GoGuardian Teacher - Take Control of Your Classroom

Pros

  • Account setup is very easy.
  • The software is extremely intuitive.

Cons

  • Students sometimes do not show up in the software despite being logged on to a Chromebook.
  • A Chromebook coming in and out of a sleep state can cause the user to not show up correctly.

Return on Investment

  • We have been able to identify inappropriate websites that students have discovered. For example anonymous proxies, movie streaming, etc. Through this software, we have been able to identify the students and in turn block the websites.
  • We have been able to identify which students have been using other user's accounts. This was an unintended side effect of the software. If a teacher knows that a student is using a Chromebook but the student is not showing up in the software, we are easily able to deduce that the user must be using another student's account.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

GoGuardian has been used during my entire time while employed in Prosper ISD (Prosper, TX) for the past 8 years. Cloud-Based Monitoring for Teachers

Pros

  • GoGuardian allows the teacher to view all students' devices simultaneously.

Cons

  • Difficulty with syncing some students into the system. De-bug that software glitch.
  • Add on-to the scheduling by implementing a calendar so there is not unnecessary tracking during breaks/days off of school.

Return on Investment

  • District invested a large sum into the program - but it has increased student engagement in the district.
