We are utilizing this product for the development of real-time updating data market and dashboards for the provisioning and monitoring of marketing analytics. Moreover, by the means of the Microsoft Power Bi tool we integrating dozens of data sources into single data market, which includes Oracle Database System, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MariaDB, data stream from RabbitMQ, and integration with ELK stack.
Pros
Real-time dashboards representing data and marketing analytics
Integration of several types of data sources such as Oracle SQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB and so on
Unified data market composed of different dashboards from different data sources that are being updated automatically in the real-time manner
Cons
Proper integration with ELK stack - we have encountered that there is no direct way of integration, therefore we have done it through a "bypass" way which is not convenient
Very crowded user interface - the entry-level bar is high for average digital users. Also, it is blocking the view of the dashboards.

This product is very convenient to use and implement and is considered a "de facto" standard in the Business Intelligence sphere. First of all, it contains numerous features in terms of visualization, data provisioning, data source integration which makes it a perfect tool for the development of BI analytics. Secondly, it provides great capabilities for the development of data markets for the whole development team. Thirdly, the sharing capabilities of dashboards that are updated in a real-time manner provides great incentives for end-users.
Our company uses the Microsoft Power BI in order to find relationships and visualizations of the relationship between productive variables that are difficult to correlate only by intuition. Is especially useful to produce an easy-to-understand visualization from the data we have into our ERP, which lets the management spend less time looking at unsorted numbers.
Pros
Correlate variables
Data visualization
Ease of understanding of correlation between productive data
Cons
Some of the connections could be more easy to configure
Likelihood to Recommend
The scenario where it shines more is in the treatment of data that is not easily correlated at first sight, it helps to find causes of unsuccess in productive environments. The only thing that is required is to have properly collected data to feed to Power BI, so it won't be useful in environments where the data is not collected with care, since the representations won't be representatives of the reality.
My organization is a focus in work on solutions for the customer using BI as a source, as consultants we work closely with the customer to understand the necessities and convert the raw data in dashboard easy to understand for the people involved in the departments of the organization. Normalizing and presenting the information in an easy way is the most important to keep the people engaged.
Pros
Display the content created in the platform that all the members required.
You can manage the experiences of the users.
You can filter the data in a easy and efficient way.
Cons
You need to have Azure to embed the information.
Has some problems with forecasting budgets.
Maintain a business model that doesn’t scale.
Likelihood to Recommend
Well when you analyze data in Microsoft Power BI and create a dashboard with specific KPI that you want to track, then you want to display the information in your own webpage to show at the stake holders and your customer the results in real time, then you can save a lot of time. If you are not using Azure as your main software, then this can be a big problem.
I use Microsoft Power BI Embedded to import my raw Excel data, and turn it into visually appealing, interactive graphs that can help paint a clearer picture of our firm's position. It is used to create dashboards for quarterly reviews, as well as to show monthly performance. It is fairly dynamic and can be easy to use at times.
Pros
It does a good job "acting" like Excel in the sense that once the data is imported, you can still go ahead and add/remove columns, filter rows, change data types, create calculated columns, conditional columns, etc. This makes it easier to learn.
It does a good job of offering a clean and organized layout. For example, it is easy to switch between views and understand what each view is meant for.
It is good with its data import functionality. You can import data from multiple sources (e.g. Excel, SQL servers, etc.). From there, you can use Navigator to choose/pick the data you want to import, as well as see a preview.
Cons
Similar to how Excel has VBA, Microsoft Power BI uses PowerQuery (M/DAX). Though DAX is similar to Excel in terms of how it is written, I just think it's something that would be difficult for new users to figure out.
Something I would like to see done differently in Microsoft Power BI is the ability to have presets for sorting/arranging of visualizations. Though it is nice to arrange the dashboard freely, it would also be nice to have preset arrangements based on visualizations (for those of us bad at making dashboards look appealing).
With Microsoft Power BI, it is hard to show others your dashboard using the free platform (unless you show them from your computer/account). This can cause issues if your firm is trialing Microsoft Power BI before purchase.
Likelihood to Recommend
Microsoft Power BI is well-suited for firms that have a need for dashboard creation (e.g. KPI dashboards, financial dashboards, etc.) for the purposes of monthly/quarterly reviews, or even just to assess the financial health of their firm in a more visual way. Microsoft Power BI does a great job presenting interactive visuals to convey data better. Microsoft Power BI is likely less suited for firms that do not create or maintain dashboards, or for individuals/teams that are not a part of assessing the financial health of their company.

