Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are using it for website hosting. Unfortunately, in my opinion, it is extremely sub par. We wanted to upgrade to their VPS services as this seemed like a great choice and USUALLY staying with your hosting company makes everything easier.

BOY WAS I WRONG. Its been nothing but a mess. Sales said migration was included. Haha, joke on me, included int he fact that I can migrate the site myself, they won't help at all. Then their platform i is extremely broken. In my experience, it is buggy, and doesn't work as it should, and their support articles that their chat people love to send you are incomplete.

In my experience, the support team gets snarky with you fast, loves to push you to billing (so yes, they seem cheaper then much better options like CloudWays but in the end they are actually way more expensive because of the time it takes to deal with their support, bad UI/UX and bugs).

In my opinion, avoid it at all cost. If I knew it was going to be this big of a hassle, I would have switched to CloudWays. Extremely disappointed how far down they have come in service in the last 10 years. I say, don't use them.

Don't believe these positive reviews they are paying people to get. I suggest you pay a bit more and get good service with CloudWays.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use inMotion Hosting to host all of my Virtual Private Server websites. If I have a client with a server intensive application, inMotion Hosting is the host I use to implement the project. The VPS hosting allows me to carve resources out in a customized way to allot memory and CPU resources to each client as needed.

Pros

Reliability - never had downtime to this point.
Fast response - chat support is usually within 10 minutes.

Cons

inMotion Hosting shared hosting is limited in I/O but this isn't advertised.
First line of tech support could be a little more technically trained.

Likelihood to Recommend

For VPS hosting, they're the only host I use or would recommend. They have a budget friendly approach and the resources advertised are accurate. I was disappointed (and unfortunately surprised) to see the I/O limitations of 1MB/s imposed on their shared reseller hosting. It's not advertised but really does cripple shared reseller hosting as nearly any activity on the site immediately starts affecting performance.

I use InMotion Hosting to build websites and other online services for my business clients. All our clients' websites are on my VIP account. Having an affordable hosting package is wonderful for my small rural business because my clients are hands-off when it comes to the website. Pros

Customer Support is one reason I use InMotion Hosting.
When I call InMotion I get someone I can talk to, and not a support person reading off a screen.

Cons

They could use better tutorials.
I'd like for there to be a better community forum.

When I have an issue, I can go on their support chat and fix an issue rather than have them send me the instructions. We used InMotion in order to host our website and database resources. As a hosting solution, we found it affordable and much better than our previous hosting solution. It helped us scale our business while being able to reasonably meet the needs of our customers which was a big win initially, however the honeymoon period didn't last very long and we eventually faced a lot of hardships with our decision to use InMotion.

Pros

Affordable.
Great support team.

Cons

Reliable hardware.
Availability of advanced technical support.

Likelihood to Recommend

Inmotion is a great resource if you have a relatively small user base and are just starting out. The support team is incredibly helpful and responsive as well. The prices are reasonable and quite affordable.

However if you have a larger set of users spread out globally, it may not be the right choice for you. The more our users grew, the more friction we began facing with our hosting service in terms of latency and uptime, even though we upgraded our plan with each milestone. In other words, sooner or later you may outgrow InMotion so keep that in mind before choosing it as your solution of choice.

For years, I was a Hostgator re-seller customer. But after they were bought out, my experience with their company, particularly the customer service quickly deteriorated. Too many issues, and I finally had a strong reason to leave them, migrate all my clients, and launch with a new provider. As you can imagine, this was no small task and I did a great deal of research on not only the best hosting company but the best re-seller friendly hosting business. Inmotion Hosting quickly gravitated to the top, addressed my questions, and provided an affordable re-seller hosting program. Once I switched, they helped me migrate my old sites, and get me going on the new system. It was a great deal of work, but they were helpful in making it as painless as possible. Since 2016, I've had a great and solid experience while also referring other people to them, and becoming an affiliate of their products.

Pros

Their customer services are great. In most cases, it's readily available.

They provide a Cpanel based SSL option at no additional cost. This saves me and several clients a great deal of money.
Their support article repository is terrific. They have content on any question I could ever ask.
The company is employee-owned, so I don't have to worry about a future sale and loss of support like my last hosting company.

Cons

There was an isolated server issues incident that caused extended down-times and required a few site restorations. But, they were helpful in working through this and getting things back online.
At times, there can be a wait (more than 15 minutes) for the chat support, but this is not normal.
The aesthetics of their website feels somewhat outdated.

Likelihood to Recommend

For freelancers and small marketing companies, Inmotion Hosting is a terrific re-seller option. They provide hosting at a killer rate, and this allows me to earn a good extra income for clients where I host their websites. With the support, I'm able to resolve issues beyond my capability.

For individual users, Inmotion Hosting is also a terrific option, and they also provide WordPress specific hosting for better performance.

I use inMotion for web hosting and email service. At peak consumption, I ran over 20 different websites with as many email accounts. My company is a residential real estate brokerage, so all of our websites are used for marketing purposes.

Managing or deleting subscriptions could be made easier to use.

Likelihood to Recommend

It's easy to create and manage Wordpress websites. Purchasing and managing domains are easy as well. Rarely have I seen service outages which resulted in significant downtime.
