Modern and Intellectual Designing Tool

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I've been using this product over the last 7 years (since its previous version). My primary use-case is to provide strategic graphical visualization with high-quality output that sends a clear visual message to a larger audience for "deeper engagement". Its not for a general audience but more for a subject matter technical and functionally focussed audience. The key problem this product addresses is its ability to graphically represent complex abstractions that you have created in your mind - such as concentric circles, patterns that you always have in your mind but don't know how to draw them and end up hiring a design expert to do it for you.

Pros

  • Concentric circles
  • Free flow shapes with multiple shearing points such as an elongated ellipse
  • pre-made high-res Icons, images for use

Cons

  • One-click auto-export feature to a preferred format. Currently, you'd have to go through at least 3 steps to export)
  • More ready-to-use Icon libraries
  • API to adjust vector graphics
  • AI augmentation to provide user input during complex diagramming

Most Important Features

  • High-quality and complex visuals
  • Export to multiple formats
  • Quick to use and design

Return on Investment

  • Intellectual leverage
  • Develops a large-scale trust (good graphics is always appreciated even if its complex to read)
  • Impactful visualization (hard to enumerate)

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

As an IT Solution Architect, I build solution packs for several clients. I use the Wondershare EdrawMind to mind map the details around the intake of requirements and workflow for the requested project design. Once I have the project request vetted and mind mapped, I will then use Edraw-Max to take the material and create a more detailed design of the solution detailing the requirements in the design with any data and application flows. While there are many tools out there for this type of activity, I appreciate how the EdrawMin and Edraw-max integrate. The number of useful templates, icons, intuitive interface and the import/export feature helps me create documents my clients can utilize as well depending on the tool of choice for their business needs. The Wondershare Support team is also very responsive and does their best to assist you, they follow up to assure your need/issue is resolved. In the event, there is no options/solution they do take the information to the development team. I was pleasantly pleased when they took my need and forwarded to the development team to evaluate in future updates.

Pros

  • Integrates with Mind mapping tool Edrawmind.
  • Large selection of template for a number of business needs.
  • Build timelines and charts.

Cons

  • Better Visio import/export
  • Easier option to make the working field infinite or auto break into pages.

Most Important Features

  • Mind Mapping
  • Large selection of templates
  • Import/export to other tool types
  • User Interface

Return on Investment

  • Stream Line solution design, able to complete task in shorter time.
  • I don't have to own many tools for different clients.
  • Utilization of Mind Mapping to work through the requirements process.

EdrawMax is a Hummer crossed with a Lamborghini

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use EDrawMax for a wide variety of needs from designing and describing a new accounting and business operations system for the contractors to use, to designing marketing material for the graphic productions department to use.

EDrawMax is totally amazing. I just finished an intense 10 day long rush job working 14 hr days with EdrawMax to put the company in a new, fast growth direction. Almost everything was sublimely superb with the app. It is deceptively powerful. In fact, it’s easy to under estimate!! It does not look like a cross between a Hummer and a Lamborghini, but it is a workhorse and an artist's treasure. I got stuff done so fast it shocked me. With no training and little prior experience with this app, I was able to do almost everything I needed. There are instructional videos for me to watch and that will help to sharpen the ax.

I think the programmers are really great. Super talented and smart, and the app development team has true geniuses at work. It’s fun to use this. I’m blown away by how many features from other productivity apps are woven into this. I am very productive because it’s built on mainstream functions and cues which are already in my head! The final ace in the hole is that its continuing to be refined and improved!

Steve Jobs would be very pleased with these guys.

Pros

  • Flow charting
  • Depict a complex process so its easily understood
  • Its structure and organization are very similar to how mainstream apps work.
  • Its huge and expandable feature set blows away all other apps
  • I want the right tools because my time is precious. This is the right choice by far.

Cons

  • I have had trouble printing over sized images on a single page. I succeeded but it needs polish
  • Some fonts have format issues. So, use a different font or a different size.
  • I rushed in; had no time to listen to their instructional videos. I'll go back and watch these then probably double my productivity
  • I can't yet make a new shape library, but it's due to my lack of know-how.

Most Important Features

  • versatile
  • easy to use
  • low cost (lifetime)

Return on Investment

  • I am using it to guide us into a huge business growth opportunity where none of a dozen similar apps I have used before could meet our needs so well and so quickly
  • Our IT costs will be much lower as a result of how easily and clearly I can explain our needs with this tool, not just to the developers, but to the users, a well. Then, the Marketing folks can take the process diagrams and use them for new marketing material.
