We use 365 primarily for Outlook—we don't use the Exchange server, but we do use IMAP, so this serves our purpose perfectly. We also use Word for some minor invoicing and Excel for our pricelists. Sometimes, we will use Publisher, so we are glad we still have the option to use it.
Pros
It allows us to keep our email organized. I like the fact that I can create folders in Outlook, and they replicate on my mail server.
Excellent for drafting and saving those documents as PDFs without needing PDF editing software.
Spreadsheets - what more is there to say?
Cons
Fix Outlook. It crashes constantly, uses way too many resources, and freezes to the point that I need to shut it down in the Task Manager.
Excel could use an easier numbering function. I used to drag down, and it would number the cells ascending. Somewhere, it lost this function and just copied the same number down the column, which is kind of useless.
Someone needs to create (and include) a quick and easy cheat sheet for commonly used formulas. It would be nice if a drop-down would let you choose a formula (without all the prior programming).

I usually recommend Microsoft 365 to my clients to keep them away from the Exchange server (sorry!) Our business has a lot of issues with exchange email functions and copy machines. I always recommend they download the desktop version and use the online version as needed. You never know when you will be without an internet connection, but you can usually trust your laptop will have a decent charge, and you can still be productive! Let it sync when the powers are back on - or your connection is alive.
We are using Microsoft 365 which includes Exchange Online for mailboxes, SharePoint Online for collaborations, Teams for messaging, etc. There are 2000 users in all and we use E5 license for all the users who use company laptops. We also use Security and compliance feature in Office 365 to keep our data safe. Exchange Online archiving is enabled for all users. All the mailboxes are on legal hold so that data would be available even if user tries to delete it intentionally or has left the organization. Sharing of files and documents from OneDrive and Sharepoint is not allowed externally. Only internal employees can share within themselves. In case users wants to share it externally we add the external users as guest through Azure portal and then allow them to share it via Teams after getting the Non Disclosure Document betwen the parties.
Pros
Management of mailboxes is done very well in Exchange Online in Microsoft 365.
Security and compliance feature has many application which help to keep your organization secure and compliant.
Teams and SharePoint is wonderful tool for collaboration.
Cons
Microsoft 365 really needs to work on protection part. In complex environment it is not reliable as compared to its competitors like Proofpoint. There are many instances where it fails to perform effectively.
In SharePoint Online the versioning feature of the document needs to be improved by Microsoft. Sometimes when we have to roll back to the previous version it does not work as expected.
In Teams messaging and app permission policies can be improved. There are some settings where we have to add a lot of things manually.

