Our Best Data Entry Buddy is GridBuddy

Rating: 9 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Gridbuddy to capture clients' attendance. It is used by one of our departments who use the tool to input multiple attendances in Salesforce. It makes data entry efficient and less time-consuming.

Pros

 • Easy to install and maintain
 • Good customer support in case we encounter any issues
 • Solves the issue of mundane data entry
 • Efficient and time saving

Cons

 • Does not support some web browsers
 • If Grid is not displayed, hard to troubleshoot
 • There could be room for improvement in using GridBuddy filters

Likelihood to Recommend

GridBuddy is very well suited for multiple data entry where users need to enter multiple data at the same time. It is less appropriate in situations where we have less # of data and sensitive data need to be entered.

Make the complaining employees happy

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

GB is currently being used in one department that is a breakoff position of our sales team. It is used for verification of sales. We use it for verifying Opportunities but we also pull in contacts, accounts and activity into our grids.

Pros

 • User friendly.
 • Pull multiple objects into one grid.
 • Layouts are seamless to work through.

Cons

 • Pulling unrelated objects has been a slight issue.
 • Related to fields are not as easy to lookup as Salesforce.

Likelihood to Recommend

Working on data only, it is perfect and compact. It gets rid of unnecessary clutter. If you use click to dial, it is not yet supported so unfortunately not suitable for a call center.

A spreadsheet-like feel in Salesforce

Rating: 9 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

It is predominantly used by our operations team. It gives a spreadsheet-like feel to Salesforce where it is fairly quick and easy to enter multiple rows of data quickly. We have another team in logistics that essentially uses it as a filtered, editable report which is easier than opening each record in a new tab.

Pros

 • Quick data entry.
 • Filtered, editable report-like structure.
 • Spreadsheet-like feel.

Cons

 • There is a limit of about 40 fields that can be added to a grid.

Likelihood to Recommend

A process where you would like to be able to edit a report in-line or a process where you need to enter or manage data similar to how you work in a spreadsheet have been the ideal use cases for our teams. You can also embed these as tabs to make it easy to navigate to.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

It's currently being used by the Development (fundraising) team. We use it primarily to create & edit opportunities, contacts, organizations. There has been some use cases for cleaning up our data with Grid Buddy.

Pros

 • Mass Create
 • Mass Edit
 • User-Friendly

Cons

 • The link between Opportunity and Payment object does not work
 • I wish there were a "view all" for the results
 • I wish it didn't kick me out of Gridbuddy (not Salesforce itself) after an hour or so of use

Likelihood to Recommend

Grid Buddy is GREAT for mass creating records, especially when many of the fields are going to be the same across.

GridBuddy is the reason we keep Salesforce around.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

GridBuddy is used by the outbound salespeople in the company, The reshaping of the traditional Salesforce user interface, into the grid system that GridBuddy offers, means that a wholesaler like us who has enormous numbers of customers, can use salesforce in a meaningful way.

Pros

 • Reshapes the user Interface into an intuitive, clean, easy and thoughtful way, meaning Salesforce can be practically used for applications that (in my Opinion) salesforce was never designed for.
 • Mass updates are a God send, Leaving quick and meaningful notes, setting up meetings with clients or upcoming calls to maintain contact, all from the same screen without information overload... a real achievement.

Cons

 • GridBuddy seems to be a real solid solution for us. And although it's likely not suited to everyone, those who do a high volume of customer interaction will likely prefer the GridBuddy front end over the traditional page by page based Salesforce front end.

Likelihood to Recommend

High Volume call centers, with huge amounts of small detailed notes, that are accessed by single salespeople or in sales groups, will all benefit from Gridbuddy.

I may not use it for its intended purpose, but it still works for me

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I manage TaskRay Projects for 30+ Salesforce Users. Each of those 30+ Projects has 130+ tasks, which are mostly the same across the tasks. Sometimes I need to edit the task across all 30+ projects, which is where GridBuddy comes in. It makes it easy for me to pull up all the projects and tasks I need to edit, and quickly apply mass changes. The ability to highlight certain lines in GridBuddy is also very helpful when I'm looking for tasks.

Pros

 • Mass updates.
 • Grid/table format.
 • Save grid views.

Cons

 • A bit complex to set up grids.
 • Limit to how many grids you can save.
 • Limits on long text fields.

Likelihood to Recommend

GridBuddy is well suited for someone who manages a lot of items on Salesforce and doesn't want to click on each one to make a change. For the everyday user, it may not be necessary since it isn't intuitive.

