It’s mixed. We’re using IBM Maximo Application Suite to manage our IT services. It used to be part of Maximo IT under Control Desk, but since we’re also implementing it now, we use it to bring together all our assets, provide inspection forms, and organize work orders and fieldwork teams. We’re also using the Health module, which is used to calculate the asset health index.
Pros
These features are under one application, which is really good, and it’s a big difference from other similar products in the market. It also has these industry extensions where you actually have some pre-knowledge about your industry, so it’s much easier to organize inspection forms for specific types of assets.
Cons
Usually, we have problems with the mobile apps. For about seven out of ten customers, we need to use third-party mobile applications. It’s been a rollercoaster — Anywhere was terrible, then Maximo Mobile for 8 was pretty good, and now with Maximo 9, it’s problematic again. So it’s been ups and downs. But the good thing is that the architecture is open, so we can use third-party applications or even develop our own add-ons. Still, IBM could do this better.

It’s really good for organizing all your assets and managing your field technician teams. The new features, like the assistant and remote assistant, are also really good. On the other side, for the second part of the question, what’s less appropriate, for example, for network scanning, there used to be a part of the product that handled natural discovery. Now IBM has discontinued that, so we have to use two different products now to scan the IT environment, which is not so efficient, I would say.

I work for an IBM Business Partner supporting IBM Maximo Application Suite's MREF (TRIRIGA) for numerous customers. Currently have completed application upgrades to latest version and supporting new usages of Capital Projects out of the box.
Pros
Facilities Management - Operations and Maintenance - Work Orders
Includes business development tools to configure the application
Cons
Application upgrades could use additional tools to support
Reporting configuration requires specific and not easy training to manage and create reports
Likelihood to Recommend
Asset management, facilities management, work request and work order end to end life cycle. Implementing these core modules / components of IBM Maximo Application Suite's MREF allows organizations proper tracking of physical assets and inventory, as well s how they're used to support end user request for service and supervisors / technicians picking up those requests and assigning he work to be completed. This can include customer surveys to receive feedback as well.

We implement IBM Maximo Application Suite for our customers, via both hosted and on-premises solutions, and have a wide scope as an IBM Platinum business partner. I work as the manager of the cloud hosting team, hosting IBM Maximo Application Suite on AWS, and work specifically with the technical aspects of IBM Maximo Application Suite, including deployment, monitoring, security, automation and analytics. My business problems revolve primarily around the DevOps side of IBM Maximo Application Suite, whereby knowledge in debugging Ansible and YAML deployment files becomes key.
Pros
Very simple to deploy on OpenShift (using Ansible playbooks)
Excellent support for integrations. Simple to configure LDAPS, SAML, SMTP, Kafka, etc.
Cons
Would be useful to have MFA built into the application stack; currently only supported via 3rd party SAML integration
Support for modern database platforms for Maximo Manage - i.e. Oracle 21 or 23
Likelihood to Recommend
IBM Maximo Application Suite is well suited for medium to large scale organisations requiring and enterprise grade asset management solution. It is less suited to smaller organisations, due to it's reasonably heavy infrastructure footprint (compared to Maximo 7.6.x) and complexity to administer without key skills in Red Hat Openshift, containerisation, etc.
We are company specializing in IBM Maximo Application Suite implementations. We deploy and configure it for our customers across different industries, including oil and gas, utilities and also for ITSM use cases.
Pros
Workforce Management
Visual Inspections (and computer vision in general)
ITSM (Maximo IT)
Cons
Documentation needs to get better
I think the new AI features are overcomplicated
Likelihood to Recommend
IBM Maximo Application Suite performs well especially for highly regulated industries, where compliance is a must. It has multitude of options and is highly configurable. On the other hand, it is quite complex to get started with that product.

Companies trying to maximize operational efficiency will find it appropriate given its strong analytics and iot connections. And companies with a range of assets should definitely investigate IBM Maximo since it manages the complete asset life cycle from acquisition to retirement with such excellence.
IBM Maximo Application Suite managed all of my company's assets. Its predictive analytics and AI based labor scheduling have made reporting and efficiency easier. Modern cloud architecture means performance stability, with possibilities to improve analytics, networking, user interface/user experience and load speeds. After extensive usage, IBM Maximo Application Suite outperforms all EAM responsibilities in inspection, task management, planning and scheduling. We can also enhance and predict equipment problems through conditioned maintenance planning, analysis and execution by inspection.
Pros
Modern cloud architecture with reliable performance.
It is beneficial for manufacturing needs, providing a safe environment and efficient gear management.
Cons
The software being hosted in the cloud sometimes results in server problems.
It may be challenging to customize and set up according to the unique requirements of your organization.
Slower load time and no auto save feature.
Likelihood to Recommend
Currently IBM Maximo Application Suite outperforms all the other EAM solutions in inspection, task management and scheduling. And it also has a very competitive pricing when compared to other EAM solutions. Hence it is very much recommended by me and you should definitely try it out first before going for the other EAM solutions.
