Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We moved from a 3rd party solution 365 backup solution provided by an MSP, but had no insight, no reporting etc and wanted to 'bring it back under company control' vs the MSP. We saw the option for Spanning at a conference and within a couple of weeks afterwards, we migrated from the 3rd party over to Spanning and never looked back. Integrated with a couple of clicks basically and just needed to set up an AD group and assign the users and we were all set!

Spanning Backup for G Suite for Peace of Mind

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Spanning Backup for G Suite is being used across the district to backup our business office and teachers Google Drives so that if something were to happen and someone accidentally deleted a Google Doc and now with the 30-day auto trash deletion we would still be able to recover those files using Spanning Backup for G Suite.

Pros

  • Easy interface to navigate
  • Quick restoration of files
  • Easy administration/ adding new accounts.

Cons

  • Better support/phone support
  • The ability to checkmark JUST a single OU and then any new members in just THAT OU would be automatically backed up. Currently, you can just auto add new members but not per OU.

Return on Investment

  • It's hard to measure this but the first time an item needed to be restored I thought to myself...this was worth it already. Some files in Google are a combination of years of work and losing those files would be painful.

Spanning Backup is the best backup software I have used

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Spanning is used across our entire organization of approximately 80 active users. Every active user mailbox, as well as Google Drive storage contents, are backed up with Spanning. All files types including Google Docs, Sheets, Slides and Forms as well as Microsoft and Adobe file types are backed up perpetually and available for restoration.

Pros

  • Perpetual email and file backups.
  • No limits on backup volume, capacity or file types.
  • Excellent Management Console for Administrative users.
  • End-user access available for self-management.
  • Easy to enable and disable various accounts for backup.
  • Easy to restore emails and files from one account to another.

Cons

  • Administrative users can backup multiple accounts at one time, but can only restore one account at a time.
  • Management console navigation opens additional tabs, but I believe they are working to improve that.
  • It would be nice to be able to delete emails and files from user accounts from within Spanning instead of having to login to Google as the user.
  • Google Forms meta-data is not able to be restored to other accounts.

  • Nonprofit friendly pricing.

Spanning is an Excellent Salesforce Backup Solution

Pros

  • Easy to install and use.
  • Integrates well with Salesforce and can be accessed from within Salesforce.
  • Specific changes to records or metadata can easily be identified and restored.

Cons

  • Thus far, Spanning has completely fulfilled all of our backup needs, and we are completely satisfied.
  • While we haven't needed technical support yet, we were told that this is conducted via email rather than via phone.

  • We've not measured ROI, but the cost of Spanning is exceptionally reasonable.

Reliable cost effective backup solution for Office 365 tenants

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Spanning backup as a solution to do off-site backups of all my Office 365 user mailboxes. The admin portal makes it easy to do backups or restores. It only took less than five minutes to schedule the backup sync of my Office 365 tenant.

Cons

  • It would be nice to have the ability to restore multiple emails using a date range
  • Add an option to backup Microsoft Teams
  • Add an option to backup 3rd party cloud apps already connected to my Office 365 tenant.
