We use Dashlane Password Manager as a company-wide password manager to protect our passwords, generate better passwords, and offer our staff an easy-to-use tool to manage all of their passwords. It has also been a great tool to help share passwords with individuals and groups.

I can only think of areas where it is well-suited, which includes ensuring staff are using strong, varied passwords for all of our accounts. It is also great at keeping notes associated with accounts.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

With so much of our data online these days, secure passwords are a necessity. Having strong passwords to protect our donor's data is a must with the cybersecurity threats that are out there. It's great to have Dashlane Password Manager generate strong random passwords to support our cybersecurity policies. It's also great to be able to share passwords with other staff.

Cons

Some sites have multiple pieces of sign in information. Dashlane Password Manager doesn't always keep all of that.
Dashlane Password Manager sometimes wants to autofill on sites where it's not needed.

My email used to constantly get hacked (or attempted hacking). I used Dashlane Password Manager to create a 40 random character password and my email account has not been messed with since then.

Some sites only allow 1 user so it's great to be able to share passwords with co-workers so we can all log into the same site when needed.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Saving passwords in a secure area without having them written down, making it easy to change devices, and share among employees who need to know the passwords. This addresses the risk of passwords being compromised. Also, with the use of Dashlane Password Manager, employees are less likely to duplicate passwords.

Allows managers to share logins but have them locked down.

Cons

Sometimes the updating of passwords is sloppy and if you are not careful, the update gets saved when the password has not been changed, like when it did not meet the requirements.

It is perfect for a finance team where a leader may create logins but wants staff to be able to use them without being able to change the passwords.

It allows all of our employees to manage their passwords securely, Helps us stay compliant, and makes managing different passwords easier.

Pros

Cons

The website widget is always in the way. Soemtimes we have multiple logins and it wants to auto type one of them.
It provides a button to remember me for 14 days for my main password but it never remembers me.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Primarily used for Development and Grant Writing as there are many portals that require one log in for the organization. This allows it to be secure versus storing passwords in a Word document or messaging them to each other.

Pros

Alerts you when a password is compromised.
Keeps all of your passwords in one place.
Allows you to share passwords with limitations.

Cons

Providing you an alert before it overrides a previous password.
Gives you a spot to make a note when you first save the password vs having to go back in. This is particularly needed for portals that all use the same base page (eGrants for example has multiple foundations using it, UT ID is another )

Likelihood to Recommend

I would say to consider if the cost is allowable in your budgets as there are free options but they have limitations.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Our staff may have difficulty having a high rate of safety due to repeating their passwords so maybe recommending passwords would be great to prevent this from happening and to help us keep our information safe. I am my org's office admin and I use Dashlane Password Manager everyday and share passwords, keep track of users, etc.

My experience with Dashlane Password Manager is definitely well suited, and I have been able to use it in pretty much every scenario for my job due to me being an office admin so I pretty much use it daily. It helps me be quicker at my job by the passwords already logging me in, lets me make payments easily due to it saving my passwords and I also access 4 different emails for work so it allows me to securely log in each one.

Our Organization maintains files, linked accounts, PHI data points and other web-based systems that require security. Managing hundreds of passwords is too time consuming and that leads to duplicating passwords across various sites which leaves us open to damage. Dashlane Password Manager has made it possible for all those passwords to be organized, verified, 2-step MFA established and can monitor the actual use of the password to identify the user. We are extremely happy with Dashlane Password Manager.

Cons

I would like to see duplicate entries that have managed to get set up flagged for action and removal
It would be useful to administration to be able to pull reports by user

This program is well-suited for use in multiple password environments such as PHI access, financial account access, and internal records requiring higher levels of security.

I don't see where it would be inappropriate - if you have passwords, Dashlane Password Manager make managing them so much easier!

We use Dashlane Password Manager daily; we have several programs and locations logging into multiple different accounts, and Dashlane Password Manager has been infinitely helpful in this. Instead of having one person manage a spreadsheet full of login information, there's something that can do it for us - opening up a great deal of time for us to better serve our clientele.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We utilize Dashlane Password Manager for our small team of five employees. We use a variety of browser-based software, much of which contains confidential information. As such, Dashlane Password Manager is extremely useful in providing and storing secure, high-level passwords.

The ability to share logins is also extremely helpful for our organization. As a nonprofit, we share quite a few accounts across our team. It's very useful to be able to share with the whole team, or some that are only between two or three.

Pros

High-level passwords - ones that won't easily be hacked
Autofill functionality - great to autologin in sites, when desired
Cross-platform functionality - nice to have on my phone as well when I need to login remotely and do not have my work laptop
Affordable - great to have access to a cheaper subscription through TechSoup as a nonprofit

Cons

Autosave feature sometimes doesn't work well - a new password is set, but it doesn't save it correctly
Certain websites don't handle it well. For example, every time our bank requires a password reset, we have to do it manually because Dashlane Password Manager gets messed up and will not autofill and save correctly
We had one issue with our accounting software that required us to use incognito mode so that Dashlane Password Manager wouldn't prevent us from performing a function.

Likelihood to Recommend

We've had very good success with Dashlane Password Manager. The autosave functionality on some sites, where a new password doesn't get saved correctly, is really the only issue that our team has with the service.
