At first, Navan (TripActions) was amazing. Managing company expenses internally became easier and faster. However, we felt like it had too much for us. We tried to leave Navan, turned off all our employees physical cards and deleted every user account except for our accountants and C-suites. After we requested to close out our account, we never heard back despite reaching out 4 times. Then we started seeing charges to our employees' cards that we had deactivated. Does it make sense that deactivated cards are being used to make thousands of dollars worth of transactions? When we addressed this issue, Navan said our account manager will be in touch (who was supposed to be in touch when we requested to close our account). It's been 6 months since we first requested the close and we still haven't heard from anyone; our cards that are "deactivated" are still seeing transactions even after we removed the cards from every vendor. Please use another provider such as Brex for your company.
Cons
Lack of communication
Backend error of cards and users

If you're an admin at a company and not expecting to stay with Navan for years, don't use it.

TripActions is used across the whole organization. Pretty much all business trip (flight/lodge) we will be using the app and expense directly from the app
Pros
Great price, nice discount
Direct expense export to Expensify
Cons
Sometimes hard to find the exact location, or take some time to search, say Chicago, there are dozen of towns, sometimes I don't have the exact town name, or it is not available in the app.
Hope to have more refundable rate available

TripActions is being used within my organization as a streamlining tool for booking travel. Whether it's a flight or a hotel, TripActions is essentially the only way we currently book any trips. I would imagine it puts everyone on 'level playing field' in terms of pricing (versus some folks using discounted flight websites versus some going directly with their own preferred airline). Within TripActions, my company is able to choose preferred hotels but also allows the users to upload any of their rewards accounts to match your searches with the best option for you (hotel rewards points, airline miles, etc.).
Pros
Searches multiple airlines and hotels at once.
Connects rewards points/airline miles to your individual account.
Easy to use interface.
Cons
Colleagues and I have noticed that if we're based in different locations, hotel prices (for the same hotel, in the same city) are listed at different price-points.
When booking a business trip for more than one person (myself and my spouse, for example, for a company-paid trip where the company includes our +1's), the itineraries are booked separately without notice.

For any company, this is a great way to streamline travel, ability to view who is traveling and when, as well as having all company travel booked on a company corporate card (without having to issue company-cards to each employee).
We are using TripActions across our company for work travel to and from conferences, as well as for finding accommodations while we are there. It allows our Sales department to be able to schedule their flights faster, rather than waiting for HR to get around to it. They have more of a say in where they stay, and are able to use their personal credit cards to gain points that they otherwise would not be able to do with our previous setup.
Pros
Comparing multiple hotel brands based on price, quality, and the distance from the convention center we will be going to, or any designated area.
Incentivizing my colleagues to choose a less expensive hotel by offering Amazon gift cards for such bookings.
Customizable policies based on who the traveler is, as well as for specific trips depending on how I've set it up, which doesn't allow people to book out of policy without my approval. It's a wonderful way to have oversight in an otherwise mostly independent setup.
Cons
I would love to see a partnership with AirBnB happen. The prices have sometimes been cheaper there when booking trips prior to TripActions, and being able to compare that would be great.
Having the option to book a basic Flight as opposed to Economy. It may sound cheap, but for the difference of a large carry-on that ends up needing to be checked anyway, it could save my company a lot of money in months with heavy flight traffic.
While I understand the structure of setting a policy and having the traveler do the booking themselves, I would still love to have more oversight by needing to approve even an in-policy trip.
Likelihood to Recommend
In larger groups where you're needing to book travel many times for many people, you may not have the time/resources. This would make TripActions it an invaluable tool. In smaller organizations that want to have as much oversight as possible (for example, startups), I would think that there just isn't enough customizability in that regard. It can be a bit unnerving leaving things in other people hands if you've previously scheduled all of the travel and accommodations in the past, but being able to see the reports for each booking does help there. If you only travel a couple of times a year it is not that useful.
