Okta makes it easy to provide or request access to a variety of different systems. It is simple to use and easy to navigate. Its API also makes it easy to build integrations for additional functionality.

It provides excellent access control that makes it easy for admins to approve access requests. Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Okta helps our team to manage all the apps for all the everyday operations, from technical tools, or hr, management, or money stuff. it is centralized and easy to follow up. Update or request new permissions, I think that the usage of this tool has enhanced the everyday life of our organization. Thank you Okta

We use Okta to control all roles throughout all apps and including how long people can stay signed in before reauthenticating in order to quickly cut down access to extremely sensitive private data.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are leveraging capabilities of OKTA in federating Internal and External Applications with SSO using SAML 2.0, Open ID Connect etc. We also manage access policies and enforce MFA sign on polcies via Okta. Okta also helps in identity lifecycle management , access provisioning and deprovisioning via OKTA workflows. Okta workflows are another way to automate several tasks within Okta.

Okta Identity Cloud is Perfect for SSO integrations, Easy and supported by most of the vendors. Also they are supporting Auth zero and fastpass, passwordless login which again helping organizations in staying ahead in the game. They are providing several such features which would help securing Okta tenant in all ways.

Okta is used by our organization across company. We are trying unify login for all of our employees. We are using okta integrated via Google. so far it make our life much easier than we expected. Okta recently acquired Auth0 which makes it more than awesome. We have seen a lot of benefits using Okta.

it was well suited condition we wanted control which users can access which apps. And also when employee is terminated just disabling user, disabling access to any app that control by Okta.

One thing is always problematic session management. Because if user already logged in and there is no way to logout user if user is terminated.

We use it to SSO to all our internal applications. Apps are added by IT as they see fit and then assigned to users. The SSO is convenient and users don’t have to remember passwords for every app. There’s really good support in terms of number of enterprise connections that Okta supports.

Around one year ago TransferWise migrated from Google Single Sign On to Okta to have one identity management system across multiple services in our enterprise. We now use Okta across the whole organization, to ensure security access to all our internal systems.

Our IT team is constantly onboarding and integrating new services so that the experience is the same across all internal services for internal expenses, document management, vacations and health time off, surveys and other internal systems, including engineering specific tools like Github.

Integrating with Okta made our work lives easier, accessing those services is way more simple and secure now - and when an employee decides to leave, it's easier to offboard him from our platform and services all at once.

Okta is really well suited for medium to large organizations when there's multiple third party service integrations and not all of them use the same standards - if your company is not that large, identity providers like Microsoft and Google that also provide work collaboration and productivity tools can handle most of the needs, but once your company starts integrating multiple competing services, and does not want to be held hostage by one large corporation, Okta can be a great tool to achieve that independence and flexibility.

Okta Workforce Identity is used as [a] single authentication tool used to login across all platforms within our organization. It is integrated with other VPNs like Cisco AnyConnect and acts as [a] primary authentication layer tool. All of the company’s communication ( G Suite, Slack, Jostle, etc.) tools are running under same authentication layer of Okta.

A specific authentication can only be granted for maximum time frame of 24 hours. One had to re-authenticate an access session after 24 hours.

Likelihood to Recommend

It is well suited for people who mostly have functional roles in the company like sales, marketing, csm, [and] product management as there are [a] lesser number of tools needed to be authenticated (like G Suite and chat apps like Slack) through Okta as compared to the number of authentications needed [for] various other cloud applications used [in] business.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

The whole organization uses The Okta Identity Cloud as an identity manager for all of our applications. It allows us to easily and securely make sure everyone in the org has the access necessary for the tools they use. On-board and off-boarding employees become extremely easy and there isn't a worry that individuals are storing passwords in a risky manner or creating 'weak' passwords.

The Okta Identity Cloud worked great for password management and centralization. It was very easy for everyone in the organization, both technical and non-technical, to get it setup and use it. It is widely used by both small and large organizations alike, and is a very trusted option for identity management. However, while The Okta Identity Cloud is effective, I've found LastPass, to be cheaper and easier to use, and performs the same functionality.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Okta is allowing us to eliminate the need for our users to have to remember a bunch of different passwords for the various different service and applications that we use. This allows for quicker onboarding of new employees. Because of the central identity management offered by Okta, provisioning and de-provisioning users is quick and simple. Okta supports thousands of applications out on the market, so being able to add new applications to Okta is very simple.

Pros

The adaptive MFA is really flexible to each organization's needs. Being able to adjust MFA requirements based on location and application helps protect the data that needs to be protected, but allows for ease of use for other applications that don’t require as stringent protections.
Multiple levels of administrative rights allow organizations to distribute responsibilities to different teams and allowing them to assist in the administration. Examples are an IT Help Desk Team and an Application Security Team.
Set up is actually quite simple. Some applications do require a little more assistance, but for the most part, its applications are easy to integrate.

Cons

Session cookies have been frustrating. Rather than having an expiration date, they are activity based. Some applications will reject assertions is the Okta session is too old, so having a perpetual cookie messes things up. The option to change this is something that is desired.
Connections to Active Directory are excellent, but there is little control over syncing. It’s either manual or every hour. Change based syncing would help simplify things.

Likelihood to Recommend

When lots of SaaS applications are used in an organization, a solution such as Okta is a must. If there are only one or two applications being used, it is not really worth the cost. You also need to have a person or team that can dedicate a significant amount of time administering Okta, as users will inevitably need help getting logged in or will run into various different issues.
