Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Dashlane Password Manager across the firm as our main password manager. Everyone from attorneys to admin staff keeps their logins in it so we don’t rely on spreadsheets or sticky notes. It helps us generate strong, unique passwords and share them securely without sending them over email or Slack. That’s been a big shift because onboarding and offboarding used to mean a lot of manual handoffs, now it’s quick to add or remove someone’s access. The main problems it solves for us are reducing the risk of credential leaks, cutting down wasted time hunting for or resetting passwords, and meeting client and regulatory expectations around security. Since we deal with sensitive financial and legal data, showing we have good controls in place matters. We use Dashlane Password Manager on desktop, browser, and mobile so people can get into the systems they need wherever they are. It covers everything from legal tech tools like Bill4Time and Gavel to finance and HR logins. Our ops team also tracks password health scores so we keep standards high.

The mobile app works fine for quick access, but autofill across different apps can be inconsistent. Sometimes it doesn’t recognize the login field, which slows people down when they’re on the go.
Occasionally the browser extension logs users out or doesn’t sync immediately with the desktop app, which causes frustration if someone just updated a password.

Likelihood to Recommend

Dashlane Password Manager works really well for situations where we need to share access to client portals or government filing sites, since multiple people can log in without ever seeing the actual password and we can cut off access right away when it’s no longer needed. It is also great for onboarding and offboarding since new hires or interns can get the logins they need quickly and we don’t have to pass around spreadsheets. Another strong use case is meeting compliance expectations because it shows clients we are serious about security and password hygiene. Where it’s less useful is in environments that already use single sign-on since that already centralizes access and makes Dashlane Password Manager feel redundant. It can also be a little frustrating if you rely heavily on mobile since the autofill doesn’t always work smoothly across different apps.

If an organization does not need the security that we do I feel a cheaper option may be better

Dashlane is used with the majority of our employees to store and manage secure password vaults. Though it is not currently mandatory, we are considering it because of the effectiveness, convenience, and security Dashlane offers. Many of our employees that have embraced Dashlane have discovered how lifechanging it really is! They have found that they can focus more on their productivity, rather than constantly resetting all their frequently forgotten passwords across multiple platforms. Dashlane also helps secure our firm assets by promoting healthy password security and offers the IT Admin tools to monitor and push our users to strengthen password habits through the Security section of the Admin Dashboard.

Pros

Robust features in both the Admin and personal user sense
Multiple convenient options for unlocking that don't require retyping the master pass on a regularly used and trusted device
Extensive customization options in both the Admin panel and user settings

Cons

I would like to see a dedicated desktop application that doesn't go through the browser. Some less tech savvy users struggle to remember Dashlane lives only in an extension.
Dashlane gets very weird when handling employees that have returned after being deactivated, especially if the user doesn't recall what their master pass used to be. I would love to see more robust options for IT Admin to force account recovery so that returning employees don't have to start from scratch. This has happened to us 3 times since we've had Dashlane.
Dashlane feels a little pricey compared to some other competitors.

Likelihood to Recommend

Dashlane is particularly useful in industries that would have many employees requiring many logins, such as the legal services or other office type positions. It's particularly helpful if you are or have dedicated IT Admin on-site that can deploy, manage, and fine tune the user utilization of Dashlane. I don't see it being particularly appropriate for mobile utilization, mostly on iOS, because Apple has Bogarted the password management with their own service on their devices, which most Apple users jump into and then refuse to leave. While Dashlane can be set to the default password manager on iOS, it's not quite as convenient as Apple's "we scan your face -> You're logged in".

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Our team uses Dashlane for tracking credentials used across multiple platforms and occasionally uses it for storing payment information. It solves the business problem of always hunting down credentials in our documentation and SOPs, reduces friction in workflows and helps our team move faster with day to day operations. The password generator is also very helpful for ensuring we're using strong passwords on our accounts.

Mobile has improved a lot, but still could be more integrated with Apple OS
The search function is frustrating - Can be hard to find a specific login when you have a lot of logins using the same email or username.
Sharing or exporting credentials would be nice feature to add - for non Dashlane users.

