We use ConvertKit in several ways for our veterinary clinic. First, we use it to send automated emails to our won leads so they know what to expect ahead of an appointment - this is linked to our CRM platform and how we code the lead as 'won". Next, we put our 'lost' leads on an email marketing campaign to try to win them over by showcasing everything we have to offer. And finally, we use ConvertKit to send blast emails to all of our subscribers whenever we have a big announcement to make.
Pros
Automated email campaigns
Managing subscribers
Email blasts
Managing contract though tags
Cons
I think the dashboard could benefit form allowing more customization
The way you format email templates is pretty limited
The saved footer options seems glitchy. I can never get it to work right.

ConvertKit is great for sending emails and reporting on click through rates. It's not really designed to manage contacts or acting as a CRM, so you will probably need another system outside of ConvertKit that links to it. Also, since all the contacts in ConvertKit are subscribers, all of them have the option to opt out of emails. So if you are looking to send mass emails that aren't necessarily marking emails, you'll need to do that outside of ConvertKit.
Used to capture Email subscribers for our newsletter on blog and also integrate with eCommerce site where it captures details about customer purchase including personal details. We needed a reliable email sending solution with high deliverability crafted for solo and small business. ConvertKit suffices the requirement offering sophisticated and easy solution without complicating the setup.
Pros
Email Deliverability
Custom Domain Setup
Reliability
Email List Management
Cons

It is best for simple scenarios where user journey is not much complicated and do not need segmentation at micro level. ConvertKit was started with creators and individuals in mind and that is somewhat restricting it from going big. I can say that because their pricing is competitive and at par with what other services with multiple pipelines feature. So, they must re-consider pricing for individual/solo businesses.
ConvertKit is an awesome option for building an email list and creating emails based on behavior using automation. I have used it to grow my list. The business problems it addresses is to create a landing page to capture emails to build lists and create different lists using automation. You can also build a website with it, but I only used it to house my potential leads.
Pros
CRM for your potential leads.
Offers automation to save entrepreneurs time and money.
Pricing is affordable and offers free trial.
Cons
When I first started using ConvertKit, I found it hard to create a landing page. I am pretty technical but when I had to customize my page using HTML, I got lost. I thought I could get up and running within an hour (build the page, create the list, and set up automation), but I soon realized I had to upgrade to use automation and setting up took me more than 3 hours. The learning curve had me stuck. I got frustrated and reached out to support.
ConvertKit is not for a non-tech person. There are not enough templates to get up and running within an hour.
ConvertKit is simply email marketing and landing pages for list building. It could offer a little more.
The analytics can be a bit more in depth.

It is perfect for artists and content creators. It is perfect for service based providers who want to house their potential leads. Entry level entrepreneurs can also benefit. It is not an all in one type of platform, but it is useful for list building and setting up automation. If you have less than 1K subscribers, this is the route to go until you need to use automation. Then, just feel free to upgrade.