GridBuddy - Easy to use, great time saver

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

GridBuddy is used by myself (Director Sales Operations) and our VP Marketing.

We use GridBuddy to clean up data, make mass changes, [and] update loads of information in SFDC all at one time.

A simple example is when we have [a] change or move of a Sales Rep, or a new Sales Rep. In a matter of minutes, I can move the ownership of all needed Opportunities, Leads, Contacts and Accounts to the new person. What I particularly like about GridBuddy is the both the real-time nature of it and the visual nature of it. As opposed to using Dataloader for such data manipulations, which is not visual (I can't see the changes as they happen) and done in batches rather than real-time in front of my eyes.

Pros

 • It's visual, with all of the data you need to change is right there in front of your eyes.
 • It's real-time, you can see the change right when you make the change.
 • Ease of use. Once you have your grid setup, it's a piece of cake.
 • I like that you can make related objects to the primary object in the Grid, in order to make some rather deep changes to data that would be done one-at-a-time in the normal SFDC interface.

Cons

 • I would like to see the limits increased on the number of records that can be edited in some of the objects. Many have a limit of 50 at one time (per page) and if I have to change 1000 records then I have to do the same thing 20 times in a row.
 • Sometimes I find it a bit difficult to get the fields from a related object (related to the primary object) into the grid. Sometimes the "connection" to the primary grid is a bit confusing.
 • That's really it. Everything else I like GridBuddy.

Likelihood to Recommend

1. Making broad changes to data, like moving ownership of records from one user to another for a new Sales Rep or a moved Sales Rep.

2. Making broad changes to data for product changes, product introductions and such (product naming changes, product description changes, etc.).

I recently had to make a change to the name of a Product Option. Product Options are a sub-object related to Product. This name change was in 22 places. Okay, 18 [is] not a lot, but to make this change individually 22 times is still very tedious and takes too much of my time. Instead, I set up my Grid with the Object and sub-Object and made all 22 changes at once with a mass change. Piece of cake. And I don't have to go back to several of the records to see if the change was made successfully (something you have to do with Dataloader). I could see the effective change all at once on my Grid screen.

Pros

 • Easy setup
 • User experience

Displaying grouped information together works well but sometimes folks don't understand what they are editing (e.g. a related object and record).

GridBuddy has helped optimize our Sales teams and other partners like no other!

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

When we first started with Grid Buddy, it was solely to replace our mass edit tool within SalesForce. 2 years later, we have multiple workspaces, embedded grids throughout our page layouts, and a large majority of the company is using it in some form. The problem that it addresses in our company is to be able to not only look at data but see layers of data in one place and allows the teams to action off of the data. Making things streamlined and efficient to get in and do what they need to.

Pros

 • Layered Reporting: The ability to bring in data from 3 objects, unlike Salesforce reports.
 • Mass Edit: In comparison to inline editing, it allows the ability to create multiple views, personalized layouts, and again seeing, more than one object at a time.
 • Workspaces: Ability to create a space with all the important grids a user needs.

Cons

 • Within the workspaces /tabbed pages, I wish the pages would auto fit depending on the size of the screen vs having to choose a particular size. What happens is you end up with the DBL scroll and it can be annoying on a smaller screen.

Likelihood to Recommend

Well Suited: Any place where you want to be able to action off of what you see. Less Appropriate: When you just need to look at one object of data in a report or from a manager view when you are trying to just look at overall data with no action required.

GridBuddy: Excel for Salesforce and more

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are using GridBuddy to view a lot of Salesforce data in a quick, easy-to-use and editable view. It essentially translates Salesforce data into an in-client Excel spreadsheet, allowing us to edit and review data quickly without creating cumbersome and uneditable Salesforce reports. Displaying these grids directly on a page layout for an object has also streamlined this process, as we can review many donations and opportunities easily without leaving the screen.

Pros

 • Mass editing of Salesforce data.
 • Displaying related list data on a page layout.
 • Easy review of data in-line with other information.

Cons

 • User interface looks a bit outdated.
 • Too many related objects in the list causes the layout to look offset.
 • Grids take a while to set up and load.

Likelihood to Recommend

GridBuddy is great to review a lot of data in a quick and easy screen and embed that information on page layouts. For example, we use it to review opportunities, tasks, and other pieces of information that there are tons of to allow for mass editing/adding of information. It is also helpful to display that information on the contact record, allowing for us to mass-edit in-line related list data, which is not possible in regular Salesforce.
