What is Google Forms?

Google Forms is an app for creating forms and surveys, and is part of Google Apps for Work. The product focuses on ease of use; the interface is similar to a document editor, with drop down lists of options and drag and drop question re-ordering. Users can embed images and video into surveys. Users can also program the question flow with custom logic. Google sends users basic summaries of the survey results automatically, or users can export the raw survey results data and analyze it via spreadsheets or other analytics software.

Great for small budget-conscious enterprises

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are a small company with tight budgets and need to be able to collect registrations as well as feedback. Google forms allows us to do this economically and simply. It is easy to create the forms we need, and to repurpose existing forms by duplicating and editing. This meets our needs admirably.

Pros

  • Form design is simple
  • There are options for collecting results
  • Sharing the form is easy by email or link

Cons

  • It would help to have more templates that can be adapted, saving design time
  • If you have more than one Google account it can be easy to open the wrong one for your form design
  • Occasionally the sharing settings can exclude potential recipients because they are not configured correctly

Return on Investment

  • We have been able to design and implement forms with zero additional cost
  • Getting feedback has enabled us to improve without a budget item for such feedback

SurveyMonkey

User-friendly tool for simple surveys and RSVP.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Google Forms for multiple registrations and RSVP for our free events. It is free and very easy to use, doesn't require special access like forms in Wix. Every event manager can use forms tailored to their needs, customize them, and gather the necessary information about event participants. All answers are collected in Google Sheets and can be downloaded as a CSV file for use in any CRM.

Pros

  • Collect answers.
  • Make quizzes.
  • RSVP
  • Collect contacts.

Cons

  • It is not secure to keep some information in Google Sheets.
  • Design options are limited.
  • Limited questions types.

Return on Investment

  • Speed up event registration.
  • Helps to collect leads.
  • Helps to collect data and use it for planning events.

Google Forms for Childcare Industry

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Google Forms for business reviews from enrolled families, enrollment interest from families, staff anonymous reviews, time-off requests, interest polls, and more! Google Forms is very versatile, and I use it whenever I need input and information from a large group of people, whether it is families or teachers.

Pros

  • I love the feature that turns the form into a google sheet. It makes the information very easy to view and access.
  • I like that you can choose whether or not you want to collect email addresses so that the form can be anonymous if needed.
  • I really like how accessible and easy to read the charts and graphs are.

Cons

  • I think that the settings tab should be in the hamburger menu in the top right corner instead of where it is in the middle of the screen. That style is a little funky and doesn't really conform to more intuitive UI design.

Return on Investment

  • Without Google Forms, I would have to gather these responses differently, taking a lot of time out of my busy schedule.
  • Google Forms allows our childcare to keep a pulse on enrollment needs of families and the data gathers directly impacts keeping our center to capacity, allowing us to provide more care to more local families.
