Paycom is a comprehensive HR and payroll management system primarily used by organizations to streamline and consolidate various human resources functions. Reviewers frequently leverage it for payroll processing, with 53% citing its use, often replacing manual methods, and as a full Human Resources Information System (HRIS) for broader employee management. In TrustRadius reviews, users highlight its intuitive interface and the efficiency gained from its single-platform integration, which reduces manual effort and improves accuracy across HR, payroll, and benefits administration.
While many praise its automated features for significantly reducing payroll processing time, some reviewers noted challenges with advanced integrations during implementation, particularly for 401k and stock options. Reporting capabilities also emerged as an area for improvement for 21% of reviewers, citing issues in customization and data accuracy. Overall, reviewers value Paycom for its ability to consolidate and streamline HR and payroll operations, despite occasional complexities with specific integrations and reporting.
Pros
Efficient payroll processing and automation
Advanced, customizable reporting tools
Responsive customer service with dedicated specialists
Intuitive employee self-service interface
Streamlined benefits administration and enrollment
Cons
Reporting customization and data accuracy issues
Inconsistent customer service quality
Challenges with advanced 401k and stock option integrations during implementation
We were excited to move from another payroll/hr platform to Paycom, with what shared with us during the initial sales calls it seems like a great choice. Unfortunately, as our implementation began much of what we understood to take the workload off wasn't actually the same as presented, no 360 401k integration, no stock option software integration, and significant lag setting up benefit EDI's. We understood no w2 or check history not load in but not that no previous years history of job changes etc that wouldn't load in.
Pros
App use
Cons
expense report functionality
GL reporting
No company card direct payments

We should have requested to have the implementation team do a demo with us rather than sales - we feel that they did not accurately present the material.
We use Paycom for tracking employee demographics, benefits, payroll, and other documentation. It has been a wonderful enhancement to our business processes. The reporting features are phenomenal. The timecard recordkeeping is easy to navigate and our payroll processing time has been radically reduced. Paycom is a friendly and efficient management tool that we use daily.
Pros
Paycom will find a solution. Our attendance tracking isn't simple, but Paycom found a way to integrate our unique process into their design.
Government and compliance tracking is integrated with the entire system. You can track all ACA, FMLA, Workplace Injuries, COBRA, Unemployment, Training, and more in the same place that you track payroll and benefits. The entire system flows together seamlessly. We were able to combine 3 other programs into one when we switched to Paycom.
Employees appreciate the Paycom app. They can complete onboarding, trainings, benefit enrollment, check PTO balances, request PTO, view their timecards and pay history all in one place. They especially enjoy the ability to clock in/out on their mobile devices.
Cons
It would be nice to be able to enter an employee's past pay history (prior to Paycom) for easier recordkeeping.
Likelihood to Recommend
The system contains a vast amount of information, and the entire thing flows seamlessly from one form to the next. When you set things up properly, you can automate several other entries to be updated by just changing one piece of data. The system speeds up your own processes and can reduce your workload in an instant.
Paycom is seriously one of the best HRIS systems out there. After many years in HR I've tried several systems, and I am a huge fan of Paycom. I love their dedicated service contact, who has become an extension of my payroll team; and I also really appreciate that because you can't customize the system, if you adapt your processes appropriately, it always works.
Pros
Dedicated Customer Service
Rapid problem solving
Simplified system
Cons
Benefits Administration
Simplify the application process
Offer more drug testing

This is a great suite of products for businesses who want to know they have the best software available and want to have US based customer service.
We use it as our payroll system. Our Time & Attendance, our Benefits, etc etc. Paycom is mostly like a "one stop shopping place". Not that your shopping, but you can do many tasks right from one program. Employees are more in charge of their information then before.
Pros
Paying Employees on time.
Deducting the correct deductions and amounts.
Reports that need to be run, such as ACA, or payroll reports.
Informing you if any changes need to be made.
Cons
Ask me section is a waste of time in my experience. Most employees just shoot me a quick email or phone. Ask me is to complicated for them.
Every time they assign us a new rep, (about once every 6 months) they want to come out and talk to you and try to sell you other parts of the program you don't want. We don't need that.
Many times Employees swear they clocked in, only to see the punch didn't register. Happened to me as well. Just make more work for me.

Paying people on time is great. Hiring is where it lacks in my opinion. I believe the whole system and how it collect resumes is crazy. Our Managers are now just hiring off their own contacts and skipping Paycom hiring.
Paycom is our all-in-one HRIS system. Previously, the company was extremely manual with everything. Nothing was connected, and if it was, it wasn't done well. Paycom has brought almost all of it together and reduced the amount of time it takes to manage the employee life cycle. It is user-friendly for both the employee (front-end user) and the manager/admin (back-end user).
Pros
Customer Service- problems get solved quickly.
Easy of navigation within the system.
Transparency for administrators- we have the control.
Cons
GL set up can be clunky until you understand how it works.
Be able to edit document types. I made an entire document then realized I attached it incorrectly and had to start over.
Advanced Report Writer would be nice to combine multiple areas into one report easily.

