Microsoft Defender for IoT

We have multiple clients with industrial IoT devices in their manufacturing plants and a vendor who sells smart (IoT) devices to monitor specific machinery. Those IoT needs to be monitored and secured as they collect confidential data and logs which are then used by analysts and engineers for business decisions. And it is my job to provide and equip them with the best security tools present. So, I configured Defender for IoT on them.

Suited in almost all situations as it has a server less option where if your end device cannot bear the load of an agent, it could be used to protect the network. The comprehensive dashboarding and its integration with Microsoft Defender 365 and Sentinel allows automated remediation and full incident investigation at a single pane. If you don't have a 24*7 SOC team this ca come handy as you can automate workbooks and scripts to run with custom triggers.
I haven't faced any scenario where it is not a suitable choice.

I have consulted multiple MNCs, especially home security companies looking to shift to Azure. Microsoft Defender was used for full security layer of a company's IoT environment. Easy and Seamless Azure Integration with IoT devices makes Defender the top choice for companies already using any Azure Services. Having a full security plan and global threat protection without any performance hits also provides a great advantage among its competitors

Companies that are not using Azure cloud exhaustively will struggle with maximizing the potential of Microsoft defender as multiple important features require the use of IoT Hub etc

The product definitely shines though, when integrated with it's friends, i.e when used collectively within microsoft ecosystem. Paired with Intune and IoT Hub, it does a phenomenal job at providing global protection including automated threat protection and cross domain network security features

This Microsoft platform is very stable and secure in data handling and the functions are very powerful to easy handling different data with various types and formats. The deployment of the product is also easy for IT users and it allows easy data threats management and monitoring of Cloud services and creating reports is very simple.

The Microsoft software is more efficient and stable enough for the user to protect the project data from one platform and the interface security setting is very easy. The environment that the platform offers to the user for multiple data pulling and creation of accurate and useful data analytics is very secure and threats detection functions are very active and responsive.

Our client needed this for security purposes and since we're running our systems via O365/Azure anyway it made sense to continue using Microsoft products. Needed to improve compliance and risk management without breaking the bank. We already have a pre-existing relationship with Microsoft so this made sense.

This is a good product for all PC environments as it can find assets and monitor without too many problems. Likely won't be as great for a Mac or Linux environment. For monitoring etc this is solid software that should have more features as time goes on
