Optimizely Content Management System's Version 11 has pretty basic from look and feel. I am sure if we upgrade it will be more user friendly. The permissions around content is also pretty confusing for our end users. Currently they have to manually move it from ‘For this page’ to a specific folder so we can add permissions. They usually have to call me because they don’t remember how to do that.
I use Optimizely Content Management for creating personalized content and learning paths for our membership. Integrating functional tools that path. Our problems focus on identifying the right segment and presenting them with the right journeys.
Produce implementations for various clients as a partner of Optimizely.

At present time, I believe Optimizely is a better offering than other providers on a Windows stack. Its price may be prohibitive for certain companies or markets, for which there's open source options.
It allows non-tech folks to create webpages with tasking developers.
Pros
Rapid turnaround of content
Able to create new sites
Allows for hosting multiple sites
Cons
I would like to the forum have more update documentation
Documentation with more example and code snippets

I really think the CMS is great for companies that need to support multiple sites and have content authors build pages and block with a developers overview.
We use it to provide our customers with an easy/fast way to update/create content and publish that content to the live website. Low turnaround time from request to creation to promotion on the website.
Pros
Content creation and updates
User workflow
Data Import/export to new environment
Easy set up of initial start up implementation
Cons
Editor performance
Easier way to find content that is referencing items that has been deleted

Optimizely Content Management System provides us an easy to use user management system, page publishing interface and tools for content creators to update our site on a regular basis. It connects to Optimizely's Commerce system to integrate ecommerce and static page content into one platform. As a developer, we have full flexibility to create every customization that we require for our business.
Pros
Easy administration
Content Page creation
User Management
Cons
A view of current features missing from current code implementation
Alerts of critical errors
Metrics on server performance issues that can be improved

Having code backend access, Optimizely Content Management System gives more control than strict Saas solutions like Bigcommerce/Shopify for ecommerce websites. There is enough documentation and examples of common use-cases to get started from an amateur or unfamiliar perspective. Optimizely Support is excellent and responds to complex issues quickly and professionally. Highly recommended.
We use it for the company's public-facing website and also as an internal intranet application. Lead generation for a website, an internal portal for employees.

Strong content management tool.
Easy to integrate with other tools.
Cons
Can't really think of anything.
Likelihood to Recommend
Great for public-facing web sites. Great for a personalized intranet portal tool.
