IBM Cloud Monitoring with Sysdig
Use Cases and Deployment Scope
We use IBM Cloud Monitoring with Sysdig to report on stats primarily for our load balancers. We collect and analyze data for throughput, connection rate, and active connections.
Pros
- Versatility. It can track more than just the load balancer data we collect.
- Custom dashboards can be created for our particular use cases
Cons
- It's versatility is also a weakness because it requires piecing together data sources. Would be nice if there a gallery of pre-built dashboards to choose from.
- Data sources aren't clearly labeled. Took some time to identify and isolate our load balancer data sources when creating dashboards.
Most Important Features
- Dashboards, for general monitoring
- Alerts, for responding to issues that may effect performance
Return on Investment
- Allows us to monitor our resources at IBM instead of having to rely entirely on third party monitoring tools
