  • Easily job cost all of your projects.
  • Easy reports.

  • Tracking work completed, percent of completion for all projects.
  • Detailed records.

Cons

  • I would not change a thing about Foundation.

Likelihood to Recommend

Working as a general contractor or subcontractor, I highly recommend Foundation Software Construction Accounting. I would not recommend it for anything outside construction, but it could still be used for other businesses.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Our organization utilizes Foundation to streamline our accounting functions and process payroll, as well as to pull various reports. I personally utilize it for accounting functions such as billing, invoicing and pulling reports for reviewing with my managers. The reports and invoicing features are fairly easy to utilize and assist me with my job functions.

Pros

  • Invoicing
  • Reports
  • Payroll

Cons

  • Custom Reports
  • Templates
  • Purchase order approval process

Likelihood to Recommend

Foundation Software Construction Accounting good for some things and not great at others

Rating: 5 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it for A/P, A/R, Payroll, Accounting, Job Costing, and Equipment Management. It works well for prevailing wage payroll, but the timecard system is clunky and I think it could be streamlined. It does the bare minimum of job costing. It does not work for issuing purchase orders the way we need it to. It does the bare minimum for equipment tracking. In our experience, nothing is automated and very little can be customized.

Pros

  • Prevailing wage

Cons

  • I think A/P Invoice approval could be much smoother.
  • Purchase orders should be more detailed able to be issued and easily modified and enter invoices against them.
  • A/P check distribution should let you select checks for ACH payment and printed check in the same run.

Likelihood to Recommend

It is best for smaller contractors, and probably best for subcontractors, not prime contractors. Simple use-cases would work well, and anything that is private work. In my opinion, larger companies, and prevailing wage work is not the best fit. You will find many features lacking in these scenarios.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Foundations has been a wonderful relief. You can build reports that you need. Several normal reports are at the click of a button. It lets you add shortcuts on the side and reorder them easily. I love that when looking at a report in the system, if something is blue, I can click on it and it opens it in another tab. I can have multiple tabs open. Jump from doing one thing to another and back again. I import employees from the onboarding system. That saves enormous amounts of time. It tracks pto, eeo, tax info. It has made things more efficient for me.

Pros

  • stores images of documents with invoice or ar
  • imports time for payroll
  • imports employee information from onboarding

Cons

  • it has frozen on me while working-though this has not happened often
  • when saving, it has forgotten the mapping

Likelihood to Recommend

Does not have employee facing portal where employee can update info. Does not have part to do onboarding, hr, etc. Payroll is wonderful and more efficient. Pulling reports is amazingly easy. Building reports is easy.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Foundation

Software is being used in our organization as an accounting tool. We use it to

manage accounts payable and receivable, as well as to track project costs.

Pros

  • Time saver.
  • Web-based.
  • Work from anywhere.

Cons

  • Certified payroll reports.
  • Non-customized reports.
  • Security.

Likelihood to Recommend

It is good for payroll and for accounting but the reports for certified payroll are not adaptable to actual reporting and often do not fit the format needed and umber are not correct. The integration with other software and programs leaves room to be desired. Takes a while to learn before you get the desired results.
