The product addresses variety of business needs eg. Text and code editing, software development, code analysis, system configuration file editing, creating json files for integration purpose, text file comparison, data analysis etc
I use it to create json files for integration and share it with mulesoft team and they want request and response in json format

Pros

it can format xml into proper format with indentation with the plugin it has
you can compare text files side by side in notepad ++. This is important if we're doing version compare of old code base with new to find root cause of bugs
Notepad ++ is used to do scripting to automate certain tasks. Example. I use notepad ++ to automate data creation in SAP using inputs from excel file

Cons

While Notepad++ is functional, its user interface might benefit from a more modern and intuitive design
Notepad++ has performance issue when processing huge excel files
Notepad++ doesn't have integrated debugging capabilities

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Notepad++ is probably the best Text Editor. It is open-source, free to use, and has a simple UI. It comes with an option to add plugins that improve usability while adding new features to an already powerful tool. It also comes with Regex support which makes text manipulation easy. I use Notepad++ a lot (almost every day) and it has helped me achieve a lot of things that would usually take hours to complete manually.

Cons

It does what it is made for without any problems. I can't think of anything that could be improved further.

Likelihood to Recommend

Notepad++ is well-suited when you have to manipulate text (regex support makes things very easy and fast). It can also be used as an IDE as it supports a lot of languages and can highlight syntax. Plugins can be added to make things even better (according to your use case).

Notepad++ is a real treat among several code editors. I have been using this tool for 5 years personally. We use this tool in our entire organization for code editing and debugging. It's a useful tool for both writing code and copying code from other places. It is an extremely lightweight software. It comes with a lot of useful features.

Pros

It supports over 50 programming, scripting and markup languages.
It has a completely customizable user interface. A tabbed interface is one of the best features of Notepad++.
We can open several files, even with various language settings.
The code syntax is highlighted when the file is saved with a specific file format, making it easy to edit the code.
Another useful feature of Notepad++ is autosave.
Notepad++ is an open-source code editor that is free to use.

Cons

There's nothing about this tool that I don't like.

Likelihood to Recommend

I recommend Notepad++ for all the developers for code editing, debugging, and a lot more. It is a very good tool for writing notes with a lot of features.

Notepad++ is not standard software in the organization but because it is distributed as free software, I personally use it and have seen it used by some of my colleagues. When first looking for a powerful text editor, the available licensed software for this purpose was the commercially licensed UltraEdit. With licensing and having to request yearly for a renewal, I was personally looking for an equally useful alternative which landed me with Notepad++ and I have been using it ever since.

Pros

Persistent tabs that save content even when shutting down the program or dreaded BSOD
Vertical selection for multi-line deletes and edits
Regular expression search & replace
Quick conversion of encoding and newline characters
Toggle word wrap and hidden characters
Lots of plugin support
Notifies if a file has been changed on disk by another app

Cons

UI looks a bit dated.
Sometimes the number of options are overwhelming and require a quick search to figure out where to locate a particular function.
Some way to do a diff between files would be great. Still need to resort to another paid app for that - unless it is a buried function I don't know about or there's a plugin for it.

Likelihood to Recommend

Notepad++ is a great lightweight text editor and is an immediate install to replace the default Windows Notepad for me. It is suitable for quickly opening and editing single text files and for jotting down quick notes that may be temporary.

It is great for quick edits on copy & pasting pages of text. I would use it to update paths using vertical selection or through regex search & replace.

It is not a full IDE for any kind of code editing but it is very fast to open single code files, xml or json and is my preferred way to look at contents in these files rather than opening in a code editor.

Notepad++ is used by our engineering team who does a lot of formatting for files/docs. I learned how to do the basic coding formatting in college and am able to suggest edits based on how I want the files to look. This is very important because understanding the program between users helps create efficient solutions.

Pros

Same format as many coding programs.
Easy to use
Clear text for less confusion between 0 and O - that is an actual issue with some programs.
Help support was great to work with!

Cons

Feels dated, keeps it relevant but the text is very 1980s.
A quick list for copying to a clipboard would be helpful if you are using multiple commands which happens often.
Need to add auto save, when making changes this would be better like other programs who use it. Just create a quick toggle to use or not use.

