My experience with Motive

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it to track our drivers with front and road facing cameras. We also use it to track our fleet's location at any given time. We also run maintenance reports from it. And our drivers use the ELD's and log their drive times.

  • Tracks the fleet accurately
  • Keeps up with our Maintenace
  • Camera view is good quality

Cons

  • Getting the disconnects resolved
  • getting help to correct logs or HOS
  • Speed limits not right in certain areas

Likelihood to Recommend

I think for a company of our size it is good. It seems to be working correctly most of the time. I'm still hesitant about customer support when we have certain issues. I think we should be able to have more admin control than we do. I think our fleet drivers should have more access and explanations of what Motive does for them.

We use Motive for our electronic logging, telematics, GPS, and fuel card services. It has helped us remain compliant with the DOT as well as keep a close eye on fuel spend/savings.

We use this to have a GPS location for all of our assets in the field. As well as the AI on the camera for our drivers safety.

Pros

  • Always willing to help solve problems
  • The response time that they provide is great
  • The crash detection from there system is above all

Cons

  • Face match feature is a great feature just wish it worked a little better and faster
  • They need to have an import feature for drivers and fleet users to update information

We have begun using Motive to address our needs for improved telematics and camera visibility for our organizations fleet and assist in improving driving habits and create policies to improve the safety of our employees, clients and the general public. We currently have 92 vehicles and 102 towable assets that we are tracking.

Pros

  • Telematics and tracking of vehicles and non-powered assets.
  • Video recording for incident investigation.
  • Video recording for training purposes.

Cons

  • So far, I have not found any areas of improvement relative to our business.

Likelihood to Recommend

The functionality of the software combined with the hardware is user friendly and has drastically improved our tracking capabilities. The addition of telematic data including engine codes will save us thousands of dollars in repair costs and diagnostic times in our repair shops. We also have added visibility when it comes to investigating traffic incidents.

We use Motive to track our drivers and ensure their safety on the road. We keep track of their speed, safe driving, routes, and on-time deliveries if they go off-route at any time. If we need a driver, we can call someone closest to that area.

  • Easy installs.
  • Camera features are nice.
  • Safety events and having to be able to choose what I want and don't.

Cons

  • Not being able to delete a vehicle only deactivate.
  • the app should allow to watch videos easier.
  • I should be able to have more access on the mobile app like I do on the web version.

I don't know what you mean by this. If you drive for a living, then it is suited for you. If you need something that records where your drivers are and what they are doing, then this is a good device to use and is very user-friendly. If you don't drive, then you don't need it.

Our company, Adam Trucking, is using Motive daily, 24/7. We are always connected with them, and we have a lot of cases that we resolve daily. In my personal experience, Motive is a good app for trucking, but sometimes, there are some gaps in its response to us. I have many device issues, and sometimes, I need a quick response from the engineering team. Usually, it takes them one week to respond, which is not working for me. Also, some of the live agents are answering very quickly, and they want to close the case as fast as they can, and they don't even wait for me to answer them and close the chat. Overall, everything else is perfect. The app is easy to use, and my drivers like it.

Cons

  • ELD device connectivity.
  • Creating a feature for listing the drivers A to Z in drivers lists.
  • Improving the edits on violations.
  • Having the option to connect with live agents directly.

They provide good service and help every customer 24/7. They are well educated in providing good products. They give good feedback every time and are kind to every customer that they work with. The driver app is good for the drivers, and they use it without hesitation.

We use Motive for vehicle tracking, ai dual dashcams, reporting, and maintenance. This helps us keep track of mileage/vehicle utilization reports, coach driver safety, and take a proactive approach on maintenance. It has helped us reduce our safety events and make our drivers safer drivers for themself and driver around them

A cutting-edge platform for your ELD and Dispatch needs.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Motive for ELD and have the footage needed post-accident. We do not use the Motive card, dispatch feature, or AI Motive cameras. Motive allows us to accurately track drivers, assess near-misses/coaches, and obtain critical evidence during an incident.

Pros

  • Data points on nearly everything we could need.
  • Customer support: text, phone, or email.
  • Regular alerts on near-misses.

Cons

  • Speed limit signs take a while to update. A stretch in PA and TN comes to mind, and it still has the old speed limit that was changed four months almost a year ago.
  • Split sleeper berth errors: When a driver experiences an adverse driving condition and also properly completes a sleeper split, the system has not acknowledged this several times, and I had to contact Motive to get it fixed.
  • Many drivers have randomly stayed on "On Duty" status, even though they had been driving for several hours.

Likelihood to Recommend

Motive is a great software for any trucking company that requires ELDs, which are many out there. The integration with other apps is also a plus, and we hope to pursue those integrations later. Our service rep has made it a point to check up on us regularly to address concerns, and we appreciate that.

We need eLogs for some of our drivers and want cams in all company trucks for protection. Motive provides that, as well as additional safety monitoring and training, in an easy-to-use way.

Pros

  • Customer service and technical support.
  • Product works well.
  • Easy to use for administrators.

Cons

  • Some things didn't seem to be working right in implementation, but they are working on it.
  • Some drivers had trouble installing the devices.

Likelihood to Recommend

If you have employees out-driving company vehicles with the logo on them, you can ensure their safety and coach them to be careful. It also protects the company vehicle in case of an incident. Many drivers we have hired say they have used Motive at previous jobs as well and love its easy-to-use functionality.

I use Motive for telematics, including tracking, dashcams and safety functionality, maintenance alerts, hours of service, and driver scoring. It keeps us legal when operating the semi-trucks and provides real-time alerts when maintenance or safety-related issues are found.

  • Hours of service compliance and ease of use with the drivers.

Cons

  • More robust safety feedback.
  • Pre and post trip inspection requirements and workflow.
  • Video-based training can be used within the app to enhance driver performance.

Likelihood to Recommend

Motive is well suited to provide compliance with DOT regulations related to hours of service. Motive provides excellent safety data and alerts when a driver has a harsh braking event, speeding, fast acceleration, harsh cornering, etc. Lastly, the maintenance alerts are immediate and detailed so we can proactively fix the vehicles before the problem becomes more extensive.
