Propel is our core Quality Management System software tool. We use it for engineering and document changes, audits, corrective and preventive actions, supplier management, nonconformances, equipment maintenance and calibration, and regulatory license management.
Pros
Reporting and dashboards
Customizable workflows
Training management
Cons
Back-end management of training requirements can be cumbersome
Calibration and maintenance could use more automation of recurring requirements

Propel is a solid choice for any company currently using Salesforce and with the ability to manage a configurable system. It would not work well in cases where a company needs a lot of guidance to set up processes the way that they want. It has a fairly intuitive user interface, and adoption for less-tech-savvy employees is straightforward. Economically, it works better for companies with minimal "non-email" users, such as production floor personnel, since all users in the training system will have to have licenses.
Our company needed to understand the impact of product changes on our customers, partners, and channels. Through Propel's project management, we can now monitor how changes to our products affect our customers. Moreover, Propel PLM lets us gather ideas from our customers, partners, and employees to capture specific customer requirements when bringing our products to the market.
Pros
Offers full PLM capabilities on my mobile phone.
Greater flexibility to manage other customer facing processes.
Customer service is very fast.
Cons
Lack of flexibility with exports and reports.
Salesforce has limitations on the page layouts which is not a major issue.

Propel PLM has helped us to determine our product requirements for different markets, regions, or product lines. In addition, it works with our customers to review, update and approve their requirements for our products, hence we can be able to see how changes to our commitments and products impact our milestones.
We use it as a source of product dashboards for our internal team. Helps our executive team keep up to date with our data analytics and make sure we are on track to hitting our quarterly goals. The nice thing is that it removes some of the technical challenges of our senior leadership and gives them understandable data to help make strategic decisions.
Pros
Clean UI
Easy to Access
User friendly
Cons
Customization for development
Pricing
Some features can be found in other products for cheaper.

The best scenario has been easy implementation that has given our leadership team access to our reports. It does have some lack of customization that my development team could build out a bit better. At the end of the day, it comes down to cost and we're willing to have our devs work on more interesting projects than being purely customizable.
Propel is used to manage the product lifecycles in our organization. We set categories for each item so that we can properly autonumber it and then track where it is used in various products across our product offerings. We can also easily identify specific items that can be used as alternates or substitutes so that if we run into any supply chain issues, we can locate additional substitute components to use if we have them available. We can also use Propel for our training needs to ensure that our employees are properly trained on all of the products we offer, any changes that are made to the makeup of those products, annual safety training, etc.
Pros
BOM Management
Usability
Integrations to ERP
Cons
Training offerings
Easier overall management/configuration
More automation between Propel and Salesforce

If you're already using another solution like Arena, Agile, or another smaller-named tool, Propel is just as capable. The big benefit is that Propel sits inside of Salesforce, which is a huge benefit in that users only need to go to one place for multiple different activities. If you're already using Salesforce this is a great opportunity to bring your PLM or QMS workflows into the fold. If you haven't used Salseforce before Propel will get everything configured for you and train you on how to use the system.
