Great Content Manager features

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use ManageEngine Mobile Device Manager Plus mainly for it's content manager. Very helpful to deploy exam files onto iPods, lock them down to single-app and remotely remove the files once the exams finish. User side it's quite simple and easy to follow.

Pros

  • Content manager
  • MDM
  • Inventory

Cons

  • Documents are sorted by some random order by default, users need to manually select "sort by A-Z", and even by doing so, coming out of documents and back in will reset the order to the random one. Would be amazing if A-Z was default, or if I could find out what this default order was to edit the files accordingly.
  • Playing audio files from the app is approached as if it was a video: if you come out of the app or lock the screen, the audio will stop. Would be great if it could act like music apps and keep playing with locked screen.

Most Important Features

  • Content Manager
  • Remote control and MDM
  • Tracking

Return on Investment

  • A lot less time wasted uploading and wiping devices one by one!

Feature packed, yet simple to use MDM solution

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We need a solution to centrally manage and support over 100 mobile devices after previously being all manually maintained which was a organisational nightmare. Our key priority's were to allow asset management, deployment of apps and settings, the ability to remotely configure and support, and to reduce the amount of manual intervention required.

Pros

  • Integration with our user system (Windows Active Directory/Azure).
  • An amazing feature which automatically syncs users from our central source so we don't have to do this manually, reducing errors and automating the staff onboarding experience. This also allows groups which we can use to target devices / profiles.
  • Remote control of devices.
  • Being able to remotely screen share and take control of devices allowed us to instantly respond and resolve issues with settings/apps on our users devices without having to bring the devices into the office allowing a quicker resolution of problem and minimising impact to business.
  • Simple Setup
  • The configuration of devices through profiles is incredibly easy to do, yet flexible with numerous options we can enable. The best feature ultimately is the simplicity. You just select the options you want without having to select 10 other required settings.
  • Responsive support.
  • On a few occasions we had some issues (down to user error) we were able to joing live chat with support and within a matter of minutes they were able to show us where we went wrong before anyone noticed the mistake.

Cons

  • Remote control (for android) requires user intervention at the device. They need to allow access from a notification. It would be useful for some of our kiosks to be able to do this unsupervised.
  • Showing a devices previous locations could be better shown together on a single map. At present it shows a single location which you can go to previous locations.

Most Important Features

  • Integration with Active Directory
  • Remote Control functionality
  • Location Tracking / Lost Mode

Return on Investment

  • Significant reduction in the time for configuring new devices when changing mobile contracts
  • Reduction in the time to resolve issues from hours to minutes
