I work for a large SEO agency who leverages Lumar amonst other tools to help identify technical related issues and opportunities for clients websites.

We use Lumar in 2 ways primarily. One when conducting technical audits we run websites through their checker to prioritize callouts and then use their tool to download specific URLs to excel for further examination. Second, we setup domains to crawl monthly so we can be alerted to any changes that happen good or bad

If someone is looking for a SEO tool that excels in finding technical issues for a site, Lumar is a fantastic choice. Not only does it outline everything that's wrong, it does a much better job than other tools as to showing you how it the issue is presented. For instance many tools could outline a temporary redirect on your site, but Lumar will show you where that redirect starts, if there's a chain involved, and why it's worth fixing.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

As a digital marketer, I have had past experience with this tool in a wide range of different roles. Typically we have used this tool to support with analysing websites, and supporting with any SEO activity that we have proposed to a client. This has particularly been useful to understand where a website is ranking, and if there are any issues as to why it may not be ranking higher.

Pros

Really good to understand when and where any issues are on the website
Helps full breakdowns for each website, to understand where to improve
Helps work out where content etc needs to be optimised, which can then be passed to the content team

Cons

As a non SEOer it would be useful to have information tool tips to help understand what a particular element means (without having to ask another member of the team)

Likelihood to Recommend

It is useful for our clients to help identify where there are any issues and what improvements should be made. We are able to use all the counts of each elements to work out which to prioritise and create an action plan for our clients. If a team isn't able to implement any of the insights from within this tool, then it probably wouldn't be worth the money.

DeepCrawl is great for agencies looking to crawl sites. Likely not a great fit for beginner SEOs as there are a lot of data points given without clear priority.

Deepcrawl is not to be used for scanning new opportunities, keyword positions, site wide metrics for large sites. No SERP data shown.

I use DeepCrawl primarily to kick off SEO engagements. It's the foundation of my technical SEO audit, and I also use it on occasion to troubleshoot little issues or irregularities I see in current or potential clients, or even just for research. It's nice to get the feel for a site that is succeeding with a crawl.

Pros

The primary Dashboard is pretty excellent—not too much stuff to look at, just the main issues and a hierarchical breakdown of the site structure
I love the Broken Links tab—this is a super simple way to find what's broken so you can fix site circulation issues
The indexation tab is really nice too—no need to surf through thousands of URLs in a spreadsheet to assess the index

Cons

I find the loading panel during a crawl to be a bit deceptive. It's very hard to tell how long a crawl will take—a more accurate estimate would go a long way.
I love the "fetch time" tab in theory, but I have a hard time believing it—not that the figure they give is untrue, but I find it at wide variance with other tools. PageSpeedInsights will have a site looking disastrous and DeepCrawl will log it all fetching "quick". But perhaps page speed is just notoriously difficult to assess.

Likelihood to Recommend

DeepCrawl is organized very well for a full technical audit of a site. The menu on the left side is very easy to navigate, and you don't have to surf around too much to get an idea of what is plaguing a site. For a larger audit, DeepCrawl rules. Smaller audits can be tricky if you just want to know one quick thing because the crawl time can be unpredictable and difficult to project.

We use DeepCrawl as an integral data point for technical SEO analysis. It allows us to look at technical issues on the site as a whole or for individual pages. We also use it as a quick review for a potential client.

Ability to look for a thin content on pages
See if there are enough internal links on a page
Look at hreflang issues

Cons

From a layperson perspective, it is sometimes hard to navigate. Fortunately, we have tech wizards on our team that can set up very specific crawls.

Likelihood to Recommend

If you need a detailed analysis of a website, this tool is invaluable. If you are looking for a high-level overview, there are other tools better suited.

DeepCrawl makes my SEO audit easy. The visual output gives me an easy way forward, whether it be technical, or content based.

Pros

GUI, when you run a crawl, the response is epic. It isn't just results, the results are very easy to understand.
Again, as pertaining to the explanation above. If you use other crawl software, it can be difficult to get insights, whereas DeepCrawl makes it easy. You can get proper insights.
It is so easy to put your stamp on things. DeepCrawl gives you an option as a consultant that you might not have had before, it is your backup.

Cons

DeepCrawl really doesn't have too many problems, to be honest.
I would only say that there is a pay per use issue, it is quite expensive. But if I am honest, it is worth every penny.

Likelihood to Recommend

If you are an SEO executive, or an SEO consultant, I cannot offer an example where DeepCrawl cannot be used. It is easy to use, the results that DeepCrawl gives you, not only give you insight but can affect the way that your digital projects move forward.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

DeepCrawl is being used by our company as a holistic website auditing tool. It addresses our need to monitor issues that occur with our site as well as impacts towards our search engine optimization efforts. It also offers you analysis into sitemaps, backlinks, and downtimes of the websites that require IT input to fix. It has benefited our digital marketing department a great deal.

Pros

Helps optimize your website for SEO
Great intuitive layout and interface
Great timesaving sitemap and xml generator

Cons

Sitemap generating time often takes a few hours depending on how large your site is
I would like to have more suggestions to guide optimization efforts
Some of the initial setup for crawlers does take time

DeepCrawl is a great swiss army knife tool for any digital marketing professional. With that said it does help save you time for tasks that would take more time if performed on a daily basis. Having to just log in and review dashboards with suggestions of how to improve the website is great and a must-have for any company that is e-com or digitally dependent on their website to produce revenue.