We use this outward for everything and anything from planning meetings to submitting work. It is a very easy-to-use software that anyone can use. Our supervisors give us work through this software which is again easy to see and use. I would recommend this software to anyone working in school or outside.
Pros
Easy to use.
Very helpful data.
Data is well laid out.
Cons
The amount of time it takes to collect all the data.
Signing in takes longer than expected.
Cost is a bit high.

While working in a company is always necessary to look at reports and data from different sections. In my internship, I was placed in a team with over 40 people, and to help tackle a problem we needed to have a central area where we shared work and also shared data.
We utilize Microsoft Power BI Embedded for cross modular analytics such as manufacturing and procurement, supply chain kpi integration with finance kpi, managerial reports showcasing profitability kpi with business turnover in format of supply chain coordinate such as profitability per manufacturing line etc.
Pros
Cross modular dashboards
Pivot table capability through horizontal and vertical flexibility
Integration of separate databases for creation reports
Cons
Cloud compatibility
Cresting readily available platform for configuration
Integration with machine learning
Likelihood to Recommend
Well suited : Dashboard with slicing features for profitability kpi
Less appropriate: complex multiple kpi integration scenarios
We needed a tool to track the rollout of the O365 mobile apps to the several thousand corporate mobile users within the company, in a way that was visual and engaging. We built an interactive Power BI dashboard which was embedded into an existing web application used by the core project team and project stakeholders. The dashboard showed the number of users who had followed the installation process, and could be filtered by region, country, company code, job role, division etc.
Pros
Easily embedded into existing web application
Allowed us to easily create engaging interactive dashboards
Displayed rollout data in a meaningful way and made it easy to report to the project sponsor and senior management
Cons
It was a little difficult to work out how to create certain visualisations, but there is extensive online help material to support with this.
Had some issues with assigning pro licences but these were quickly resolved
Small learning curve but no more so than similar applications
Likelihood to Recommend
We found that Microsoft Power BI Embedded met our requirements completely. It was particularly well suited to meet our need to create engaging and interactive visual dashboards to track the rollout of the O365 mobile applications to all of our mobile users company wide. It was probably less well suited for scenarios where only a small, simple visualisation is required - in these cases an Excel chart embedded into PPT would be suitable.

Some of the business problems Microsoft Power BI Embedded was the ability to integrate with Salesforce to pull in report data for presenting KPI's on our TV Dashboards. This allowed our agents to view real time stats as well as averages too. Being able to have a visual data representation is also powerful as we can then focus in on issues that require to be addressed. Sharing reports and dashboards is also very helpful across cross functional teams. Linking these to other integrations is also helpful too.
Pros
Creating data visualization
Ease of leveraging dashboards
Report filtering logic to slice and dice data
Cons
Learning curve for someone new to BI
Cost
Large data sets are a challenge
Likelihood to Recommend
For data sets that do not require extensive slicing and dicing, it's a great tool for example, if we want to pull in our daily phone metrics from Salesforce it works well. However if we have larger data sets such as case data over a longer duration and try to find trends across data points, it does become a challenge.

There are two main ways in which we use Microsoft Power BI Embedded in The University of Sydney (in the context of academic / teaching staff in the School of Architecture, Design, and Planning). Firstly, Power BI is used to provide information about the students that are enrolled in different study units. This includes such information as country of origin, age, chosen degree, first language, grades, etc. This information is visualised as bar, radial, or line charts, which are very intuitive to use and understand. It is also easy to sort and search for required information. This is really helpful for me as a course coordinator because it allows me to know my students better and adjust my courses delivery accordingly. Secondly, Power BI is used to communicate information about our teaching loads. Again it is a pretty intuitive tool with an easy-to-use interface, which is able to communicate complex data in a very engaging way.
Pros
visualizes complex data (from excel tables)
engaging look
easy embedding to web
Cons
it mostly only allows one way interactions
user interface can be improved
limits on including data
Likelihood to Recommend
Microsoft Power BI Embedded is an effective tool for creating data visualisations and communicating those custom visualisations to your audience online. It is well integrated with Excel, which is really handy if you already use Excel in your work environment.
Microsoft Power BI Embedded is an intuitive solution for querying data in an easy and presentable fashion. In our current work environment, we utilize several platforms for our various branches that we work within. The API solutions that Microsoft Power BI Embedded allows give us a means to bring it all together and break it down in a way we can use.
Pros
Ease of use
Compatibility with others
Scalability
Reporting
Cons
Training for end users
Data manipulation
Data quality
Likelihood to Recommend
Microsoft Power BI Embedded is a great solution if you have either the deep pockets to hire a team to build reports, or have someone in house to do so. The ability to pick up this software and run with it may be a little difficult for the average user. However as an end user it can be very useful in seeing data in a unique way.
