What is Preseem?

Preseem is Proactive Growth, Customer Support, and Network Operations for regional ISPs, whether they're fixed wireless, fiber, or hybrid.

Growth
Preseem helps to uncover acquisition and upsell opportunities, deliver great customer experiences, and increase customer loyalty.

  • Customer Loyalty: Preseem helps subscribers achieve a reliable, low-latency internet experience without buffering, lag, or slow internet. Preseem's AP Subscriber Capacity metrics reveal APs that are overloaded and that have room to add new customers.

  • Identification of Upsell Opportunities: Preseem provides high-granularity subscriber traffic-based QoE measurements that can help identify customers who are regularly maxing out their plans. This means support teams can identify subscribers who are good candidates for a larger service plan.

  • Locating Revenue Growth Opportunities: With Preseem's AP Subscriber Capacity metrics, APs that are overloaded and have room to add new customers are revealed. This takes the guesswork out of marketing and lets sales team focus by showing them exactly where the best new revenue opportunities are located.

Customer Support

Preseem helps reduce call volumes, prevent truck rolls, and drive faster support ticket resolutions.

  • Reduced Time-to-Root-Cause: Preseem’s QoE measurements are tied directly to the network topology, allowing support team members to swiftly identify if a problem is in-network (e.g., a poorly performing AP) or specific to the subscriber (e.g., an issue with in-home Wi-Fi), and resolve issues faster.

  • Reduced Vendor Training Costs: AP and CPE Radio Metrics save on both support time and costs by reducing training and vendor-specific expertise requirements for support and network staff. They also provide a common interface that allows the team to answer questions and investigate customer problems without needing access to or learning specific vendor tools.

  • Reduced Support Call Volumes: Preseem provides visibility on each individual subscriber via high-granularity traffic-based QoE measurements. This helps improve customer engagement when they call the support line, as reps can understand what the customer is seeing and look at historical information to confirm.

Network Operations
Preseem gives network operations teams key insights and metrics, eliminates integration complexity, and supports more accurate CAPEX investment decisions.

  • Maximizing Network Investments: Preseem's Quality of Experience measurements are tied directly to the network topology, allowing organizations to target CAPEX investment into areas that are delivering a poor experience. This helps users invest in areas that will help customers, improve QoE, and enable growth. Auto AP Capacity Management Shaping also allows the delay of upgrades on access points while still delivering a good subscriber experience.

  • Mitigation of Congestion Issues: Congestion within a subscriber’s plan rate (or self-congestion) can contribute to a poor quality of experience. QoE Optimized Plan Enforcement helps eliminate common support issues before they begin.

  • Reduced Integration Complexity: Preseem’s pre-built integrations, open APIs, and Automatic Access Network Discovery increase efficiency by requiring less provisioning information, making integrations easier, and reducing the total cost of ownership.

  • Improved Subscriber QoE: Preseem’s QoE Optimized Plan Enforcement uses active queue management to deliver a reliable, low-latency experience to customers. This means subscribers won’t experience slow internet issues, even when multiple people in the home are online at the same time.

QoE and Shaper that helps offer a great customer experience

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Preseem for 3 main use cases. First is QoE, Quality of Experience, which allows us to see our overall network performance as well as individual Access Points. This helps show us if an AP is providing a good experience or if there's issues causing poor speeds and latency. After we are able to fix the problem, we use Preseem to verify improvements in speed/latency.

Second, we use Preseem for rate plan shaping using FQ_CODEL, which helps rate limit the customer speeds to the plan they're paying for while maintaining low latency. Instead of a sluggish experience while they max out their speeds, all applications still feel quick and without issues with VOIP or gaming.

Third, we have Preseem send usage data back to Azotel, our billing system, so we can monitor for abusive usage and handle data thresholds to provide fair usage to all customers.

Pros

  • Excellent web interface that shows all the relevant performance data
  • Great customer service
  • Fair pricing
  • Great rate plan shaping to maintain low latency
  • API integration with our billing systems and many others

Cons

  • Better help guides to train users like our office staff
  • Lack of DPI to classify traffic for customer education

Most Important Features

  • QoE Data in the web portal
  • Rate plan shaping using FQ_CoDel
  • API integration with our billing system

Return on Investment

  • Fewer support calls as a result of better rate plan shaping
  • Better visibility into issues when customers do report a problem
  • Verification of fixes we make to confirm we made things better

Network management tool you needed yesterday

Pros

  • Shaping customer traffic to exactly the speeds you sell them.
  • Streamlining network maintenance/troubleshooting.
  • Easy to use GUI.

Cons

  • The tool could stand to be a little less engineered, but really the ROI isn't there for them to do so. I don't think most of us care about how pretty it looks, more so does it work and can I figure it out in relatively short order.

Most Important Features

  • Shaping.

Return on Investment

  • Preseem has helped me to realize greater revenue per AP.

Preseem - One of the best decisions we ever made

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Preseem is used throughout our entire network. We use it to manage and shape all traffic within our network. The metrics that we derive from Preseem's interface help us to deeply troubleshoot data throughout issues that our end users may be experiencing. It allows us to rely on actual hard historical and current data. So often it is just so easy to blame the ISP for poor network performance when in reality it is often an internal issue. The data from Preseem allows us to show the end-user what is actually happening. It gives them greater confidence in us as a provider.

Pros

  • Graphical real time data of condition of our network.
  • Real-time data of network performance, network-wide, tower site-wide, sector-wide, and down to the subscriber level. Data that is both current and historical so we can see trends happening before a service-impacting issue arises.
  • The comparison of our network equipment performance compared to identical equipment that others have deployed throughout their entire customer base.

Cons

  • The equipment and software are so complete that I feel we are not even using it to its vast potential.

Most Important Features

  • Network Shaping.
  • Increase network resource efficiency.
  • Valuable trusted data for troubleshooting.
  • Excellent tech support from Preseem staff when needed.

Return on Investment

  • Preseem has increased our ability to service our end users without hiring additional staff.
  • Well worth the cost - less frustration for network managers.
  • Runs in the background with little to no input from network manager.
  • Very reasonable cost to operate.