Likelihood to Recommend

When using Notepad++ you can create the coding in a universal standard text and transfer it anywhere you need. We have a few programs built by SAP that we can use a backdoor for custom reports. These reports have little changes and glitches from updates, the coding is a workaround that about 400 people use in the company.

Notepad++ is an essential text editor tool for everyone. I use this tool almost daily in the following areas.

View and Edit config files
I use it to view and edit .NET app configs and settings files. It has syntax highlighting for most common programming languages, JSON and SQL which is very useful.

Search for a string in all text files in a folder
I use this a lot when doing impact assessment for source codes. This feature is so powerful and easy to use.

Search and Replace special characters
You can search and replace special characters like \t, \r, \n. This feature is very useful when working with SQL statements.

Split/Join lines
Plugs-in

Pros

Notepad++ is good for:
- Viewing and editing source codes where you don't have a suitable IDE.
- Viewing and editing config files (XML, JSON), SQL files.
- Extract data from Excel and build a SQL statement using Vertical Text selection and Search and Replace special characters.
- Performing impact assessment for a source codes using Find in Files.

Notepad++ is less appropriate in the following scenarios:
- Using it as an IDE. Please use a suitable IDE instead.
- Using it to open very large log files.

I use Notepad++ on a daily basis. It's been my go-to scratchpad for notes for over 6 years, it's fast, lightweight, supports a lot of plugins, and is reliable in persisting unsaved notes when closed. It allows me to quickly jot down reminders, meeting notes, ideas, and just about anything quickly and easily so I can go back later and put the notes into project management tools, journals, etc.

Pros

Fast and Lightweight: Opens quickly and can stay open without using much memory.
Simple & Clean: Much faster and easier to use than other text editors, while being more robust than the standard Notepad App.
Flexible: There are some handy plugins for text manipulation, programming, and more.

Cons

While the UI is clean and simple, it's also dated. There are themes that can alter the appearance of the text editor itself, but the icons, tabs, etc. could use a bit of a facelift.
Lack of useful autocompletion for coding while full-fledged IDEs or alternative code editors work fine, it would be nice to be able to write out some quick scripts with suggestions appearing as you type to speed things up.

Likelihood to Recommend

For quick notes, Notepad++ can't be beat. It's fast, reliable, flexible, and robust, without cluttering up the experience. However, it's not a great choice for documents that need formatting (proposals, resumes, business plans, etc.). Additionally, it supports programming languages to an extent, but there are better tools if you need to write more than a few quick lines of code.

I have used Notepad++ for years now to do software coding, holding system settings, and other general needs of software and computer management. I find that it easily holds, manages, and stores all my needed information in a concise and useable manner for my needs.

Pros

Manages colors for organizing software coding lines
Tabbed pages so that you can manage code between different files
Ability to open a new tab, don't name it, close the program, and open it back up with all the data still there.

Cons

Settings could be organized better. Sometimes you have to dig down to find the right settings.

Likelihood to Recommend

I am using Notepad++ to teach my nieces and nephews how to do code. This will help them in the future. They are only 12 and 14, but I found that this will definitely help out. I also use it regularly--even at home--to store information that I might need. I love being able to close the program and open up right back to where I was prior to closing it.

We are using Notepad++ for writing coding or to validate syntax for VBS, SQL etc. Also validate the binary input files. It is a very easy application for file read and write in any format.

Pros

Easy file read and write acess.
Reads many file formats.
Easy coding in multiple languages.

Cons

Selecting a programming language should provide user with Auto fill syntax and validation with respective programming language.
Should get in mobile with Dark Mode.
Option to save in Google Drive or any storage where the files can be accessed anywhere.

Likelihood to Recommend

Read any file format and it is more accessible than Notepad or any open source application. Easy to save and execute.

I use Notepadd++ for everything from taking a few notes, to using it as a full web-code editor. It is so versatile.

Pros

Easy to use.
Expand it using plugins.

Cons

Plugin admin could be easier to navigate.
Dark-mode (which is very popular) should exist.

Likelihood to Recommend

I use all the time when I'm jotting down notes for something. In case anything goes wrong and my computer crashes, I can rest assure that my notes are saved and will return when I load the program again. It is a text editor so features like bold and italics don't exist.
