointed back to our ecommerce store on social media