It truly is an all-in-one system. They can do everything from one platform instead of opening another window on another site, keeping everything contained.
We use it for onboarding and payroll services. The product allows us to onboard virtually instead of with paper, which saves time and money for the employer and employees. It also streamlines the payroll process by allowing employees to make their own changes through the self-service platform, make their own time card changes and approvals, and also gives managers a more comprehensive role in payroll and approving their employee's changes and requests.
Pros
Online Onboarding
Employee Self-Service
Time Cards
Cons
Deduction Processing
Website Simplicity
PAF usage
Likelihood to Recommend
Paycom is essential in the onboarding process. Being able to send onboarding via email allows new hires to fill out their onboarding documents on their phone rather than having to come in for hard copies of documents. It also has a great self-service ability for employees once they are logged in. The website does have a ton of functions and info so it can be difficult to navigate at times, especially as a new user.

I am an HR Director, we use Paycom for recruiting, onboarding, payroll, reports, position changes, reviews...... Paycom seems to have great reporting aspects and is pretty user friendly. We've only been using Paycom for about 10 months and the more we use it, the more we like it.
Pros
Track attendance Points
Creates Personal Action forms and makes them easier to manage
Allows a wide range of reporting that can be very useful to any company
Helps a lot with onboarding process
Helps us out with recruiting
Helps with E-verify process
Cons
There is a lot of information in Paycom, so sometimes it can be a little overwhelming

Paycom has a wide range of reports that we can access that are useful to upper management and accounting. It give the employees more access to their accounts so they can make changes, employees are able to enroll in benefits right off the Paycom App, view items and keep up with reviews, disciplinary actions and much much more.
We use Paycom for payroll, expenses, paid time off, benefit enrollment, onboarding, employment documentation, etc. We are able to streamline onboarding to a faster more efficient process. Which is the same with benefits, payroll, pto, and expenses. The prior vendor did not have a robust phone app which prevented us from being as efficient. Now employees can make all changes on their phones. The PTO app allows employees to view their balance well into the future and it is easier to remove PTO. The managers love how easy it is to approve. The streamlined process for expenses is greatly appreciated. Being able to pull the file instead of manually enter is great. The onboarding system has saved over an hour per employee of HR's limited time as a 2 person department for 150 employees. Lastly, being able to have employees complete benefit enrollments on their phones has also reduced HR's onboarding process. Very efficient and effective system.
Pros
System is true single platform and updates in real time, more efficient. When I make a change it updates immediately. Never been kicked out of the system trying to change a function.
Reporting function is the best I've ever used. Easy to use and fast!
Easy to navigate, employees like the intuitiveness of the system
Better PTO system than competitors.
Best phone app on the market for payroll
Cons
Having pay effective date changes. In prior systems I would update a pay with an effective date and that would transfer to the time cards. This system if I update pay the timecards reflect updated pay through the last archived date. Makes it a little confusing.
PTO and Hourly rates- the system does not look at a 40 hour work week for hourly employees. If someone has worked 36 hours and then uses 8 hours of PTO on a Friday the system then calculates it as 36 hours regular pay and 4 hours pto. Prior systems would reduce the regular pay to 32 hours and keep PTO at 8. I have to manually change this when I run payroll.
Shift premium and PTO/Overtime- If a night shift employee uses PTO on a Friday with the same 36 hours issue, the overtime will go to the day shift rate rather than stay at the night shift time. The system shouldn't be looking at the PTO for OT calculation.
Navigating forms. They removed the bar at the top of the page with an arrow/drop down menu to a side bar. The side bar is less efficient in my opinion. I have to click on the bar to be able to change which function I'd like to use. The top navigation was better.

The reporting function is by far the best. Most HR departments utilize this function frequently. Having a great system for reporting is a necessity. The onboarding function is also great and alleviates a lot of stress on HR's end due to less work needed. The system itself functions really well. The benefits platform is the best I've used and is easy to create on my own. Prior I used to spend 3 hours in an excel spreadsheet and then was locked in. Paycom I can make changes in real time if I made a mistake. The amount of time Paycom has given back to me to complete other tasks is unmeasurable. The system has also increased security at our company and our auditing firms enjoy that there is well documentation that we can easily provide. Everyone all around is impressed with this software!
We wanted to have time keeping, payroll, and HRM all in one place. Daily use for maintaining employee information, benefits administration, etc.
Pros
Scheduling and schedule adherence/payroll budgeting.
Employee engagement
Cons
Decent learning curve.
Some support staff seem more knowledgeable than others.
Likelihood to Recommend
In my opinion, if you need to watch your Payroll budget, Paycom is a good option to go with. Seems to integrate well with most softwares and benefits vendors, but not all. I think the training videos for new employees are good. I think the employee self service environment is intuitive for people to learn.
Paycom is utilized from beginning to end at our company - we utilize all the bells and whistles from Paycom! Time and Attendance is used for employee time tracking (we also use a stand-alone android clock on site). We also use Talent Acquisition, Human Resources, and Talent Management. PAFs are the link between all employee status changes. Applicant Tracking has been a blessing with filling our production roles quickly and accurately. The only issue I have truly had with Paycom is the sudden updates and little things that change that we are not aware of beforehand. It tends to cause a delay in our day-to-day payroll operations when that does occur.
Pros
Time and Attendance
PAFs
User Options
Cons
Recruiter Dashboard - more user friendly
Report Center - more user friendly
Likelihood to Recommend
Paycom is by far the best Payroll/HR software that I have used in my 15+years of Payroll/HR experience.
