Figma is a comprehensive tool for product design and development, widely adopted by design, product, and engineering teams. In TrustRadius reviews, it serves as a primary platform for wireframing, prototyping from low to high fidelity, and crafting graphic elements; 64% of reviewers highlight its critical role in this area. Its core strengths include robust real-time collaboration, comprehensive prototyping capabilities, and effective management of design systems, which streamline workflows and ensure consistency.
Reviewers also highlight its improved developer handoff features and the cost-effectiveness gained from pre-development visualization. However, some desire more advanced prototyping functionality, such as API integration or complex multi-page interactions. Performance can degrade with larger files, and non-designers may face a learning curve. Despite these points, the overall sentiment indicates Figma significantly accelerates development and enhances team communication.
Pros
Real-time collaborative design and iteration
Comprehensive and interactive prototyping capabilities
Effective management and consistency through design systems and components
Streamlined design-to-development handoff via Dev Mode
Accelerates product development workflows and reduces rework
Cons
Limited advanced prototyping features (e.g., API integration, complex multi-page flows)
Performance degradation and slowness with large or complex files
Steep learning curve and navigation challenges for non-designer stakeholders
Based on my personal experience, I find Figma to be an exceptionally efficient and user-friendly digital design tool. Its intuitive interface makes it easy for beginners to use while being powerful enough to handle complex projects, striking a rare balance. What sets it apart is the real-time collaboration feature that allows me to work seamlessly with my teammates, irrespective of our locations. This feature not only speeds up the design process but also enriches it with diverse inputs and instant feedback.
Pros
We use Figma as a virtual whiteboard for brainstorming sessions, enabling designers, project managers, and stakeholders to contribute ideas and feedback.
Figma helps us rapidly create interactive prototypes that mimic the final product. This allows for early testing and validation of design concepts with users and stakeholders.
We use Figma for its robust set of web design features. It allows our designers to create responsive layouts and export it into HTML and CSS.
Cons
One of Figma's limitations is its reliance on an internet connection.
Figma struggles with performance issues, particularly when dealing with large files or complex projects with many layers and components.
While Figma has a good range of plugins and integrations, expanding this ecosystem could provide users with more functionality and customization.
The user interface in Figma offers limited customization.

Whenever my team and I needed to collaborate closely on a project, Figma proved to be an invaluable tool. Its real-time collaboration feature allowed us to work seamlessly, even when we were in different locations. This was especially helpful during remote work situations. Figma's component and style libraries have been a game-changer for me while working on larger projects that require a consistent design language. It has simplified maintaining consistency across different parts of the project.
I frequently used Figma for quickly creating prototypes. Its tools are straightforward and efficient, making it easy to develop functional mockups that can be presented to clients or used for user testing purposes.
Design System: We are responsible for mobile apps and figma is a handy place to manage all the bits and pieces. Prototyping: We are creating high fidelity prototypes only, since the design system allows to put together ideas very quickly. Most of the times we create even user journeys in the figma which then handed over to the engineering. In rare cases we create clickable prototypes in maze.co based on the figma deisgns, but we find it exhausting especially if it requires several iterations.
Figma Jam: This is basically everyting else related to PM work. Business Model Canvas, Value Proposition, prioritizing, or just brainstorming ideas. The speed and smoothness is pretty cool lately. So it becomes my favorite tool slowly.
Pros
Speed
Ideas management
design system
Cons
more options in figma jam
more templates in figma jam

As I mentioned previously we use it for 3 purposes. Design system, prototyping and brainstorming, etc. The one place I see it needs improvement is the sharing. I mean sharing works great but sometimes when I want to share one frame it is not always obvious what I'll share and happened ina few cases that I accidentally shared some wrong frames in JIRA and the devs were confused.

I use Figma a lot, to create prototypes, designs and create ideas for websites and presentations. I believe Figma is used by other areas of the company, as it is free and wonderful software. Figma stands out for its collaborative power and ease of use, it was a problem to work with a team on other software, but Figma solved this main issue, everyone can work at the same time.
Pros
Collaborative
Price
Great functions
Cons
I can't think of any negative points, really

Figma is suitable for those who want to work in a team and want this to be done efficiently, quickly and lightly. You don't even have to download it on your computer, it can be accessed via the website, which makes it very fluid. The possibility of using plugins also makes everyday life much easier. We have a huge variety of plugins and functions available.
Figma is used in our Marketing department that services the entire University. As we design collateral and assets for all University initiatives we can utilize Figma as a central means of designing and wireframing digital campaign assets and prototypes for landing pages and other projects. It also simplifies working with external vendors that develop and assist with our digital efforts.
Pros
Cloud software with auto-save and no lag
Components!
Always adding features and integrations
Cons
Slight learning curve if coming from an Adobe workflow
Training resources are not as plentiful as Sketch and XD (Figma site is constantly improving though)
Not as easy to round trip like you can in Adobe products

Figma's online collaboration is unmatched. If you are working with a large team or especially a remote one this is a game changer. Also, Figma works on just about any platform as a desktop app in addition to designing in the browser so it's not tied to Mac like Sketch.
Currently, Figma is being used pretty rarely at our organization. However, we’ve used it in the past when we’ve been searching for a less expensive, web-based solution that allows for real-time collaboration. We’ve run into some collaboration issues with other products that don’t enable real-time co-working, like Adobe XD, so we’re considering ways we might use Figma in our design efforts when we want to work with remote designers who aren’t necessarily full-time members of our organization (e.g. contractors).
Pros
No installation needed! Functioning fully within a web browser, Figma can save on computer storage. And as an editor/designer, all the free space I can have is very much valued.
Figma allows for real-time collaboration. This is the best part of this product, as it removes some of the issues of designing "in a vacuum" when your designers are often working remotely.
Figma allows for ease of sharing and facilitating design feedback loops. Instead of having to use a plugin to a tool like InVision, we can quickly receive feedback within Figma and know that our comments are safely stored in the same place as the original designs.
Cons
With larger files, Figma tends to run a little slowly. This was sometimes problematic because a lot of our designs do involve large files.
No built-in animation tools (you have to use the Principle integration). We’re starting to involve small animations in our designs, and Figma’s lack of this type of functionality made it difficult to have an in-app solution to creating prototypes with animations. We are reluctant to take on another tool for the sake of integration when other products have this feature built in.
Offline use is risky -- if the internet drops out, then one must keep the screen open until the internet reconnects. This may not be a big issue for people living in more urban places, but sometimes having the internet go out can be a regular occurrence for many designers on staff.

Figma is really great if you’re looking for a web-based design tool that enables real-time collaboration. That piece is the jewel of this product, as it’s not a functionality that’s available in many other similar products. Great for soliciting and integrating feedback quickly, and for storing conversations about designs in a single place for future reference. It’s also pretty easy to use if you’re familiar with the interface of Sketch. This is not a product well-suited for those who do not have a consistently reliable internet connection. For these folks, there’s a real risk of losing work if the connection goes out.
