What is Medicai Archive (VNA)?

A decentralized cloud based infrastructure that enables secure and compliant imaging data management (secure access, sharing) as well as long term archiving capabilities (vendor neutral archive) and backup and recovery flows. The solution connects to the local infrastructure (cloud PACS, modalities) and makes the data available through a cloud layer to doctors and patients.

The vendor states Medicai is live in 50 hospitals and clinics, over 4,000 doctors are on the platform, and it manages over 1M medical imaging studies (MRI, CT, PET-CT and other DICOM files).

Complementary to the Medical Imaging Infrastructure and Archive (VNA), Medicai provides doctors with an Imaging Doctor Portal (web and mobile) where doctors can access and view imaging studies using a zero-footprint DICOM viewer. Patients can also see their imaging files through the Patient Portal.

Key benefits of the Medicai Archive (VNA) are:
  • Connects and syncs all PACS/VNA with the Medicai Archive
  • Leverages cold storage tiers to decrease storage costs
  • Compatible with public cloud providers (Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS etc)
  • Cloud-native and scalable solution
  • Smart information lifecycle management - retrieve data to local PACS automatically
  • Reduce pressure on PACS by moving data dynamically
  • Smart Disaster Recovery & Backup
    • Medicai Archive acts as a backup but has a 30 day data buffer ready in hot storage
    • In case of incident users can spin an "Instant cloud PACS" and connect modalities. Resume operations in a 24-48h window.
