What is Recurly?

Recurly is a subscription billing platform and manages customer communications via email, business performance monitoring, and account changes. A merchant bank account is required to work with Recurly. A payment gateway is part of the product but it integrates with other gateways, such as PayPal, to give shoppers a more comprehensive suite of payment options.

We were looking for a comprehensive solution to onboard our customers subscribing the ERP solution provided by our company. Recurly was discovered and deployed on our website and it changed the way we billed our customers. Recurly swiftly customizes various pricing tiers and subscription plans with just a few clicks. The customers also loved the onboarding process.

Recurly was initially deployed as a credit card processor for payment of various products and services at our clients facility because of large scale credit card declines. The problem was resolved immediately after installation of Recurly. Thereafter, it replaced the entire payment infrastructure that was used for transactions and subscriptions.

The subscription management is another self service portal which is widely used for making payments.

Being involved in travel and tourism industry, it is crucial for us to have Recurly software with subscription and billing model exclusively for the purposes of ticket booking, cancellation and refunds. Recurly comes with a recurring payment model, which our customers utilize to buy travel insurance which can be cancelled at any time.

  • card declines: this is a big negative, as it affects the potential customer and event the journey of existing customer, who tries to renew
  • coupons were positive, as we could decommission voucherify and use Recurly for the coupons instead
  • needed to move analytics to Amplitude, due to less options
