Paubox & Google Workspace (formerly GSuite) - seamless integration & easy setup! Wish they sold single licenses.

Pros

  • Seamless integration into domain settings (e.g. Google domains). Set it and forget it!
  • Step-by-step, easy setup instructions, make the complicated feel easy.
  • Prompt, helpful, responsive customer service.
  • Provides HIPAA-compliant send/receive encryption for legal email communication of PHI/PII.

Cons

  • Setup instructions to integrate Paubox with your domain look really complicated and daunting (but they are easy to follow because they are totally accurate).
  • Each license is $120 yearly, a totally reasonable cost for its value, but the ridiculous thing is that you are required to buy licenses in sets of 3, even if you are a sole proprietor solo business owner who only needs one license. This does not consider all the independent medical professionals in solo private practice who require HIPAA-compliant email encryption. I still pay $360 a year for 3 licenses because Paubox is the best out there, but very grudgingly, because that is an exorbitant price for one user.

Return on Investment

  • Allows me the crucial ability to communicate with clients via email while protecting their PHI/PII as legally mandated by HIPAA.
  • Ease of use - easy to follow setup instructions, set it and forget it.
  • I couldn't legally use email in my business with clients or about clients if it weren't encrypted - imagine running a business without email in this day and age! Call that a return on my investment!

Pros

  • Great integration with Outlook.
  • Works like regular email.
  • No having to set up users for email recipients.

Cons

  • Only drawback was the actual setup in Outlook was a little tricky. I called support and they made it easy.

  • Compliance with secure email is not an issue.

Pros

  • Seamlessly chooses regular email when supported by our customer, and a secure messaging portal when not.
  • Integrates easily and transparently with existing email tools.
  • Reasonably priced.

Cons

  • The Paubox webmail is very primitive. But we wouldn't want to use that anyway since we already have preferred email tools and only wanted Paubox for a behind-the-scenes infrastructure component.
  • If Paubox is primarily an infrastructure play, which it seems to be best suited for, then it could have a very simple, modern web UX for sign-in and setup. As it is, it's pretty kludgy. But I only needed to interact with it a couple times to se everything up.

Return on Investment

  • Paubox provided a plug-n-play solution, requiring no extra development, so the switchover cost was very low.
  • By integrating with our existing support system, Paubox added no overhead to our customer support.
  • The user experience is great for the vast majority of our customers (those whose email provider supports TTL encryption), so customer satisfaction remains high.