I have been working on this product for more than 10 years now. This product has evolved and made tremendous improvements during this period. This product is a complete package and suitable for almost every environment. It will work in simple, medium, large and complex environments. Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams and OneDrive will fulfill your business requirements. There are features like Data classification, labelling, records management, Ediscovery, Legal hold, ATP, DLP, Defender which are must in every organization.
The only thing I am a little not confident about this product is its reliability on protection. It is not as efficient as anybody would want. Even if you apply stringent of restrictions it can still be broken and Spam or other malicious activity can enter.
Microsoft 365 is used by our whole organization. This includes the following suite of apps: Word Excel Powerpoint Onenote Teams Onedrive All of our marketing material and presentation material is created using Powerpoint with a custom-made template. Although we use Slack for our internal communication, many customers we interface with use Teams, so with having Teams it allows us to communicate with them. We use the Onedrive or Sharepoint to share documents and material via the cloud and utilize the restricted access features of onedrive and Sharepoint. For documents that require to be exported to document control management tools, we start them in a Microsoft Word format then convert to PDF. Any time sheets are required, it will either be done via Excel or Google Sheets.
Pros
Syncing via the cloud.
Collaborative editing and creating of documents.
Clear communications via Teams.
Cons
Too many places to edit (in Teams, in the web app version of the application, in the desktop app).
Sometimes if editing via the desktop version, sync doesn't always happen smoothly.
When editing via web app or Teams version, there are limited features in the ribbon.
Likelihood to Recommend
Microsoft 365 is a very integrated suite of applications and works well across both Mac OS and Windows OS. I think it can be considered the gold standard for creating documents, presentations, and taking notes. Where it lacks is the way it integrates all of its applications in the collaboration space. For example, when editing specific documents via the web app or in Teams, the ribbon does not have all the features compared to the actual desktop applications. I definitely like how the collaboration space is always constantly improved and is more efficient. It's a much smoother experience when all party members are editing via a web app compared to when some are using the desktop app. Sometimes the desktop app versions do not sync or connect properly. Otherwise, in general, I would recommend Microsoft 365 as a good set of collaboration tools.
Microsoft 365 is used company wide. It is our go to program.
Pros
Excel Reports
Office letters and Correspondence
All Email
General Company Forms & Templets
Cons
Some of the advanced features can be hard to access or find
Spacing of text in Word can be tricky. Won't let you edit.
In Outlook; labeling a spam email as "junk" does not stop the sender from sending. Fills up the junk folder.
Likelihood to Recommend
Word is still one of the best apps for writing, no matter the genre. Whether it be forms, office letters, notices, etc. There is not much that Word cannot do. Excel has the best report structure for what we use everyday. In addition to our standard payroll software, we use an excel to reconcile our payroll. Excel makes sure no one or nothing is missed. Outlook is used company wide for all email correspondence.
Microsoft 365 is the go-to suite for office productivity-spreadsheet, word processing, PIM Outlook and presentations. It has improved significantly in terms of usage and settings across multiple devices and platforms. The subscription model has helped with keeping users on the same version and up to date. We also find it is very effective with One Drive.
Pros
Calendar management and scheduling
Spreadsheets
Presentations
Cons
Sometimes difficult to find particular features and functions
Capabilities are so extensive that many go unused with substantial training
Should have secure email built-in
Likelihood to Recommend
It is the foundational software set for office professionals who use spreadsheets, create or edit documents and presentations, and maintain calendars, to-do lists and contacts. It is fully featured beyond the needs of many users but an essential set of applications. I can't think of an office scenario where it isn't appropriate or essential.

Several apps from [Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365)] have being used by my organization. For presentations or procedures, we use Powerpoint. For reports, we use Word. For communications and calls/meetings, we use Teams. For emails & calendar, we use Outlook. All individual data which is not saved on servers, is being saved on OneDrive in case of a machine failure. For calculation sheets, we use Excel.
Pros
It is intuitive and user friendly
It is constantly improving to add new features
The Microsoft suite package has a software for any general need in an organization.
Cons
In Teams, it is currently not possible to change the channel's privacy from private to public. This is definitely a big challenge for us to work around.
In Teams, the video settings such as background photo can only be changed while inside a meeting. This does not make much sense since you need to have a suitable video set up before entering a meeting.
Likelihood to Recommend
There is no way around not using Microsoft 365 [(formerly Office 365)] if you are using a windows computer. The package has almost every software required for an organization. It is secure and intuitive with frequent updates to improve even further. It is great value for the price, and you are certain the generated files are compatible when sharing them with other organizations.

