What, if anything, do IBM Storage FlashSystem’s capabilities allow you to do now that you couldn’t before?

From 8 reviews | Last Published April 23, 2026

This report synthesizes 8 recent reviews to assess the capabilities that IBM Storage FlashSystem provides to users. A significant portion of reviewers, 3 out of 8, highlight improvements in scalability and performance. These reviewers appreciate the system's ability to handle company growth and provide better performance to end-users. Enhanced security features were also noted by 2 reviewers, specifically the integration with Single Sign-On (SSO) and the efficiency of inbuilt replication and snapshot features. The ability to migrate workloads between different FlashSystems without host impact was also mentioned as a performance benefit.

Improved Scalability and Performance

This will give us greater scalability and is a key factor we look for as our company is growing at a high rate.

Enhanced Security Features

Integration with SSO, has been a lifesaver. This has allowed us to use the MFA to add that extra layer of security to access the storage array which is not present on majority of other block platform and we have been struggling to improve security on those platforms.

What capabilities of IBM Storage FlashSystem do you find most valuable?

From 8 reviews | Last Published April 23, 2026

This report synthesizes 8 recent product reviews to identify the most valued capabilities of the IBM Storage FlashSystem. Reviewers most frequently highlighted the system's performance and speed, with 3 of 8 reviewers mentioning this aspect. These reviewers specifically praised the FlashCore Modules, noting sub-millisecond latency and hardware compression capabilities. A related benefit mentioned by one reviewer is the ability to compress data without performance penalties on the controller. The replication and snapshot features were also valued, with 2 of 8 reviewers citing these capabilities. These features reportedly facilitate easier server migrations and upgrades, and have significantly reduced database refresh windows.

Performance and Speed

But the most impressive and what is our most valuable asset of IBM Storage FlashSystem is the speeds.

Replication and Snapshots

The inbuilt replication and snapshot features is most valuable for us as it allows us to migrate upgrade servers easily and it has reduced our databased refresh window from days to within an hour which is crucial as it allows for smaller downtime windows.

What positive or negative impact (i.e. Return on Investment or ROI) has IBM Storage FlashSystem had on your overall business objectives?

From 8 reviews | Last Published April 23, 2026

This report analyzes 8 recent reviews of IBM Storage FlashSystem to understand its perceived impact on business objectives. A significant portion of reviewers, 5 of 8, highlight time and cost savings as a key benefit. These savings are attributed to data reduction capabilities, with specific mentions of "2:1 Data Reduction" and "6:1 Total Savings." One reviewer noted a dramatic reduction in SAP refresh times, from 48 hours to minutes. Additionally, 3 of 8 reviewers cite improved performance, particularly reduced latency, as a positive impact. One reviewer noted latency between storage and VDIs decreasing from milliseconds to microseconds, leading to a better end-user VDI experience. The system's contribution to easier migrations was also mentioned as a time-saving factor.

Time and Cost Savings

2:1 Data Reduction

Improved Performance

The shear speed of our IBM Storage FlashSystem has taken our latency between storage and VDIs from milliseconds to microseconds.

Please provide some detailed examples of areas where IBM Storage FlashSystem has room for improvement.

From 8 reviews | Last Published April 23, 2026

This report analyzes eight recent product reviews to identify areas for potential improvement in the IBM Storage FlashSystem. A recurring concern, raised by 3 of 8 reviewers, involves limitations in volume expansion. Specifically, reviewers expressed frustration with the inability to extend volumes on the fly, especially those within mirror pairs or Policy-Based Replication (PBO). Complementing this, 3 of 8 reviewers cited the cumbersome nature of the firmware update process, particularly the reliance on IBM's Fix Central for downloading drive microcode and firmware. Reviewers would prefer a more streamlined update process, potentially integrated within IBM Insights or directly accessible from the unit itself. These issues highlight opportunities to enhance the user experience by simplifying storage management tasks and update procedures.

Volume expansion limitations

Expanding storage in a volume, you have to remove a volume from a group before you can expand. There may be a reason for this, but would love the option for it to do that task for you.

Firmware update process

Firmware updates, Fix Central is great but is unnecessarily cumbersome, I would prefer the ability to easily update the firmware via IBM insights or for the unit itself.
