Parse.ly is a great tool for publishers who want to track engagement and audience behaviour across websites. With Parse.ly, we can easily track metrics like pageviews, time spent on page, and scroll depth to see which content is resonating with our audience and optimize our content strategy accordingly. Our marketers found Parse.ly to be an excellent tool for tracking the effectiveness of our campaigns. We can use Parse.ly to track metrics like referral sources, conversion rates, and engagement by audience segment to see which channels and tactics are driving the most engagement and conversions.
We use Pare.ly to analyze the real-time interaction with our website, portsmouth.co.uk - to see which stories are attracting the most attention, so we can then capitalize on that, and also to see where that traffic is coming from, ie, Facebook, Twitter, direct to our own site, etc.
Pros
Real-time analysis of how content is performing
Being able to compare various data sets, ie, days, individual users' content
Being able to compare performance over time
Cons
Make it easier to access old data
Is it possible to identify which individual Facebook pages traffic is coming from?
Improve the search facility - it sometimes brings up odd responses

Parse.ly is well suited to a media organization looking for a tool that can help you cut up and analyze your traffic in many ways. It is an effective tool for real-time analysis in the newsroom and to see how certain content or aspects of that content are performing over time.
We use Parse.ly to track the number of page views our news stories and features receive on a daily basis. Parse.ly answers the question of what content works with our audiences, and what times of the day it is best to share it. It is also vital for knowing which channel different users opt to use to consume our content, for example, what is read most via search thanks to SEO.
Pros
Gives accurate real-time insights into how many people are reading a story - as well as which social channel they've used to find it and how the story compares to others [at] that moment.
Allows an author to keep an exhaustive bank of their stories along with the data behind them, making it easier to make informed choices on which content to create.
Uses data to place stories in a leaderboard-type format to show the best-performing articles from any given day, week, or month. This helps us create daily and round-up newsletters for our readers based on tried and tested content.
Cons
Page-view data could be more incisive. For example, a drop-down menu inside the Facebook tab which also indicates how many views have come from Facebook Stories, as well as conventional timeline posts.
With Facebook algorithms constantly changing, it would be useful if Parse.ly was able to liaise with social networks to send out best-practice notes to publishers. For example, which kinds of posts - and post reactions - will lead to content appearing on more people's timelines.
Expand the data set for page views in the 'Historical' tab beyond a year.
Integrate newsletter-tracking and subscription conversion data capabilities into the Parse.ly experience as standard.

Parse.ly is brilliant for understanding when spikes in page views happen in a day and what caused them. It is less useful for trying to understand which individual stories have led to subscriptions and conversions. We can of course look at which stories have driven the most traffic, but these are not always the ones [that] ultimately cause people to subscribe to us.
We use Parse.ly to track our website traffic to learn more about how people find our website and track their customer journey. Parse.ly provides more detailed, precise, and accurate information than Google Analytics and similar sites. It's used mostly by our editorial department but also by the entire company, including leadership, who like to see how widely our articles are being read, which ones people are reading, and how long people stay on the site.
Pros
Parse.ly has a much sleeker layout than its competitors. Very well designed.
Parse.ly is easy to navigate, which makes it easier to dig into the data to learn more about its uses: where they came from, how they found you, and how long they stayed.
Parse.ly has good customer service. They are proactive about helping customers utilize their tools.
Cons
Tracking users by age demographic is something I'd like to see Parse.ly incorporate. (This is one area where Google has an advantage over Parse.ly).
Parse.ly's app is not available to Android users. I don't like this because I have an Android.
Tracking page views through third-party publishers (using HTML code) is something Parse.ly can't do for some reason. Our tech people were able to do this easily with Google Analytics, but for some reason (beyond my knowledge), we can't do it with Parse.ly.

I like Parse.ly a lot (8 out of 10). It's really easy to use and visually impressive (visually, it is like going from E-trade to Robinhood). I'm in Parse.ly all day long, so it matters a lot that it looks good, is easy to use, and is largely intuitive to use (though I don't claim to know how to use every bell or whistle). So for media, it's a great tool. I imagine it would be for marketing and things of that nature, but I can't say for sure because I haven't used it for those purposes. Overall, it's an impressive product.
It is used across the whole organization. We use it to track the readership of our content--financial news articles and analysis pieces. The data helps us understand the performance of our content.
Pros
It's very intuitive to navigate and view data by posts, authors, and sections
Data is provided in real-time
Cons
I'm interested in learning more about the visitors, such as the proportion of new visitors vs. old visitors, gender distribution, geographic distribution, occupation information, etc.
I can only view data from the last seven months. I hope to be able to view all historical data.
I'd like more insight on how people find our articles (e.g., if they get to us through Google search, what keywords they use on Google).

