LogicMonitor has been used by our company to gain a deeper comprehension of our business operations. In our organization, LogicMonitor primarily monitors about 5000 systems. The majority of our data is client and financial information, which must be protected. We use LoicMonitor to encrypt our data and maintain the security of our systems, as without it, our business would fail. We have a dedicated IT team that works on LogicMonitor to keep our systems safe.

I have given it a perfect score, and I have a perfect explanation, or perhaps I should say a perfect example, for my decision. Approximately 10 days prior, one of our employees connected his USB drive to our systems. Once he did that, our system started hanging due to a virus on the pendrive, and our systems began acting differently. However, thanks to LogicMonitor, we received an alert indicating that one device was connected to our system. Our IT team and LogicMonitor resolved our issue and brought our systems back online in minutes.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use LogicMonitor to monitor both our own devices and client environments. It’s the main tool for our Enterprise NOC to manage issues and create tickets from alerts and we’ve also tied it into other systems using its API to build out custom workflows.

Pros

the alerting automatically creates and routes tickets in our ITSM system, which saves us a ton of manual work
logicMonitor's extensibility lets me pull data from anything with an API and turn it into something useful
i like that I can build my own monitoring with custom datasources—it’s been a game changer for client-specific needs

Cons

i’ve had to spend a lot of time tuning thresholds
it avoids agent-based monitoring completely

LogicMonitor is for enterprise teams looking for deep visibility and it’s helped me reduce response times, especially during on-call hours, also it has multiple tools in single a platform, it’s a solid choice, so I’d definitely recommend it.

Our team uses LogicMonitor to monitor all of our team systems. Their location does not matter to us, as those employees are on-site, hybrid, or remote. Our work is growing daily, so we can monitor the systems, and if we encounter any issues, we can immediately fix them and return to work at full capacity.

We use LogicMonitor to keep our systems free of bugs. If any issue arises, like once our team was working on the systems and one of the employees created a virus for fun, our team was terrified by it, as if we were under attack. Still, LogicMonitor was there to help us stop that virus, and we were back on our feet in less than an hour. We also faced an issue where our team could not use all the customizations. We felt stuck, but LogicMonitor helped us out of it in a few minutes.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use LogicMonitor to gain a comprehensive view of our application infrastructure and to monitor both client and internal environments. It is especially helpful in identifying issues that other vendor platforms couldn’t detect or completely miss. We’ve also used it across cloud and on-prem setups, and all of these can be managed from one place, too.

Pros

very easy to deploy built-in monitors across different devices and get it up running.
The dashboard has enabled our management team to view network activity from a single location.
The ability to write my data sources is impressive, as it allows me to monitor what matters to my business, not just the default information.

Cons

I think the billing model could use a refresh, as I'd like to only pay for what we use, especially as an MSP.
Bringing in devices that aren’t already in their system can be a bit tricky and sometimes takes some extra effort.
When a site goes down, we receive a flood of alerts—one per device, which becomes overwhelming and noisy quickly.

Likelihood to Recommend

If you have a mixed environment, such as cloud, hardware, or virtualization, LogicMonitor is worth considering, as it significantly reduces troubleshooting time. Being able to see everything in one place makes life easier. I’d say make sure your team knows what they want out of it first, and then buy it.

LogicMonitor discovers, identifies and monitors all infrastructure on prem and cloud/SaaS meaning my team don't have to spend time configuring monitoring manually - this is a huge time saver. It also means I don't have to employ anyone or have specialist knowledge of monitoring tools since the platform is so automated.

Autodiscovery
Escalation based alerting including phone calls
Network mapping
OOB dashboards are excellent
AWS, Azure and GCP integration
Office 365 utilisation monitoring, saves £££ on MS licenses

Cons

Still no ability to push configs
Port-level network discovery and mapping could reduce troubleshooting time
Alerting based on log anomalies could see LogicMonitor displace SIEM competely

Likelihood to Recommend

Any environment with cloud or on-prem IT infrastructure. Probably best suited to those of us with a combination. If you have an IT team and want to give some work/life balance back whilst still enabling the team to know what's going on 24/7. If you believe investing in a tool is better than burning through man hours on manual monitoring tasks. If you value visual, at a glance ways of understanding the state of your environment. If OOB coverage *and* extensibility are important to you.

The community boards are great, and Logic Monitor does listen to its clients. It often implements the changes that the customers recommend. Before implementing LogicMonitor, we could only view some of the computers and network devices. Beyond the tools, the customer service is also excellent. They have all been great, from sales to account management to the engineers we work with. LogicMonitor is an easy-to-use operational tracking platform. You can categorize the alerts according to different categories so that the difference between important and less important ones can easily be seen.

Offers comprehensive support from sales, account management and engineers.

Cons

Switching between UIs is confusing.
Paper retrieval is a pain, suggesting calling the help desk for assistance.
Sorting alerts during business and non-business hours is challenging.

We are an MSP for Small to Medium sized businesses. We needed a monitoring tool capable of segmentation to allow our clients access to their data while also being able to monitor devices unique to each one. LogicMonitor worked straight out of the box to deploy and begin monitoring each of our clients environments. The hundreds of supplied data sources covered nearly all of our use cases and required little to no customization. The robust API provided us the ability to link other tools to LogicMonitor for enhanced integrations as well.

Cons

Segmentation at an instance level not just the resource when clients are sharing the same device but shouldn't see each other's relevant data
ARM CPU support for collectors to allow for a lighter weight appliance deployment
WMI collection with a Linux collector so a windows collector would not be needed or a virtual appliance template that can be used to deploy collectors

Likelihood to Recommend

Well Suited to:

- MSPs with multiple clients

- Network segmentation where a single device can't communicate to everything and collection devices are needed in each environment

Not well suited for:

- Management functions that would need to change settings on a device

- Self contained environments with no outside network access

Its user friendly interface provides automation for the monitoring of servers and other functions, requires no special knowledge for setting up devices, creates exhaustive reports to identify failures, finds solutions, and offers technical support for all query.This improved the cost and teamwork solution. The program easily installs, runs with no problems, has technical support to overcome any issues that may arise, can readily set alerts, works smoothly even after system updates and has an entertaining and easy-to-use interface.
