Dropbox serves as a primary solution for secure file storage and backup, with organizations widely using it to house diverse digital assets and ensure centralized access. In TrustRadius reviews, it is frequently highlighted for its ability to streamline file sharing and collaboration, enabling efficient sharing of large files and facilitating co-editing among teams. Reviewers also value its robust support for remote access, allowing users to retrieve files from any device, anywhere, which underpins flexible work environments.

The platform contributes to significant operational efficiencies and cost savings by reducing reliance on physical storage and enhancing remote work capabilities. However, some reviewers identify challenges with file organization and management, noting that the folder system can be confusing. Search functionality, particularly on the web, and aspects of the user interface, like selective sync, are also cited as areas needing improvement. Overall, reviewers report a positive return on investment, despite occasional technical issues and concerns about pricing.

Easy to store files and collaborate

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Dropbox for our file management system. It has been very helpful since we are all in different locations and of course there is the ability to see changes made by colleagues. Dropbox addresses issues around file management, collaboration, and access since we are all in different locations. It allows us to file documents in an easily accessible way for all employees regardless of location, collaborate on documents and see who last edited or if a document is currently being edited and it provides easy access for us all at an moment.

Pros

  • Easy to access files
  • Easy to see who last made changes
  • Easy to collaborate

Cons

  • Dropbox could improve the ability to access and send files from the web browser
  • It would be great to be able to attach a file from the browser without sending a link
  • It would also be helpful to see edits that were made similar to track changes and being able to turn that on or off

Likelihood to Recommend

Again its well suited for collaborating, file management, seeing changes made and quick access to files. For example, we use Dropbox for documents that we share with clients, various people edit and collaborate on those documents.

We also use it to store documents for each client project so that allows us all easy access at any time to documents for client projects and the ability to organize documents for each client project.

It's not as well suited for editing, you can see that someone is in the document or working on it but you cannot see edits that were made or any changes/updates.
