I have been using Dropbox for the last 5+ years, mainly as storage folder for project documentation as well as archive after project completion. Additionally, Dropbox contains a comprehensive knowledge base in terms of downloaded articles and papers, links to books and other generally available documentation, etc.

I use Dropbox professionally to share secure data, it's great for internal sharing without having to navigate emails. I also use it personally to share data between friends, and just backup any local information that I deem needed. It's very useful and convenient and integrates with your desktop or mobile device. I've been using dropbox off and on for the past ten years, it's held up great and my old files are still there, still secure.

I wanted to share some files for a class with a few classmates, and we were able to compare notes, some texts from class, and some books from our professor. We also used this on a project we were working on together. And this functionality was before a lot of other file sharing platforms were available, probably 2008. Dropbox has been a good place to securely share files for a long time. Since then, I've used it in the workplace to securely share passwords and other things.

I asked Dropbox to retrieve the data. After months of assurance that they could retrieve the data, they were unsuccessful to retrieve the data.

Dropbox is well suited in situations where there are lots of files that are being shared, stored, and transferred on a daily basis. DropBox is especially helpful in situations where file sizes limit the ability of users to share documents in other formats (i.e. email, text, etc.). Dropbox is less suited for customers / businesses with low-tier data management.
We store everything in Dropbox. Everything that happens, happens in Dropbox. We send items for review through Dropbox, using the "share this link" and love the options to launch the files in Word, Excel, etc. from the web, download a copy, or open the source file. It really helps with a variety of business functions. When working with contractors, we can send them large files over email with the Dropbox link.

Our team uses Dropbox for collecting field work photos via links into our site admin and ultimately our invoices for clients. I also use Dropbox as our main file system for the company and my home system as well. We recently did an workflow analysis, and Google Drive won out, overwhelmingly, when we approached Dropbox for pro-rated refund, they said our annual service fee paid 30 days before was totally unrefundable, we're actually discontinuing this service as soon as possible.
