Business Problems Solved

Doxy.me has proven to be an invaluable platform for therapy sessions, enabling users to conduct meetings and sessions remotely. With over 369 pages of meetings and 3,689 sessions conducted so far, it has become a cost-effective solution for many therapists and clients. The ease of use and free pricing have saved users thousands of dollars on expensive online programs, making it accessible to a wide range of professionals.

One of the key use cases of Doxy.me is its convenience for patients who are unable to attend in-person sessions due to relocation or other factors. Clients find it easy to join sessions on Doxy.me, reducing stress for all parties involved. This convenience has been especially important during the COVID-19 pandemic when in-person visits were limited or not possible.

The platform's reliability has also been highlighted by users, although some have noticed a slightly less robust connection recently, potentially due to location or service provider changes. Nonetheless, Doxy.me has played a critical role in clinics and practices that provide telehealth services, particularly in areas with limited accessibility to in-person services.

Furthermore, Doxy.me has helped therapists expand their practice by offering telehealth services to clients who have moved away or prefer virtual meetings. It has provided a secure and HIPAA-compliant platform that ensures the privacy and comfort of both therapists and clients. Additionally, the ability to communicate with patients via the waiting room and conduct group calls has made scheduling and check-ins more convenient.

Despite occasional glitches reported by some users, Doxy.me's simplicity and lack of required downloads make it easy for clients to connect to sessions from various devices including smartphones. The product has played a significant role in meeting the mental health needs of clients during the COVID-19 pandemic by providing a reliable telehealth solution.

Beyond mental health therapy, Doxy.me has practical applications in various fields such as medicine and social work. It allows professionals to continue providing services remotely and securely, leading to improved continuity of care for their patients. The platform has been praised for its ease of setup and use, with both clinical staff and patients having positive experiences.

Overall, Doxy.me has become an invaluable tool for healthcare professionals in providing telehealth services, whether it's to continue therapy sessions during challenging times, expand their practice beyond geographical limitations, or offer accessible care to individuals who cannot easily attend in-person visits.

Free BAA Doxy - poor audio functionality, no screen sharing, but great backup platform

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use free BAA [doxy.me] as a backup telehealth platform for virtual mental health therapy when my primary telehealth platform provided by my group practice has technical difficulties.

Pros

  • Offers a free option with a HIPAA-compliant BAA.
  • Simple interface.

Cons

  • Speaker and microphone defaults and settings easily go wrong and result in one person not hearing the other person, and adjusting the audio in/out settings is not intuitive, nor does even making every possible adjustment always result in bringing back sound.
  • Sometimes all parties can hear each other, but one party's voice is chronically session after session so warped and warbled we have to mute the Doxy audio and call each other on the phone for session audio.
  • If a user is accessing [doxy.me] on a phone, briefly switching to another app then switching back to the Doxy screen completely messes up the audio.
  • [doxy.me] lacks a screen sharing option which is regrettable, because screen sharing is an integral part of my therapy practice to work on worksheets together with clients in-session.

Likelihood to Recommend

The audio functionality on [doxy.me] is chronically very poor and it lacks screen sharing, so I would never recommend it as a primary telehealth platform, but I highly recommend the free BAA version as an affordable backup telehealth platform should one's primary platform fail.
