Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I have been using GoToMyPC since its inception in 1998. It allows me to work remotely without losing functionality from my onsite software and databases. During COVID, it allowed my bookkeeper to do her job, even while she was quarantined, which kept the invoices going out, and the customer payments coming in! GoToMyPC has been very useful. I don't know what I would do without it!

Pros

Allows for both remote printing and printing at the host location
Gives employees the ability to log in when buried under 4 feet of snow
Keeps the avenue of communication when cellular towers are down

Cons

My employees have found the installation instructions difficult to understand
Occasionally, the remote printing is glitchy, especially when the internet connections are weak

Likelihood to Recommend

Although it takes a bit of computer know-how, the product works well after being correctly installed. Anyone who needs access to another computer for information will benefit from the ease of use.

I researched and signed up for GoToMyPc years and years ago. I needed a secure way to work from home, yet directly into our system at my office. GoToMyPc accomplished just that. I have never had a problem, ever. It always works from anywhere with an Internet connection. When they came out with their app for my phone, I was in heaven. Absolute heaven. I could check in on things from anywhere. On top of a mountain skiing, at the beach, on a golf course, on our boat, anywhere.
When Covid hit, I signed up several more users. Many of our staff that could used it from home as well. Right into their workstation at the office. The ultimate problem solver. We absolutely love it!

Cons

Had trouble with it Landscaping on my new iPhone 14. Now it works fantastic!!!!

Best suited? It works fantastic no matter where you are. It's best suited anywhere. I can't think of anywhere it would be considered less appropriate. Obviously on your phone at any sort of event where you should not be on your phone in the first place. That would be wrong. But has nothing to do with the software. Proper etiquette always, obviously.

Excellent connectivity and very easy to use, always reliable and trustworthy. Not had any issues over the years we have used GoToMyPC, you get what you pay for, a quality product. There are competitors offering similar services for less money but we trust and don't wish to risk the possible compromise of going elsewhere other than the market leader.

Use it to access home computer from work. Our IT department said it was a security risk for us to do what we needed to do to support our customers. So one way to get around it was to use my home laptop to run the features I need to support our customers.

Pros

Easy to connect. Desktop shortcut connects me right away.
Connections are very fast. No lag hardly at all. Once in a while, it will hang for a couple of seconds but then come right back.
Easy to download and set up.
Has provided a solution so I can better serve our customers' requirements.

Cons

I do not have a printer on my host PC but I do on my client's PC. I have not been able to figure out how to connect through my client from my host to use the printer.
One way to get around the above issue is to print to a .pdf printer then transfer the file to my client and print it. A bit more time-consuming but works.
I really have not come across anything that I feel needs tweaking or changing other than what I already stated above. Great product.

So far I have had no complaints about using this product. It works pretty much seamlessly for my requirements. I feel this is a very good and professional product. Well work the expense when needed. Have not had to use any help features other than the online Q & A database they have.

I work remotely and occasionally from home. Using GoToMyPC is fantastic. I can access office-bound files and applications as if I am physically there. My work is so much easier having this capability. It saves hours of what would be traveling in and out of Manchester at unsavory hours. GoToMyPC is a perfect solution for my work/life balance.

Launching bespoke company apps
To be able to print in the office from remote locations
Saving documents on internal servers

Cons

Better reporting where there are speed issues

As someone who is traveling around the North West of England, GoToMyPC is a perfect solution as our client estimating tool is not cloud-based and I can access my desktop in the office as if I am sitting at my office desk.

We have been using go to my pc for many years in our company to work remotely. Access data files. So far it has been a great product for us for daily use to help transfer data from work pc to home pc. We also use it to help employees if they get stuck on issues. I don't need to be there all the time

GoToMyPC works consistently well and is my favorite remoting software. Until they mess it up somehow I'll be using it for accessing work computers from home. The cost keeps me from adding more than 2 computers at the moment. It's especially useful for doing maintenance on work computers or printing orders from home.

Pros

remembers login info
notifies when connection bad and keeps working best it can

Cons

i can't add more computers because it costs nearly $800 for only 2 computers
account and settings are hard to navigate but please don't mess them up further with site redo

Well suited to remoting into work from home. Less appropriate for people who don't have $800 a year for only 2 computers.

I am often out of the office, the ability to connect to my work computer [and] is very important to the business. I am able to help out after hours and on weekends, if there is an important project. This has saved us a great deal of time and money by eliminating frequent trips to the office at off times. I LOVE GoToMyPC!!

Pros

Fast file transfer eliminates burning and carrying necessary and sometimes "controlled" files.
Being able to see things on other employees' computers allows for faster project assistance and troubleshooting.
Checking the status of our servers is fast and easy

Cons

As I only tend to use the "basic" part of GoToMyPC, I do not really [know] about the new stuff. Better communication of features, possibly on the "Home" screen would be helpful.

Home, school, business - you can find an appropriate use for GoToMyPC just about anywhere!!

I work from home and need a solid remote connection. I used GoToMyPC in the past, had some issues and was influenced to switch to competitor software. I recently started having problems with slow response/freezes/drops, and after troubleshooting everything internet and hardware related, decided to check out GoToMyPC as one step in troubleshooting, and happy I tried this. GoToMyPC has better response time and has been more reliable. GoToMyPC has improved considerably since my last experience and I no longer have issues mentioned earlier, related to competitor software. I do experience a glitch with Excel when using GoToMyPC (copy/paste doesn't work as it should), but it's minor as compared to slow response/freezes/drops. I would like to figure out a way to make the drop-down ribbon stable. I find it distracting with the constant popping up/down. The Support Site could use improvement - key words don't seem to work when troubleshooting and no answers to issues I've searched. There is no Chat option, with only phone support that I haven't tried yet, so no measurement on wait time. At this point, I will continue using GoToMyPC and see how it goes.

Improve support search engine, add Chat Support
Fix Excel glitch with copy/paste
Make the drop-down ribbon stable - constant popping up/down is distracting.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Some of our employees work completely remotely accessing the company server through GoToMyPC. Some of us use it to check-in after hours. The reliability and speed of the connection have always been exceptional. Couldn't complain at all.

Pros

Connection speed was always good.
Reliability. We rarely had an occasion where GoToMyPc didn't connect.
Customer support has always been prompt and thorough.