Parse.ly is very suitable for tracking the performance of blog posts or articles. It's probably not very appropriate for tracking the page flows or sales conversion (whether a viewer makes a purchase and becomes a buyer) of an e-commerce site.
Parse.ly is being used across the whole organization. It is used on a weekly basis to track content performance and the bookmarklet tools is used regularly to check the performance of specific articles. It addresses the issues of content monitoring, and provides more data than Google Analytics in terms of engaged minutes and social media referrals with accuracy.
Pros
Easy to segment dashboards based on search terms and over periods of time.
The ability to click on particular features of the dashboard (eg referrals) to drill down to more data.
The bookmarklet tool is ideal for quick access to specific pieces.
Cons
Being able to download the graphs from the dashboard rather than just exporting raw data to a CSV file.
Being able to sort search results by date published.
Including LinkedIn stats as part of the main dashboard report.
Likelihood to Recommend
Parse.ly is particularly useful for content management reporting, particularly on specific segments or categories. The dashboards are clear and intuitive to use, and the ability to drill down to more information is fantastic. I also appreciate the way Parse.ly provides regular updates for users along with calls with account managers.
Parse.ly is used nearly organization wide, mostly for real-time analysis of traffic and author content. We are easily able to see what types of content are performing and steer editorial and our writers in that direction. It has been invaluable in determining which of our authors provide the best value for content. Management uses Parse.ly to monitor real-time data and uses that data to determine where additional investments could be made.
Pros
Seeing in real time which stories are performing.
Trend analysis.
Author reporting.
Cons
Greater granularity for graph, chart presets.
Custom time ranges for all graphs, reports, charts.
Add top referrers as options to reports.
Add ability to rearrange content sections.
Add ability to grab a screen snapshot of various graphs, charts for sharing.
Likelihood to Recommend
The service is well suited to author performance where you can see in real time and historical perspectives which authors generate the greatest amount of traffic and who is not performing so well - allows you to focus content spend on those who produce the most. Parse.ly also works well to see what content tags gain the most attention so you can focus your SEO efforts around those keywords to generate better performing content - both in real-time and historical contexts.
I honestly cannot find a particular scenario where Parse.ly wouldn't be appropriate - while Google Analytics (GA4, included) can give you some of the same information, it does require advanced knowledge but it is free. Comes down to operating budgets.

We use it to track page views for our posts on our website, progress-index.com. Our parent company, Gannett, also uses it corporatewide. It lets us see how particular posts are doing and helps us strategize for the future—what types of stories do well and what types do not. Our reporters use the data to see which topics are worth the readers' time.
Pros
I like the real-time tracking, especially the 10-minute option. That tells us everything we need to know if we need to tweak the headlines for SEO.
I like the side-by-side comparison of reporters and their posts. That helps me gauge productivity and performance.
I like the historical tracking of stories. That really helps judge the performance progress of my reporters.
Cons
The phone app needs to be redone to allow for the same features as the desktop and laptop.
That is really the only problem I have with Parse.ly.
Likelihood to Recommend
It is fantastic for tracking progress and productivity and helps us determine the direction we need to take our future coverage. We can see immediately if a story is doing well, as opposed to waiting hours, or even the next day in the print cycle, to see if our readers responded to our stories.
Parse.ly is used by editors and copy editors at my organization to measure analytics on stories we post. We use it to see what coverage of our community is successful and what is not. Without it, we would be unable to tell what our readers are interested in. It is an essential tool for our organization.
Pros
Parse.ly allows you to view analytics over many periods of time. This is helpful when analyzing specific trends over different years.
Parse.ly's interface is easy to access and use. Though there are many tools available, they are all easy to find and use. This makes both analyzing the data and showing the analysis to others easy.
Parse.ly allows you to view so many different analytics. Basically anything you could want to analyze is present all in one place, which is very convenient.
Cons
Sometimes there is so much information on one page it can be overwhelming when first learning to use Parse.ly. A simplified tutorial for beginners would be nice.
It would be nice to get more functionality out of the social breakdown, or to get some data on where the people interacting with articles are (such as what state).
Those two are really the only critiques I have. Parse.ly is so easy to use and comprehensive.

Parse.ly is extremely well suited for a newsroom. This is the only place I have used Parse.ly, and I cannot imagine working without it. We use Parse.ly daily to measure how our paper is doing. It works well for students and professors, and new students are taught to use it every semester. It's well suited both to a business and classroom setting.
It is used by all writers in the organization to track individual performance, monthly unique visitors, and daily results from each writer. We receive the analytics every day to determine our strengths and areas of improvement. I use my individual data to set daily, monthly, and weekly goals. I also compare data to prior periods to track what works best and what needs to change going forward.
Pros
Track individual writer performance.
Track monthly results for the entire organization.
Track the best posts of the month.
Cons
It would be great if I can use this from an app and monitor results from my phone.
Receive updates when I've reached a 100K views on a post or another benchmark.
Receive notifications when the organization achieves a certain benchmark.

Parse.ly is perfect when you have a team of individuals and want to track the progress of everyone on the team to achieve specific company objectives. For example, if you have a team of five content creators and want to know how many articles each one has written, you can check Parse.ly. You will also see how many views and visitors were generated from each author and post.
