Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Proconnect to complete business returns. There aren't any problems with the product except sometimes it is a little difficult to use.

Pros

Final taxes are clear.
The esignature is easy most of the time for clients to sign.
The dropdown for selecting the right year is clear.

Cons

Clients complain that sometimes they can't get verified.
If there is a problem sometimes its updating imput.
There are times when I'm trying to switch from one screen to the next and it doesn't switch.
Sometimes the errors aren't clear or easy to fix.

Likelihood to Recommend

It has been well suited to amend a return when I had a client that needed to get it amended. There wasn't any additional charge. When it wasn't well suited was when I had another tax return from a previous CPA and couldn't import it so I had to re-create the return.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

The whole organization used ProConnect Tax Online to prepare individual corporate, partnership, and nonprofit tax returns. I used this software nearly every day when I was working. I really enjoyed using this software and I like that it is cloud-based. This software automates our preparation of tax returns. The team was 4 people when I worked there, and we all used the software

I thought that this cloud-based software worked great! However, there were times when I was extremely frustrated when using the software. There were glitches sometimes, and the software did not always work as it should. There were times when inputs would not flow on the correct lines and forms. This was incredibly frustrating when I would contact customer support and they would be unable to help and would give incorrect information

Very efficient software compared to Pro Series. It does nicely address the challenges of working remotely. Our team is scattered globally so Proconnect Tax Online works well for us in that respect.

Pros

Cloud based
Perfect product for remote working team

Cons

Customer service lacks. Difficult to find reps who can help.
They don’t seem to care about the fact that we have uncovered numerous programming bugs in the software.

Very well suited for a team that works remotely and is scattered globally. But that is where the compliments stop.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Proconnect Tax Online for the preparation of tax returns. I do not use it for all returns. However, I use it for some returns based upon the forms required. I primarily use it for business returns and sometimes for an individual return if they need forms not offered by my primary tax software.

Pros

Proconnect Tax Online is linked to Quickbooks.
It is online and does not need to be downloaded onto a computer.

Cons

The software is not set up like other tax software for a tax professional.
Not user friendly.

Likelihood to Recommend

Proconnect Tax online is suitable for certain situations where I have a return that needs to be prepared, and the software I am using does not support the form. The software is not suitable for Consolidated corporate returns or complex returns. Due to the difficulty in finding where to enter certain information and the feel of the software, it is not efficient to use for the preparation of a volume of returns.

PTO is used to process individual, business, estate, and trust tax returns. The web-based software allows us to complete tax returns and maintain copies of raw data (W-2, 1099 series, and other essential data) that is used to prepare and verify with the IRS and various other state and local taxing authorities.

Pros

The software is web-based thus allowing returns to be prepared from anywhere.
Calculations are accurate.
The forms library is robust.

Cons

Not very many software titles outside the Intuit family can be used to integrate with the product.
The UI is a bit dated looking.
Can get rather costly if larger volumes of returns are prepared.

Likelihood to Recommend

PTO is well suited for the small/growing tax practice that wants to start in the cloud.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Proconnect Tax Online to process business/corporate tax returns. Our staff has prepared over 5,000 business tax returns. The software is currently being and has been used to satisfy our company needs to prepare business tax returns for this year and the past several years.

Pros

Allows the typical "cloud" based, use-anywhere software
Allows purchase of defined amounts of returns (bundle packages)
Accurate calculations

Cons

Does not allow users to print all forms. It will display them, but NOT ALLOW you to print. Developers do not have a grasp on the need to make all forms available to print and allowing users to print forms for their records
Will not allow users to correspond with Developers
May spend 4-5 hours of time with support to resolve issues
Be prepared to spend time on hold while customer service 'researches' an answer

Likelihood to Recommend

If you have a return that you can prepare yourself, don't buy this software. If you have a return that has a special situation and you have to call support, buy a sandwich because you're going to need some energy waiting for your resolution or waiting for something that may never happen.

Proconnect was used to prepare individual tax returns. Since it was the first year, we beta tested it with a number of returns. Our system is based solely on cloud use, as such any tax preparation solution had to be cloud-based.

Pros

The software allowed for easy access from any computer.
Proconnect allowed multiple users to access a file with minimal difficultly.
Calculations were accurate.

Cons

In order to provide adequate information within the return, the preparer had to constantly drill down to the necessary screens to provide input.
The program was not very robust compared to software installed on company computers. This is probably why information needed to be added numerous times since Proconnect was not able to remember often entered entries.
The interface with client information lacks functionality. There was little ability to customize views to sort or group clients into usable cohorts.

Likelihood to Recommend

Proconnect may work well in a company with only a small number of returns to prepare.

Proconnect Tax Online is a cloud-based tax compliance solution used to complete the preparation of various small non-consolidated corporate entities and small trusts, It is used within the Corporate Tax Department to support the tax compliance responsibilities of the group. Because it is cost-effective and uses no server space, Proconnect Tax Online is a great resource.

Pros

Ease of data entry.
Perform in-line computations.
Simplicity of navigating between forms.

Cons

Seamless transition to state compliance.
E-file tracking.

ProConnect Tax Online is perfect in situations where a smaller tax compliance solution is necessary. It is a system that is very user-friendly and intuitive, easy to navigate, and accurate.

We use Proconnect Online to file our client's returns. Our project managers manage the returns and I do the efiling and data collection for clients.

Pros

Allows us to collect client's information via Intuit Link. It's easy for our clients to upload their information and ask us questions via Link.
Efiling is made easy. I can cross check the returns to make sure everything matches and then efile.
The Dashboard is great to see where the returns stand and when they have been accepted by the state and IRS.

Cons

Stop having the pop up survey "would you recommend to a friend" every time I e-file a return -- It's annoying.
This year it was hard to tell when a client had added additional docs to LINK and it didn't give me the option to download "all" docs at once. I had to download each individual document!! NOT a good thing.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

ProConnect Tax Online is the tax preparation software tool used in my practice. It is the engine behind the personal, business & non-profit tax returns that I prepare. Additionally, it is tightly integrated with my Quickbooks Online (QBO) practice, as the ProAdvisor dashboard allows you to easily move data from QBO to ProConnect.

Pros

Cloud Based: The world is moving towards cloud based software and Intuit is on top of its game with ProConnect.
Tight Integration with Quickbooks Online (QBO): This is a real bonus if you are using QBO and want to integrate the client's Trial Balance into ProConnect.
Excellent Client Portal (IntuitLink): Using IntuitLink which is built into ProConnect, you can share document requests and documents with your client. You've also got a very user friendly visual "Client Organizer" rather than the clunky pile of paper based forms that many firms still use.
Support: Excellent online chat & support for resolving any issue while working in the software.
Flexible Pricing: Purchase as many returns as you need for tax season.

Cons

A couple of the less common forms weren't included. However, this was during the 1st year I used the software, and I believe these were added subsequently.
A couple of minor "nice to haves" such as ability to print watermarked "DRAFT" on a pdf version for client review.
A couple of the screens could have better navigation.

Likelihood to Recommend

Intuit has coined the term "Firm of the Future" and its products live up to that moniker. If you run a practice that is cloud based, paperless and makes use of cutting edge tools such as e-signatures, client portals, etc., then this product will be a good fit for you. If you are slow to change and want to use the traditional desktop computing environment and frequently print client draft returns for review, use wet signatures, etc. then this might not be the product for you. If you are already using some of Intuit's products and plan to implement more business clients into Quickbooks Online, I would say this product is a "must have".