It's well suited for day to day use of logging in and out of websites and online accounts, for multiple different users and platforms. Payment integrations are also very helpful in the day to day. It's less suited for searching/finding credentials for a platform you haven't used in a while. The chrome extension is very helpful as well.

I am an accountant in Public Practise, every website that I need to log into for my business practices every day require strong passwords. By regularly using Dashlane Password Manager for the past three years and I have amassed a storage of over 60 passwords there. It is easy to remember one master password to unlock the 60 secure passwords. It is also great to be able to offer this protection for my team.

Good storage of passwords within your device.

Sometimes it doesn't save a password I am editing

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Dashlane enables us to save passwords for all our business tools and vendors, and share them with each other as needed. We also use the product for secure notes. The ability to access logins from any device we are logged into is critical. We also use it to store our business credit card info for payments, so we don't need to extend our risk to saved cards on dozens of vendor websites.

Pros

Cons

It could do a better job of filling in data on mobile. I have a Google Pixel 6 phone, and occasionally it will stop functioning, requiring me to access the app and manually copy/paste login information into the browser. Usually, this comes back by restarting the phone.

We like the product for internal use, but for our client base, we need something that can be managed by the MSP, in this case, us. We really appreciated having the availability of a free version for home use, but we are disappointed that this option has been discontinued. Since we have the business product, purchasing a family plan ends up creating duplicity.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it to store and grant leveled access to credentials, both internal and external (we're an MSP). Most of us also use it for personal accounts and passwords. Using a password manager like Dashlane Password Manager is more secure than saving logins in our web browsers or on a physical piece of paper.

It can be over-aggressive with autofill (in fields that aren't asking for username or password)
Sharing logins between internal colleagues should not require email invitation

A password manager like Dashlane Password Manager is well suited for organizations who work within a lot of disparate systems, and/or have some level of access to other organizations' assets. We use SSO as much as possible these days, but there's plenty outside of that scope. I have also recommended a personal license to friends and family who I've seen using less secure password storage methods. Dashlane Password Manager would be less suited to organizations whose entire scope is behind an SSO login as there's only one password to remember.

We use it for every password on the company. Without Dashlane Password Manager we’d be in huge trouble. We often need to share passwords and sometimes when employees leave we keep their passwords and it’s super helpful. I love Dashlane Password Manager and it saves us money not having to create a bunch of different accounts.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Dashlane as an agency to ensure passwords for multiple apps and sites that the team needs access to. This includes sensitive content that is under NDA from large companies, such as the BBC and Supercell. Along with the password functionality, we also use the secure vault to store API keys as a developer team and share any sensitive info.

Pros

Enters passwords on sites.
Controls multiple logins for a single app.
Logs me in without having to copy, paste or even select fields.

Cons

Sometimes fields are pre-filled incorrectly, and an email field doesn't always mean it is the email login for that site that I am trying to enter.
An easier way to pause dashlane when trying to debug a login issue.
If Dashlane had a built in pass key or 2fa that would be awesome!

Likelihood to Recommend

I mean, any organisation that has a good infosec policy, or any developer team that needs to share API keys and other secrets or variables. But really, anyone who has used the same password more than once across apps should really have something like Dashlane!

Sharing my passwords with employees and making my passwords long and difficult to hack, but also difficult to remember so they're stored in Dashlane.

Pros

Logging me in automatically on websites that prompt the log in portal
Letting me know when a password is weak
Letting me know when a password has been reused too many times

Cons

It doesn't always save the updated password so an older password may be stored and if using something generated it caused me to reset my password because I don't remember it.
Sometimes my pin doesn't work even though I'm typing it correctly
It doesn't link to my gmail work address so I have to manually type a new employee address and if I spell it wrong there's no failed to send error, it's just bouncing in the abyss
No ability for me as the key manager of the account to reset a password; must reset whole account for employees who have forgotten their password and have no backup method for log-in

It's well suited for a small business where there aren't many users to manage. There is no way to mass remove user access to passwords; it's manually for each password saved, which would be a headache. Perhaps this is an option if you're on the enterprise plan. For a small business with quickly changing staff, there's no ability to credit the account for lost seats/employees. You just eat the cost.
