VBlock - advanced hyper converged solution for your on premise hardware needs.
Use Cases and Deployment Scope
DELL/EMC VBlock is a hyper converged platform used for on premise workloads of the enterprise hybrid cloud. VBlock provides processing, storage, and replication services. VBlock runs mixed workloads, including database servers, application, and web tier servers, as well as general IT and supporting services. In addition, VBlock runs low-latency communication workloads, such as Cisco Call Manager and Microsoft Lync server.
Pros
- Speed - unparalleled processing speed and responsiveness. VBlock design eliminates bottlenecks in data transfer between components.
- Reliability - Built with leading industry components VBLock ensures low hardware incident rate.
- Resiliency by design. VBlock is designed, built, and setup in a way that no single component failure will cause loss of functionality or management capabilities.
- Integration
Cons
- Even tighter integration between components, with single pane of management dashboard to manage and deploy solutions.
- Automation - as of right now there is no single administrative interface provided to script solution provisioning.
Likelihood to Recommend
VBlock is extremely well-suited for reliable delivery of virtualized mixed workloads. VBlock provides necessary hardware abstraction that allows for, uninterrupted by hardware failures, continuous delivery of critical services that otherwise do not provide hardware failure resiliency. VBlock is not the best solution from a financial standpoint for cost-sensitive solutions that are programmed for software resiliency.
