What is Google for Jobs?

Google for Jobs is a free tool that enables businesses to post jobs on their job boards that will appear in Google searches. Google brings together job postings from across the web, whether they're on websites run by small businesses or job sites with thousands of listings. This helps job seekers find their next job directly in Search.

Posting positions, searching for candidates, connecting with applicants, and ultimately filling openings. This is a powerful tool for all of this and more. A good find for the busy HR professional

We are able to post our new positions that become open for the company on the site. It has given us a broader scope of applicants that have been able to fit our needs, instead of the traditional job hunting sites that we have used in the past. The applicants have been better suited for our positions.

Expensive, but offers some neat features that seem to be more user friendly than others

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I am always on the lookout for competitive jobs for myself and to see if I am paying my employees fairly. I like to use Google Jobs to see what other companies are paying their employees and their job descriptions to match.

Pros

  • Pulls from all job site sources.
  • Provides average for other similar jobs.
  • Displays an easy to read format.

Cons

  • Sometimes Google does not pull relevant searches. I might search "marketing" and a plumber comes up.
  • Google could use more filter categories like searching multiple cities or certain hours.
  • Google could make sure companies are filling out the compensation for the job instead of leaving it up in the air.

Most Important Features

  • The ability to search easily and filter down to the category of job.
  • Easy to apply button.

Return on Investment

  • Positive: given me a good feel for the market and compensation.
  • Negative: sometimes the compensation estimate is way off.

Clean, but lacking some useful functionality

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I think the largest problem with Google for Jobs is the disorganization of postings and lack of assistance the system provides on stale postings.

  • Easy access to job descriptions.
  • Has the info required.
  • Acceptable setup (provides recommendations on what fields to fill).

Cons

  • Reminding us when we don't remove old postings.
  • Posting rank algorithm
  • How jobs are organized

  • Job description field

Return on Investment

  • Greater access to candidates (found us from the web).
  • More company visibility.
  • Centralized place to place our job postings.
