One program handles all of our primary needs.

Pros

  • Munis has multiple different sections that each pertain to different areas of our office. For example, there is a section in Munis that is for listing. This area supports all of the information that our county (or any other county) would need to enter to properly tax Business or Personal Property. There are similar sections for collections, vehicles, etc.
  • Munis has so many features. Munis can be set up to maintain foreclosures, garnishments, attachments, and/or executions within its collections sections.
  • Munis has so many features but they all work together which is great because you can see almost everything within the main bill inquiry area instead of having to flip back and forth between areas of the software.
  • Munis also has a finance side which is great because we are able to submit our collections reports to our finance department and they too can use finance to handle that side of the business.
  • Munis is highly customizable due to the amount of features it has.

Cons

  • Munis is nearly impossible to be learned inside and out by one person because there are simply so many different features and uses. (This could also be considered a good thing because it does have features for nearly everything our office could or would ever need.)
  • Munis has the capability to run reports any way you would like. The process to run certain reports can be a little overwhelming for someone who is not experienced in running them. There are multiple steps and processes one must take to run some reports.
  • Munis requires a physical server for the storage of data. Servers can be bulky and in the way due to their large size.

Return on Investment

  • Munis has prevented our office from needing multiple software programs to house all of our information.
  • All of our employees have access to the same information, on the same software.
  • Munis has made day-to-day operations smoother for our office because we are not constantly flipping between programs or software.

Financial Breath of Fresh Air

Pros

  • Excellent for the municipal Financial program. Completely paperless.
  • Workflow is easy and easy to adjust.
  • Very Very user friendly even for the non computer savvy employees.
  • Windows based so easy to navigate.
  • Excellent help desk.

Cons

  • Room for improvement for the Building Dept. software. Could not get it to work so we ended up getting rid of it and going back to our old system.
  • The payroll side could use more fine tuning. You have to manipulate some things to get them to work properly.

Return on Investment

  • Cleaned up our financials by going paperless.
  • Easier to track employee salaries by being paperless.
  • Easier to keep track of union pay schedules.
  • Was not savvy for every department in Town Hall.
