I use Dropbox to have the same version of files on multiple devices - t he main benefit is that I can use two separate computers in home and regular office, and I do not have to move with the devices when I switch. The second use is archiving documents, so they are easily available when I need to access them from other devices. Additional features - managing screenshots, archiving images and movies from my phone.

Cons

Exporting files in Android device. There is some unnecessary complexity.

Likelihood to Recommend

This is a good solution for both personal and business use. It is very good to manage files in teams for work on files by multiple people. Sharing documents for other users is also reasonably good. Last but not least - Dropbox enables to provide a file space for clients, where they can drop their large files to ensure the smooth transfer to the project team.

I primarily use it as a backup and filesharing platform for data, software, Word file versions, etc. I use it separately from my organization-sponsored file-sharing platform (OneDrive). Sharing with collaborators outside of the organization has historically been challenging and Dropbox overcomes that, though recently OneDrive has become easier to use for collaboration purposes.

Easy download of programs/exe, not just docx, pptx, or similar files
File sharing

Cons

The biggest issue is that folks who I collaborate with who do not have 2TB subscription very quickly run out of space. I would prefer the free-version of Dropbox be expanded to accommodate them.

Likelihood to Recommend

It is not well suited if the amount of data to be shared exceeds >500gb nor is it well suited if files are edited and viewed simultaneously.

I use Dropbox as my cloud backup. I also share folders with clients. It keeps me organized so well. I am able to access all my folders from my laptop as well as my phone and other devices. It makes it so easy and accessible. Clients love the ease and accessibility as well.

Cons

The starring function doesn't seem to work well when sharing. One user stars files/images, but the other doesn't see it.

I recommend Dropbox for everybody. I like the interface and ease of use better than Google drive. Dropbox seems to be an industry standard for professionals in my industry. The sharing functions are great for everybody, it's integrated on my mac and iPhone so seamlessly. Again, I've used Dropbox for years now for my business and I haven't had any complaints. Thank you!

I use different kind of devices, being Android, Imac and an Ipad, I'm also an illustrator and small business owner so I use Dropbox to be able to have my illustrations saved, as my main program is Procreate and everything is only saved in the program itself, it's really easy to select and send everything to an specific folder in Dropbox, also, to be able to download the posts and edits I make on my computer into my Android Phone to be able to post on social media.

Pros

It syncs right away between all my devices.
For artist when downloading a brush and save it in Dropbox, is really fast to install it in your program when doing it IN Dropbox.
Is easy to make folders from any device, be it phone, tablet.

Cons

Honestly I don't have any issue, I recommend Dropbox to everyone because of that.

Likelihood to Recommend

When working with teams how it syncs so fast is always the best.
When delivering folders and files, is really easy to use even for first time users as it's really intuitive.
To organize files in different folders for clients.
For making backup copies of important work.
It's great for any freelancer.

We store all of the business's past work in Dropbox. I work in the creative department at Modern Brand, and once I complete a project in Adobe, I upload the working file to Dropbox. This way, everyone on the team can access these files both now and in the future.

I use Dropbox to firstly backup all of the files on my MacBook bro, but also to keep a further backup of my photo album on my iPhone. This then also allows me to access these files remotely when I’m not physically at each of these devices.

The safety of having a backup of the entire file base of my MacBook Pro is certainly worth the subscription.

The ability to backup and store files in the cloud is excellent. It allows me to be safe in knowing I have a backup should anything happen to my device.

It also allows me to save space on my device (MacBook Pro), as I’m able to save files as ‘online only’ which then allows me to pull the files I need from the cloud when I need them, saving a lot of space locally on my device.

I do a lot of fashion work but also keep my personal stuff in there. folder system is great but it does already sync in with my phone (photos), which is great but I have thousands of photos being saved that I deleted from my phone, plus those I do want to keep are duplicated since I add them to separate folders . Files are great though to share with others

editing videos function (could add a few more things though)

Cons

sometimes I get confused where something has been saved
to be able to turn off location of any videos and photos (am not sure if it's already there and I don't know how to use it)
maybe be able to turn powerpoint files into accessible links to forward (I try to send my portfolio on platforms such as Upwork, Linkedin, even email and it's very difficult since the file is big

Likelihood to Recommend

I don't use it for much else except storing my videos and photos and files, for sharing and forwarding them to others so it's hard to describe what it is well suited for. Definitely as a file sharing space between colleagues and friends. It could potential be useful to have a tutorial video to show what all functions it has other then a storage area and file sharing platform.

My wife and I use it for personal use, not organization. We mainly use it to auto sync photos and store all our documents. When our mobile's storage is getting full, then we just delete photos and videos to from our mobile to free up space and not have to worry as they all are already synced to our Dropbox account.

Pros

Auto sync of photos and videos
Mobile app is great
Dropbox passwords is very helpful in managing our passwords

Cons

Some times the photos and videos do not auto sync in the background unless we start the app on our mobiles
Accessing Excel documents, especially if it has multiple tabs is slow on mobile app

Central storage of files, backups per device, Dropbox password management mobile app, Dropbox mobile app. We can share the account with multiple users and have access to the same files with latest versions. The feature of rolling back a file to a previous version similar to Microsoft SharePoint is awesome.

We use it in managing candidate profiles in our recruitment process. We store important files including employee profiles, payroll files, and all sorts of documentation. basically all files go through Dropbox.

Pros

Limit access - had to get access
keep files organized

Cons

moving files - drive has been better in this department
kinda hard to navigate if you don't have the full access
would be nice to be informed that the reason you are unable to do certain functions is because you lack access instead of just loading until eternity - e.g. opening a file in web based word on a folder you don't have access to.

It is a decent cloud based storage system. Maybe I need more training and experience.

The desktop app takes an eternity to update. Would have been a better user experience but the slowness in updating makes me stick to the web based app.

Dropbox is my complete, comprehensive file storage system for all the work I do as a graphic designer and marketing director. In addition to having more storage space available than my laptop, which means I do not need to remove older files for space, it allows me to work remotely from wherever I am without worrying about what computer I'm using. It also allows me to share files with coworkers and clients.

Likelihood to Recommend

When sharing design comps with clients, I can control who has access to the files so that I don't need to make them public. Additionally I can control what kind of access is shares - edit, read only, etc - so that I don't have to worry about who is accessing my files.
