We use 2 NetApp storage arrays at two different locations,

that are synchronised in case of power or network failure at one location, we

use Snap mirror to that provides asynchronous data replication between our two

locations.

The feature set on the hardware and Ontap OS provides the

tools and features to make sure our IT infrastructures upside is as close as

possible to 100%.

Likelihood to Recommend

NetApp solutions are flash only, the cost is higher than say

a hybrid storage solution and you get lower raw storage than say mechanical hard

drives.

The performance of an all-flash setup far exceeds standard

hardware and the ONTAP operating system pairs perfectly.

For our use case we picked NetApp due to the Security and compliance

features as we are in the public sector it’s an important area for us.

We need a storage solution that worked out of the box with VMware

the integration is easy and even has vvol support for VMware

The disaster recovery solutions built into ONTAP meet the

requirements of the features we were lacking with our previous solution.

Since we deployed this product there is no case of any cyber attacks since it has strong security layer that cannot be easily compromised.

I have highly benefited from the performance of this great tool. Storage and data management programs have been running as planned since we deployed this system. The product has all necessary security features and backup systems that guarantees long-term data storage services. It effectively offers both on-premises and cloud storage services at a reduced cost. Faster data transfer and security has given our team members peace of mind and enhanced them to focus on more productive tasks.

We use NetApp as our primary file system for our Windows shares / mapped drives, as well as for NFS storage for our virtualization environment. We have multiple filers across various sites. We utilize several features including snapshot and snapmirror. It is used across our whole organization at multiple locations.

Likelihood to Recommend

ONTAP System Manager is feature rich and all inclusive. It can work with multiple storage protocols and for various functionalities. It will replace your File Servers and your SAN and put them into one storage appliance. NFS, iSCSI, Fibre Channel, NVMe are all options. Snapshots and Offsite replication (Snapmirror) are all great. I can't think of a scenario where a NetApp wouldn't be a good fit.

NetApp ONTAP System Manager is used within our organization to manage our NetApp filers through a web interface. NetApp ONTAP System Manager is a very easy and intuitive GUI for managing your SVMs, volumes, shares, etc. We use it to make the typical day to day changes but it can also be used to change networking configurations, "rehome interfaces," check diagnostics, and set up SnapMirror relationships.

NetApp ONTAP System Manager is a must-have for anyone that uses a current NetApp installation. In the past I always preferred to use the command line interface. I never really trusted GUIs to make sweeping changes. I always assumed something would go wrong. I've been using System Manager only for several years now (with the exception of the few settings omitted) and I have had absolutely no issues. In my case this has also been key for my coworkers who are not as familiar with NetApp products. While they don't know the CLI syntax they can easily figure out the System Manager interface.

As a company using a third party to manage our SAN, OnCommand is very necessary to give use even read-only access to what our SAN looks like and to allow us the insights we need for our capacity management and projections.

Likelihood to Recommend

I feel like this tool is well suited where you have a relatively small footprint in terms of NetApp devices so they can be easily managed via this tool. I would say that anything over maybe 4 filers and tools like Performance Manager and System Manager come in to their own a little more.
