MessageGears - Good if you're an engineer

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use MessageGears as our main email marketing platform. The intent was to utilize the platform for highly personalized and segmented marketing campaigns to support our brands.

Pros

  • The MessageGears Support team is very helpful.

Cons

  • The platform is extremely literal. Every possible scenario (included unsubscribes) must be written into every audience query.
  • Messy user interface
  • Email development is overly complicated.

Likelihood to Recommend

Unless you have someone on your team who is an expert in writing SQL queries and APIs, this platform is not for you.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

MessageGears is being used by both the Lifecycle Marketing team and the CRM team to send email. We use this service to drive sales and to support active customers along their lifecycle. MessageGears lets our organization leverage our first-party data to drive pertinent messaging to our current and potential clients at the right time, and for a reasonable cost.

Likelihood to Recommend

If you have a large amount of first-party data and your email marketing team knows how to code in SQL, then this is the platform for you. Take direct control of how you define your audiences and send email at enterprise level with very little issues. There are of course some downsides to a system like MessageGears, but they are balanced by price and product capability.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

MessageGears is used by our marketing department (4 out of 7 team members use it daily). Our emails are coded in html, loaded up into MessageGears as content, and then blasted as campaigns. We also deploy triggered messages. We've built a custom connection with MessageGears to talk to our large database.

  • Flexibility in setup

Cons

  • Due to our custom connection, we miss out on some features
  • Our organization codes in HTML versus drag and drop editor
  • Education on new enhancements

Likelihood to Recommend

MessageGears can be a solid, inexpensive email solution and you can be able to send millions of emails per year. In 2020, we delivered over 235 million emails at a fraction of what that would cost with any other email service provider. We worked with MessageGears on a custom solution with our database.
