Overview
Synthesised from 30 reviews | Last Published May 26, 2026
ManageEngine Endpoint Central is widely adopted by IT teams for comprehensive endpoint management, addressing operational and security challenges across diverse environments. In TrustRadius reviews, its primary utility lies in maintaining system health and security, with robust patch management for OS and third-party applications being a dominant strength, cited by 63% of reviewers. Organizations also extensively use it for remote support, streamlined software and OS deployment, configuration management, and detailed asset inventory.
While reviewers appreciate the significant time savings and improved operational efficiency, some note areas for enhancement. Specific concerns include difficulties with software deployment and patch failures, particularly for Mac OS and Linux applications, and a desire for more flexible reporting and clearer error messages. Overall, the platform is seen as a valuable tool for optimizing IT operations, though a few reviewers perceive the full suite as potentially expensive.
Pros
Robust patch management for operating systems and third-party applications
Efficient remote access and control for troubleshooting
Comprehensive hardware and software inventory management
Streamlined software and operating system deployment
Effective device management and configuration
Cons
Difficulties with software deployment and lack of clarity on patch failures
Limited patching capabilities for Mac OS and Linux applications
Inflexible reporting options and unclear error messages
User interface and overall usability could be more intuitive
Gaps in platform and OS support, including specific BIOS patching
Primarily we are introducing MEEC imaging, app deployment patch management and security policies to our Windows devices (around 4000), replacing SCCM and Intune. We are also testing a handful of Apple and Samsung devices to check the viability of moving all devices to ME and replacing Jamf and Intune as MDMs.
Pros
Patch management is far easier than SCCM, with a much better GUI and directed downloads. I like the fact I don't have to go checking every product website anymore.
Tools for handling different OS' in one platform are uniform, making it easier to have unified compliance across all types of device without having to learn several different MDMs
Our past asset management has been laborious. Now it is integrated into device management and our service desk there is far less duplication of admin and it's way more effective.
Cons
User based security policies (currently only by device) would help us as we have end users with far different restrictions using the same devices.

Patch management is the biggest issue we are tackling with MEEC. In our education environment we support a huge catalogue of software and struggled to keep track of versions and implement a reliable update plan. MEEC takes much of this stress away. It has also inspired us to follow much more stringent test and deploy schemes which were much more ad-hoc before. We now have more time to follow good security etiquet.

Well suited for keeping our 100s of PCs up to date with patches, deploying software to these devices with minimal fuss, and ensuring we patch vulnerabilities as quickly as possible. Wouldn't be suitable for us if we didn't have any Windows devices, although it can work with Mac, we'd likely have gone with another product.
We use ManageEngine for systems inventory and patch management across our organization. ManageEngine maintains a list of all PC's in our organization for Audit compliance. We also use ManageEngine to patch Microsoft and third-party software on all systems for security and audit compliance. We also use the remote desktop function for some support cases.
Pros
System inventory - ManageEngine scans every computer, listing a detailed report of all hardware and software.
Patch management - Microsoft products and most third party software receive security updates on a regular schedule without user intervention.
Cons
Inconsistent across modules - Some fields cannot be viewed from different modules.
Reporting could be improved to make it more user-friendly and flexible.

ManageEngine Desktop Central works with Active Directory but does not require it. The client module runs on Windows, Macs, and Linux. We have a very distributed environment with approximately 115 branch locations. Desktop Central makes it very easy to maintain our hardware inventory and ensure that all systems are patched. This greatly reduces maintenance labor. Reporting on out of warranty systems also helps with yearly purchase decisions.