Engineer in Engineering (Mechanical Or Industrial Engineering company, 501-1000 employees)
Microsoft 365 is used office wide, primarily for Word, PowerPoint and Excel. While there are cloud based options (like Google sheet/slides/docs, etc.) 365 is pretty much the standard office program for the world. The reasonable cost of it is a big bonus as well, especially for a small business, as we don't have the biggest tech budget. Being able to have the preferred industry standard for a low price helps us a lot.
Pros
Word is great for doing basic documents, contracts, etc.
Excel has been ever evolving and is now so much more than a spreadsheet program, but a way to visualize and appreciate data in new ways.
Powerpoint is fantastic for making presentations that can easily be turned into videos or shareable documents.
Cons
First time install and setup is always problematic. Most new computers seem to come with a stripped down trial version and getting it to accept my license code to activate it is a pain. So much so that I typically will just uninstall it from a new computer and do a fresh install.
Likelihood to Recommend
If you are using anything other than Microsoft 365, especially Word, and take your documents into something like Google docs, Google will invariably butcher your formatting (and vice versa). Since most companies and higher education institutions all use Microsoft 365 it is just the prudent move to have it installed on your computers. The cloud version of Microsoft 365 is a bit more limited, but is useful for creating documents collaboratively, since multiple people can edit them at once.
Our company adopted Microsoft 365 a few years ago. Having this included for our office employees has changed the way we do business. No more version differences, no more need to find CD's to download, no more purchasing Microsoft programs separately. This all inclusive plan takes care of it all for us.
Pros
Updates - Always have the latest version.
Easy downloads - Straight from the website for new users.
Easy admin tools.
Cons
Linking with GoDaddy, OneDrive is not useful to us.
When you save, it wants to save to OneDrive every time instead of remembering the local drive.
Ability to add Microsoft programs, such as Project, without purchasing separately.
Likelihood to Recommend
Microsoft 365 can be used by a small office crew, or a large corporation. For a small office crew, the Teams and other features aren't usually used. However, the ability to add a user, and then download all of office at one time is a benefit I wish would have been available years ago. If you are a smaller company, this can still be use[ful] for you.
Microsoft 365 is the application of choice for authoring, editing, reviewing, and collaborating on documents, spreadsheets, presentations and more at my organization. It is used across all departments and is ubiquitous regardless of operating system and system type.
Overall, the application is used for documentation and creation of materials for the communication of information - whether through graphics, text, or formatted data (i.e. spreadsheets and such). There are also specific tools within the suite that are used for more targeted elements such as note-taking, project planning, and creating flowcharts.
Pros
Very high powered - the application is capable of virtually anything that you need it to do.
The application has features that make it easy for multiple colleagues to collaborate on a single item.
Microsoft 365 is widely adopted and thus, does not suffer from compatibility issues with other applications.
Cons
The user interface can be complex - although it is relatively easy to learn basic functions, it may take a while to become truly proficient.
Due to the many interfaces it allows for, it can be prone to generating errors that require uninstall/re-install to fix.
It requires a subscription, which means that there isn't a permanent product.
Likelihood to Recommend
Microsoft 365 can be used to satisfy all main office documentation needs, from text documents, presentations, data crunching in spreadsheets, scheduling, project management, and flowcharts and other graphics. It is a great general utility application that serves most needs. The scenarios in which it is less appropriate include very niche spaces such as high-end graphics needs, photo editing or handling of other media. Additionally, while some basic data analysis can be done using Microsoft 365, higher powered packages may be needed for complex analysis and computations.

Engineer in Engineering (Medical Devices company, 5001-10,000 employees)
Microsoft 365 is used across our organization. The most frequently used apps are Outlook, Excel and Word. Teams is also used heavily among the technology business. PowerPoint is used throughout the organization, as well. Communication, collaboration, analysis, documentation and presentation are all covered with the suite of Microsoft 365 apps.
Pros
Microsoft 365 is the standard office solution at every company I've worked for.
Familiarity goes a long way. Not having to learn the nuances of a different spread sheet or word processor app saves time and effort.
Microsoft Teams really ties the suite together with it being a central point of collaboration and sharing.
Cons
There are some real helpful features within Word and Excel that are buried very deep. It's a double-edged sword. It's great to have this depth of functionality, but these features are so well hidden, that they are practically undiscoverable unless a guru shows you or you want to spend time reading a technical manual on Word or Excel.
Teams is great for collaboration, but can also become unwieldy. It becomes difficult to keep track of all pertinent communications across many teams, channels and threads.
Likelihood to Recommend
I truly think it's suited for all businesses. The apps have been around and evolved for years. Microsoft 365 is the tried and true office suite of apps. So many people are familiar with these apps and choosing anything else will just mean most employees will need to expend a learning curve to get ramped up.
