Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use to backup our data in local ftp server were to access these files during pandemic made more difficult. Even the clients are not able to access the views that what we are viewing. Sharing the files among teams made much difficult.

Even the mobile app team used this service as their primary storage area.

Even sales and marking teams are using the same to make their life and work easier.

We use Huawei Cloud Backup and Recovery (CBR) for different use cases. Our primary use case is sharing of our day to day analytical and technical report across different department in the organization. We can save the file on cloud and populate them across groups or members and we can also track the changes done in real time like who made the changes, what things have been added or removed. We keep all our important data on cloud as it is easy to access and we can do that from any type of device like phone, tablets, laptops etc. The recovery part is best as one time we faced an issue that accidentally one of our employee deleted the useful reports but thanks to Huawei Cloud Backup and Recovery (CBR) part, we were able to restore those files. The product is embedded with great features and functionalities and hence make it an ideal choice for any organization for the purpose of cloud storage backup and recovery.

Pros

  • Sharing of analytical data across different groups and people is made easy through Huawei Cloud Backup and Recovery (CBR). It give us power to save and synchronize our files and share them with others. We can even set permission that who can access that data and what changes can be done by the people.
  • If we have deleted any files which is stored on cloud then we can even recover that which is a best feature as it helps to recover our data.
  • The solution is very stable and we never faced any downtime and it is available 24x7, so it become easy to access our files from anywhere and at anytime.
  • We can store any type of files, be it pdf, word document , pictures or other things which is a good use case.

Cons

  • Support from Huawei Cloud Backup and Recovery (CBR) team is not good. They take so much time in addressing the query and to solve the problem which we have encountered due to some technical error or glitches.
  • The synchronization process is very slow and we need a good internet connection as files get paused and we need to start the action manually which become difficult task sometime.
  • The price for storage is very expensive when we need some extra storage as compared to other cloud service providers.

Return on Investment

  • Migrating to cloud for the purpose of storing data has cost us more, hence currently we are not able to calculate its ROI. We will observe it on later stage.
  • One positive impact is that now our files are auto synchronized so we do need to worry about deletion of files or data as we can recover it instantly hence we will not encounter loss due to accidental deletion of file.
  • Sharing of data has become a feasible option through Huawei Cloud Backup and Recovery (CBR) as we can easily share links and content to different people.
