Use Cases and Deployment Scope

It's the core of the business, it allows us to store media, sell media and stream it live. We have drop folders where a client drops files onto it, it then gets picked up by one of eight batch processes. We have the software, installed across 8 instances, which are used for the batch processes. This will then extract the media and push it through theNewrow, from Kaltura transcoding which will give us different flavours of video output files.

It gives us a secure Netflix on-demand type media repository. In addition to uploading existing content, there are tools that help us to capture content from computers and cameras. There is a lot of customization that is possible.

Pros

  • consistent video environment.
  • share videos across platforms and also have a Netfilx style of content.
  • Asynchronus recording feature over MS stream.

Cons

  • More videos for the management console.
  • Steep learning curve for media space and LMS framework.
  • Needs to make it a bit more optimized for all mobile device platforms like Ipads and galaxy tabs.

  • Allows hybrid classes, classes where we have virtual and in-class learners for our folks that can't come to the main office.
  • Helps our focus mainly on delivering virtual classroom solution.
