My company has used Miro for collaborative ideation during group meetings, and workshops. I am in a marketing function, and having a way to collaborate on projects is crucial within our team.

We also often have the need to wireframe menu structures, or even pages, and Miro is an easy way for the team to visualize what we are trying to convey in a way that words can't do.

I think to keep meetings on track and moving along when discussion spirals, Miro is an extremely effective tool. When you have a group of people on a call and need to keep all ideas in one place, it can be crucial to have a collaborative working tool like Miro.

As a Scrum Master I use Miro mainly for doing Retros and PI Plannings. We also use it for refining requirements and discuss them to create user stories out of them.
We use Miro also to track our progress through the PI. To do that we use Jira Tickets synchronized with Miro.
We use Miro for Teams up to 10 people, but also with around 150 users during PI Planning

I like to use it for Retros and PI Planning and also for Refinement of user stories and requirements.
As I am Scrum Master of multiple teams I need to have open of 10-20 Boards at the same time which is not easy in the Miro App to organize, as you can not read the title of the boards any more.
Changing the size of a lot of objects does not work very well, especially dots and connection lines get funny sizes

I work with teams like sales, design, and product to monitor marketing campaigns using Miro. I use it to map out goals, timelines, and customer touchpoints all in one place. Before Miro, we were using emails and slides, which are difficult to track for us. Now, we can work in real time on the same board. Our main purpose in using Miro is about campaign planning, reviewing campaign results, and sharing updates with stakeholders.

I remember a project where all our different teams were involved in it. I created a board with timelines, KPIs, and customer journey stages, and each team added their input live. We were all able to work together in real time, view the entire project, and leave comments without switching apps, which is why it worked fantastically for us. Everyone benefited from the hours of time it saved, and we made a good profit on that project, for which I was named employee of the month.

We use Miro for collaboration, especially in international workshops on the website. Thanks to the graphic side of the application, it is easy to prepare, for example, the appearance of a mega menu - several people can work on it in real time, leave comments, create workflow for the user.

My team uses Miro to brainstorm, document infrastructure architecture, discuss ideas, model database entities, and a lot more. Obviously Miro is amazing at process mapping, creating architectural maps, and data models but I believe the most underrated use for Miro is just getting ideas out of your head and onto a system where you can discuss them with others. Of the many tools offered by my company, Miro is one of the most flexible and helpful to drive discussions and map and evaluate ideas.

  • I find it hard to remember where to find the icons for various cloud systems even though I use them regularly.

Likelihood to Recommend

I would recommend Miro any time someone has the need to collaborate on creative problem solving of any kind. In my opinion it is THE tool for collaborative mind mapping. It is also very good for documenting certain types of things. It is not, however, a wiki replacement. Managing multiple boards that are related to similar topics can be difficult so it should not be used as a wiki replacement or a replacement for whatever document management system you use.

I primarily use Miro to conduct process modeling workshops where we collectively define existing processes, redesign exisiting process, or design completely new processes. The tool is very user friendly so it makes collaborating on these types of workshops easy when working with groups that are not collocated.

Cons

  • If Miro had the ability to define objects used in process models (such as a system or database) that could be called upon in other processes housed on other boards it would make it easier to ensure processes are referencing the same objects.
  • The ability to access a defined drop down list of predefined objects when created an object in a process model (mainly for software and databases)
  • The ability to use AI to map out relations between objects that have been defined in process models across multiple boards

Likelihood to Recommend

Highly suited for Project mobilization, strategy development sessions, SWOT analysis, conducting lessons learned workshops, conducting process modeling workshops of many types

Not suited for building out a dynamic layered documentation of a business' enterprise architecture but I see the potential for it to be able to.

The one-for-all tool for visual thinkers.

I am currently using Miro as my primary work tool.
It's difficult for me to imagine a more open-ended tool, that can supports me in the most important aspects of my work: think visually, keep things organised and share ideas.
Specifically, I use it for tasks as varied as:

· design low fidelity workflows
· generate product feature roadmaps
· plan sprints and keep track of deliverables
· Create product and feature roadmaps
· Facilitate my research interviews
· Run and moderate workshops
· Keep notes organised for recurrencies
· Conceptualise and draft workflows and solutions
· Benchmark competing features and solutions

I am an advocate of Miro within my company, I believe it THE must-have tool if you are, like me, a visual thinker!

  • Enable rich kanban-style boards with detailed information in each Card
  • Host external information such as PPT, website links, images.
  • Enable curating beautiful layouts
  • facilitate simple wireframe components

  • more wireframe components, perhaps connecting to existing design systems
  • More detail, capacity to add images to the card details (once opened)
  • More advanced AI capabilities to make sense / agreggate post-its

Likelihood to Recommend

It is excellent for Designers, Product Owners, who need to collaborate on the basis of visual material. This involves running workshops to align priorities, keep a central repository of feature development schedule, illustrate features or workflows, align initial effort estimation, and the like.

Miro has room for improvement in its presentation capabilities. I still need to jump to PowerPoint to narrow down the content and make it shine, also use its more advanced transitions.

For developers, it might lack more advanced, Jira-style capabilities, and while it seems possible, I personally haven't had the chance to enable that option in our organisation.

An Essential for Organizing Creatives.

We use Miro as a sort of idea board. We organize all creative things on there to have a virtual whiteboard to illustrate and organize thoughts. This program is essential for organizations with creative types, as it is very expressive and incredibly easy to use. We have used this to plan trips, plot room layouts, and budget, among other things.

Miro is excellent all around. The interactive nature of the program makes it easy to learn, easy to set up, and even easier to implement. This program is so amazing, I use it for things outside of my company. If you are a creative or just someone who is a visual processor, this program is a MUST for your team.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it to collaboratively build out processes and scope ideas in the same live workspace. It reduces the number of 'check in' meetings and keeps things rolling more effectively, as we can add notes and answer questions at convenient times. One team can focus on the now, while uppers and PMs can concentrate on the next steps. It is far better than the disjointed state we were in prior to using Miro.

  • Less... meetings...

Cons

  • Permission management was difficult for my team to inherit (company did not do a great job rolling it out, cleanup always sucks).
  • Not trying to shill too much, but for what we've been doing I haven't had any other real pain points come up.

Likelihood to Recommend

Reducing meetings and making necessary meetings more effective by allowing multiple people to interact with the same shared screen. Notating on the fly, moving cards/notes/whatever around as we discussed priorities and ideas were seamless. Our IT leaders even used it for team management, as some developers would move during different sprints based on specialties and requirements.

Use Miro to immerse yourself with my Digital Product Squad. We work with several demands in the after-sales area in the construction industry. We do dynamics, research, meetings and minutes of our meetings. It's a great way to brainstorm and vote, as well as make final decisions as a multidisciplinary team.

Miro is intuitive and easy to use. It is very good for immersion and dynamics in large groups online. It helps with visualization and has good navigation. Some things need to be adjusted, but it is a great application for dense work and for those with many people in the room to solve problems.
