Google Charts for all your graph and charting needs

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Google Charts is being used on a team by team basis here where I work. It was selected because Google integration is very straight forward and comprehensive. The business problem that it addresses is creating easy to use and easy to read charts for different data sets during internal presentations.

Pros

  • Timelines
  • Data tables and charts that are highly customizable
  • Integration with Google Sheets

Cons

  • Some companies require Microsoft applications vs Google
  • No desktop application, browser only

Likelihood to Recommend

Google Charts is perfectly suited for most presentations that are data oriented. There's not much of a limit on the type of table or chart you can create, and being able to integrate with Google Sheets just makes things even easier if you've already got the data stored somewhere. It works well on desktop browsers, Iphones, and Android phones. The only drawback I've been able to find is for those that prefer to have a desktop application.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Google Charts being a free tool for a reporting dashboard, it does a very good job. It offers interactive dashboards. Even though adding a data source is not that straightforward, it offers different data sources to be added, and also dynamically they can be sourced. Different chart types are also available to be used.

Pros

  • Interactive dashboards with real-time data
  • Multiple data sources can be added
  • Dynamic data loading into the charts

Cons

  • Loading data source is not straight forward, can be simplified
  • Rich and complex analytics is not supported

Likelihood to Recommend

  • Scenarios where Google Charts are well suited - Complex analytical reports are not needed, data source doesn't keep changing, and integration with data source already exists.
  • Scenarios where Google Charts are less appropriate - Complex analytics and reporting is needed. Data is highly scaled and changes very frequently. Lot of sorting and filtering is needed.
